[前言]
小弟我去年畢業於112 BST。從大三下加入實驗室以來，就一直抱持著掛名、甚至發 pape
r 的憧憬，所以默默的在版上潛水爬文。看著版上大神的投稿歷程，驚嘆之餘也學到很多
眉眉角角。升大四的暑假我開始發想題目，很幸運的做出成果，一路到去年4月中收動物
實驗，5月中開始投稿。一路跌跌撞撞投了Advanced Materials 拿到 Major Revision ，
翻船，又投了 AFM、ACS Central Science，最後轉投本篇，所幸在申請PhD deadline 前
塵埃落定。既然受惠於PhD版，希望我小小的經驗能回饋給大家一點收穫，也期盼拋磚引
玉，鼓勵更年輕的撰稿者。

[歷程]
本篇研究是一種醫學用的酸鹼敏感性材料。
我算是運氣真的很好，實驗歷程不到一年便完成研究。想說碰碰運氣，五月中旬我們從高
點數的Advanced Materials 開始投。一個半月後拿到 major revision，三個reviewer一
個反對、一個偏正面、一個超正面，其中兩個甚至都給出 out standing importance (5%
) compared to published work in this subject area。三位總共提了20幾個問題，edi
tor 給10天修，雖然reviewer 想要我們補動物data ，了解關於材料在生理環境的厚度，
還有對於免疫細胞的影響，我想說revision 時間這麼短，補足更全面的discussion，再
補上一些材料data 應該就可以。原稿7000字，光回答問題就打了5000多字。沒想到一個
半月後，第二位 reviewer 覺得沒回答到問題，Reject。
接著，我開始經歷模板式拒絕：AFM (10天)、ACS Central Science (20天)，後者建議我
投更specific的ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces。至此，可能因為經歷了AM 的洗
禮，本篇的四位 reviewer 都建議 minor revision 後接收 (補一些流變data)。改完送
出兩週後 Accept (其實11/16就寫信說 we are ready to accept...，只差格式問題)。
[撰稿]
由於是第一次進行學術寫作，撰稿前我參考了很多關於英文論文寫作的網站，甚至試聽免
費版 Nature masterclasses。其中我覺得受益最多的是 Dr. Anna Clemens 的部落格，
裡面很具體講解摘要、引言、討論所需要包含的要素與架構。另外，WORDVICE 裡面的文
章也滿有用。
邏輯方面，我遵循的是「沙漏」原則，也就是從大方向開始、引導到一個次領域、再聚焦
縮小到本篇的研究題目(introduction 完畢)，接著再藉由 Results 中不同的驗證方法展
開題目、探討各面向的功能性、放大到研究對最初提及的方向有何影響。我覺得這也是許
多paper將Methods 移至最後的原因，讓讀者的邏輯思緒連貫。另外，我本身喜歡把Resul
ts 跟 Discussion 寫在一起，因為若能一張張圖分開陳述與討論，讀者似乎比較能保持
在狀況內，不容易忘記實驗結果。
關於英文文句表達，我覺得每句話都像在投球一樣，而Transition words就像是比出往哪
裡丟的手勢，是要延伸(Furthermore)、舉反面例子(On the other hand)、還是給原因(G
iven that…..)，都會讓讀者在接球前有心理準備飛行方向，也就比較好懂。另外內容部
分，我覺得句子間的環環相扣是其精髓。如何將一句話的收尾緊接著下一句話的開頭，比
較引人入勝。
運用這些方法，老師看了挺順眼，也就省了一筆送英修的錢。
[結語]
當初進實驗室覺得能有一個自己題目就不錯了，結果運氣很好 proposal 被老師接受，又
意外發現了材料的特殊性質、搭上學長動物計畫的車，瘋狂猛做。從過年前做到過年後，
趕在年夜飯前、吃完聚餐每天去動物房顧動物2小時。那段時間有空就跑咖啡廳，趕在動
物實驗期間生出 paper 初稿。想想一路走來真的挺充實。最後要感謝老師，即使我是外
系生也願意收我作專題生；也謝謝家人們的支持與體諒；謝謝女朋友辛苦的等待，幾乎沒
空好好陪伴，只好把你帶來實驗室約會，跟我一起腦力激盪；也感謝學長姐的提攜與幫忙
