這顆鏡頭非常特殊，它是設計被用來拍攝一般鏡頭難以到達的微距環境，因此鏡頭本體被設計的極長，前端像是探針一樣可以深入各種表面來拍攝，鏡頭前端 20cm 更加入了防水功能，即使相機沒有防水，一樣可以用鏡頭深入水下拍攝。

也因為它特殊的用途，這顆鏡頭被稱之為「Probe」，並且在前端也內建了 LED 以便照亮目標，在規格上它並不同於一般鏡頭，最大光圈 F14（沒錯，不是F1.4），放大倍率達到 2.0X，而為了延長成像距離、達到探針的目的，它採用了「Relay」的設計。

過往 Relay Lens 大多被用在需要延長整體鏡組設計的光學系統上，例如潛望鏡、狙擊鏡、顯微鏡等。雖然我不太確定這顆 Laowa 24mm F14 Relay 2X Macro 是不是首次應用在交換式鏡頭的相機身上，但它肯定是近十年以來的神奇之作。
