Break Free From Regrets

“Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

To whoever is battling with regrets about the past, I want to encourage you with this message.

Someone once asked me seriously if he could go back to the past to change a mistake that he made. The mistake is currently causing some bad consequences in his life.

The truth is, there is no such thing as returning to the past. There are no parallel universes either—if not, will all versions of people stand before Jesus’ throne for judgment at the end of time?

The only reality is here and now. You are the only version of you—uniquely made by God. Yes, God sees the past, present, and future, but every person can only really be in one place at one time.

No matter what has happened in the past, good or bad, press on and forget the things which are behind.

Treat it like today is day one of your new life. Every day is a fresh beginning to walk with the Lord.

God is so good that He can restore you with much more/better than what you lost in the past.

The first step to healing from a trauma suffered in the past is to decide to press on and look forward from now on.

“Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭WEB)

Cast your burden of regret into the Lord Jesus’ hands—He cares for you. Turn away from the hurt and look into Jesus’ smiling face.

You cannot run freely when there is a heavy boulder strapped to your ankle. Let that regret go and experience the peace, lightness, and freedom.

“But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, that shines more and more until the perfect day.” (Proverbs‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

There is a race, we run by grace, and there are prizes to be won. God placed a high calling in you. The future is bright and glorious so keep looking forward from now on. Things will get better!

Blessed Through Meditating on the Gospel

“Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper. The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.” (Psalms‬ ‭1:1-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Planted by the streams of water: well-supplied and nourished in every way.

Produces fruit in its season: doing the right thing at the right time.

Leaf does not wither: staying healthy and young.

Whatever he does shall prosper: things are constantly being turned around for your good—rigged for your success.

Do you want to be like the tree in the passage above?

The key is to meditate day and night on God’s law.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.” (Romans‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Under the New Covenant of Grace, we are no longer under the law of sin and death (the Old Covenant with the Ten Commandments), but we are now under the law of the Spirit of life that is in Christ Jesus.

We follow the Holy Spirit who gives us the desire and ability to do God’s will.

In other words, we are to meditate on the New Covenant of Grace and everything it entails for us.

Let the Gospel of Grace and Peace be your delight.

No one should have to force you to enjoy the life-giving Scriptures.

Do you want to prosper in all things, be healthy, even as your soul prospers? Then meditate on the Gospel.

Let your mind mull over the revelations about Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will show you more about Jesus as you focus on Him.

“But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God’s word is like a mirror because when you see Jesus in the Scriptures, you are actually looking at how you are really like in the spirit.

As your understanding is broadened and you receive more light, you become transformed into Jesus’ image, from glory to glory—your outward man will align with the inward righteous spirit who is full of life.

Yes, the Scriptures say to do this “day and night”, not only once a week for an hour-long sermon while playing with your distracting smartphone.

If you take this word seriously, you will see life-changing results very soon. Be a doer of the word, not a hearer only. Meditate on the Gospel!

With Beidawu’s Kuaigu lodge and campground not open, we decided to challenge a single-day ascent to Beidawu Mountain. Starting at the new trail head, we had to ascend and descend some 1900m and cover nearly 24km in a single day. We were up at 1:30am and hit the trail at 3:30am. When we reached the summit, fog started to fade away, revealing the breathtaking sea of clouds. We stayed for a while at the top not only because of the stunning view, but also because I was exhausted after a long and grueling hike.

All of a sudden we heard huge cracks of thunder above us so we hurried to hike down. In no time, the heavens opened and it began to pour down. It was raining so hard we were quickly soaked through, making the remaining trip cold, wet and quite scary (also due to nightfall). The descent was the hardest part - pain have already built up in my knees even before the summit, and with each step downhill I felt sharp stabbing pain in my kneecap and on the bottom of my feet. Thankfully we made it down safely and by the time we got back to the new trail head the sun was already up again… The entire trip took us nearly 26 hours to complete.

This short cinematic vlog is proof that we have conquered the 3,092m Beidawu Mountain in a single-day ascent.

What is forest bathing? How is it done, and how is it good for you? In celebration of International Day of Forests 2021, our team made this mini film on an increasing popular form of therapy called forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku. Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is a wellness practice that started in Japan in the early 1980s.
