Race Summary of GNR 2021
It was definitely the most wonderful half marathon that I ever did so far. It was cloudy, cooling, little bit of wind at some stretch, great atmosphere with lots of spectators along the way, cheering and supporting us with performances like drums, dance, loud cheers, holding cardboards with motivational quotes and list goes on!
I am so grateful of being able to be the elite category and toe the starting line with Olympians, World Champions, National Record Holders and list goes on!
To be honest, Half Marathon is not my thing at the moment, but I always wanted to run a fast time for this course as my last attempt of this distance was on 5 years ago in Nike We Run KL 21K, whereby I DID NOT FINISH as I collapsed at about 800m before reaching the finishing line. It was due to dehydration and hypoglycemia.
I then went back to 5-10k, sharpen the speed first before attempting another HM and I got into Towerrunning sport in year 2017.
Here we go, after 5 years, while there are not many Towerrunning races, why not give the HM another try. I got confirmation for the slot 6 weeks prior to it and start the training rightaway.
I then got Coach Albert to prescribe me a 6 weeks training program rightaway and did a 5k, 1k and 200m time trial to find out where my current fitness level is.
Juggling between the Towerrunning training, HM program and traveling here and that are not that easy especially during the pandemic time. I clocked a total of about 72km + 1200 floors + 2 weight training sessions weekly for not just the HM but Germany Towerrunning Championship on 29/8.
I started off the race with quite a fast pace and slowly got back into the rhythm. Initially, I was aiming for a Sub 72 min HM (5k - 15:48 | 10k - 33:26). My previous best time was 1:23:59 in Kuching HM 2015 (5k - 17:36 | 10k - 36:42).
After 5k mark, I felt the tiredness, but I tried to still hold the pace. At 10k, until right after we make the U-turn, it was all great still, although I felt the tiredness on my legs already and it was like, half way there!

Cái bảng hiệu của cô để chè Nghèo chứ bọn mình ăn chỉ thấy mỗi 2 chữ lẫn lộn trong đầu, vừa Ngon lại vừa Thương. Ngon thì không phải bàn, nhưng Thương thì có có nhiều cái để nói lắm. 25- 26 năm đẩy cái xe chè đi bán tới nay, cô mỗi lúc mỗi gầy yếu mà không dám nghỉ 1 ngày, vì không bán thì cả nhà lấy gì mà ăn. Chú bệnh nằm 1 chỗ, cháu nội đang tuổi ăn tuổi học, bản thân cô cũng chả khá khẩm hơn nhưng cũng phải gắng gượng làm trụ cột duy nhất trong gia đình. Chiếc xe thì nặng trịch mà cô thì gầy gò nhỏ xíu, đôi cánh tay khẳng khiu run rẩy liên hồi mỗi khi múc từng vá chè, muỗng đá. Do di chứng từ căn bệnh phổi mà cô nói chuyện rất khó khăn, muốn hỏi thăm nhiều điều mà trông cô chật vật thều thào đến xót xa, ánh mắt luôn đau đáu 1 nỗi buồn đến quay quắt. Cảm giác rất muốn tâm sự, chia sẻ và trút hết những khó khăn, ấm ức của đời người nhưng bất lực, cô đành trút hết tâm sức và cả lòng tự trọng vào chiếc xe chè giản dị, chắt chiu trong từng hạt đậu, từng vá cốt dừa để mang đến cho người, cho đời 1 món quà quê dân dã mát lành.

It has been over a year since I went to Bangkok to do a Muay Thai training camp. It is something that I have missed and want to do again. However because no gyms are open and I can't get on a plane, I decided to create my own homemade Muay Thai training camp!
In part 1 of my homemade Muay Thai Training Camp I started my first day of training. Starting the training camp with a 10k morning run followed by intense circuits and a body weight workout. After 3 hours of rest I continued my Muay Thai training with a couple of hours of bag work focusing on Muay Thai combinations, freestyle bag workouts and bag kicks.

時局紛亂,衍生了《亂世體格要求》,文宣提出三十米來回跑三個來回。實際情況要求當然不止於此了,各國軍事組織、體育學校、紀律部隊 廣泛採用的心肺功能測試是 標準化、循序加辣 20米往返跑 BEEP Test (又名 multi-stage fitness test / PACER test / Progressive Aerobic muscular Run) ,用於測試人員的最大攝氧量 VO2 max
使用的器材非常簡單,只需要一通暢的二十米步道、喇叭一個即可。 參加者完成後,可以獲得一個標準得分,以識別其跑步能力,知道自己所處的體格水平 (見影片附表)
今次 《與區議員居家運動》 我們繼續邀請到林兆彬議員 Ben ,示範如何進行這個國際通用的測試
首先,需要設定二十米距離,成年男士一步距平均為 0.762 米,步行 26 步後,於兩端設立標示物;然後播放測試訓練聲帶 ( https://youtu.be/cz2m1PJ0gj4 ) ,聽到 BEEP 聲 即可出發
規則極之簡單: 受測人員需要在下一次 BEEP 聲響起前跑到二十米距離 (單腳掌觸線即可),並在 BEEP 聲後出發往對面 (不能偷步)。無法達陣會收到一次警告,受測人員在下一次 BEEP聲前需要追回距離,以取消警告。 連續收到兩次警告,測試會終止 (部份紀律部隊會採用三連警告出局),最後能完成的級數 Level 就是測試分數了
第一級 Level 1 的要求速度是每小時 8.5 公里,每上升一級數速度會提升 0.5 公里/小時,使用下面公式,就可以估算出最大攝氧量:
VO2max = (速度 × 6.65 - 35.8) × 0.95 + 0.182
受測者從中可訓練出步調感,並會發覺挑戰越到後期越困難
正是因為辛苦狼狽,經驗或平日訓練強度較低的跑者,在定距測試 (舉例 800米 / 一里 / 三公里跑 / 10K) 往往留力過剩,致配速太保守
相反 BEEP Test 是告訴受測者跟著聲音盡跑,心理負擔大減,可以接近全力以赴
測試時公園人多,因應疫情,林議員戴著口罩受測,得分也到達 Level 5.4 (蘇格蘭警察入職要求) ,正常狀態之下,得分肯定可以更高
而這個測試最重要的好處,是測試本身就是訓練。 在當下疫情,只需要一條通暢人少的廿米路段,毋需長距奔跑經過太多疫區,就能夠提升身體反應、跑步速度、步調感知 以及 心肺有氧能力
