Buy the Truth

“Buy the truth, and don’t sell it. Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.” (Proverbs‬ ‭23:23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Nothing is more precious than revelations about Jesus who is the way, the TRUTH, and the life. He is also who Wisdom represents in the Book of Proverbs.

Godly wisdom is stored up and reserved like precious treasure for the “upright” who are God’s children.

“For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity; that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints.” (Proverbs‬ ‭2:6-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

To sell the truth means to give it away—discarding it as if there is anything else more worthy to trade it for.

When we trade revelations of Jesus away and choose to embrace ways of the world instead, we get conned into a bad deal.

Only knowing the truth can set us free. If we sell the truth, then we are left with unprofitable lies that leave us in bondage.

“Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished. Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished.” Therefore his name was called Edom. Jacob said, “First, sell me your birthright.” Esau said, “Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?” Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob. Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.” (Genesis‬ ‭25:29-34‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Esau was a man who was very short-sighted. He could only see what was in front of him. He was very hungry, and there was freshly-boiled stew, so he sold his birthright for a meager bowl of stew.

The birthright was something intangible to him so it did not seem real or valuable. He was a man who walked by sight and not by faith.

When you are feeling a desperate need, do you sell the truth and buy the world’s ways?

“All these revelations about Jesus are not practical or useful. Don’t get me wrong, they are good to know, but they cannot help me fix this problem in my life.”

A statement like that is like Esau despising his birthright, saying, “Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?”

If you treat the Gospel of Jesus Christ as precious, God will be really pleased, for that is what He considers as true treasure. He who honors Jesus, receives honor because every good thing is found in Christ.

“For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.” (Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Can you see that God considers wisdom, knowledge, and joy as His precious gifts and priority, whereas gathering and heaping up (material wealth) is seen as a secondary matter?

You buy the truth by seeking out revelations about Jesus Christ, and making it your priority to know Him more.

When God gives you a rhema word, act upon it. Doubt it at your own detriment. God is good and His word is true. Buy the truth and do not sell it!

Rest in God and Bear Good Fruit

“The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years. There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and childless. Yahweh’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing: for, behold, you shall conceive, and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”” (Judges‬ ‭13:1-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The name “Manoah” means “rest”.

In a time of great stress and suffering for the children of Israel, God chose Manoah and his wife to bring forth a champion son who would deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines.

He chose the one called “rest” to produce rest for Israel from her enemies.

Notice how Manoah’s son (Samson) would be specially set apart and dedicated to God, just as Jesus was anointed to be the one who would save the world from their sins.

There are parallels between Jesus and Samson.

One major similarity is that both of them died with their arms outstretched, and through their death, more enemies were defeated than through their other deeds when they were alive.

Both are saviors, called and anointed to save the people that God loves.

Are you barren and childless in any area of your life at the moment? God will supply His grace to make you bear good fruit. He can send you something so wonderful that brings glory to His name.

Just be “Manoah”—resting in God, trusting in His promises. He has a good future planned for you!

Water is Coming to you

“He said, “Yahweh says, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’ For Yahweh says, ‘You will not see wind, neither will you see rain, yet that valley will be filled with water, and you will drink, both you and your livestock and your other animals. This is an easy thing in Yahweh’s sight. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand. You shall strike every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’” In the morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water. Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all who were able to put on armor, young and old, and stood on the border. They rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood. They said, “This is blood. The kings are surely destroyed, and they have struck each other. Now therefore, Moab, to the plunder!” When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land attacking the Moabites.” (2 Kings‬ ‭3:16-24‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The Israel army coalition had no water to drink for seven days. They were thirsty and asked the prophet Elisha to inquire of the Lord Yahweh.

The Lord’s instruction was to make the valley full of trenches, in preparation to collect the water.

Yet you may wonder where is the water going to come from if there is no wind or rain?

Sometimes, when the Lord asks you to get into position, just do it without trying to reason it out.

He said to make the valley full of trenches, meaning GET READY TO RECEIVE.

How much water do you want to catch? The more trenches you dig, the more water you will store, if not the water will come, but it will just flow away.

The Lord allows you to choose how much you want to act upon His rhema word. If you have faith, you will make the valley of your life full of trenches, ready to receive from Him.

The water came by the way of Edom. It is not your job to know how the water comes. The point is, the water WILL come because the Lord has commanded it.

The water had a double purpose for the Israel coalition. It satiated their thirst, and it also became an important military tactic used by the Lord to defeat Israel’s enemies.

The water that you collect in the coming days will enable you to defeat enemies in your life.

Everyone’s “trenches” are different—you will know what yours is. Whatever the Lord has put into your heart to do, remember that you can choose how much water you will collect, based on how many trenches you make.

Do not waste time questioning, “How will the water come? How is it possible?” The water is coming so it is time to get in position!

In this video, I headed down to Unagiya Ichinoya, tucked away in a quaint corner at Robertson Quay. Unagiya Ichinoya is a specialist Japanese restaurant that focuses on unagi (eel) bento. It also offers other classic Japanese fare like sashimi and wagyu beef.

For my platter, I was given unagi, A4 wagyu ribeye, squid, chicken wings and yakitori, all grilled masterfully over charcoal. Servings of ikiru and sashimi were also provided, after which all of these were plated around a bed of rice.

All in all, the platter was a beautiful sight to behold and the variety on the plate was inviting, although the strong flavour of unagi became rather tedious at the end. As a single portion, which comes in 3 beautifully plated sizes, the unagi bento is a true treat for those who appreciate distinct flavour and strong tradition.

I’m so grateful to wake up every morning to the sound of birds chirping and the sight of glorious lush greenery all around me. But for how much longer? There are few pockets like this left.

In 2018 Malaysia lost 35,790 Stadium Merdeka’s worth of forest while that same year, 38,000 Malaysians were displaced from their homes due to climate-related disasters.

Climate change is real and it is happening.

One tree can absorb 21.8kgs of carbon, we need trees as much as trees need us to protect them.

Without protecting or preserving our forests, we aren’t just short changing over 3800 species of animals of their home but we are creating a devastating future for ourselves and our kids.

So let’s get planting! Behold my beautiful Red Flame, I can’t wait to watch it grow up !
