Last week I made a personal research trip to Jingdezhen, China - the world's 'porcelain capital' as it has been producing pottery for close to 2000 years. I wouldn't recommend visiting the city as a tourist unless you're truly interested in ceramics - it's a city packed with factories and ceramics shops, but understanding the processes behind the art and industry was definitely interesting. Apparently Ai Weiwei had his Sunflower Seeds piece created here alongside 1600 porcelain artisans.

20,000 seeds were sprinkled onto a canvas to create a portrait of Ai Weiwei - an artist who is forever questioning and asking for accountability from establishments through his art.
In light of all the absurdity that is and will keep on happening in this world, here is a piece made of 20,000 seeds, inspired by Ai's quote,
"The seed is a household object but at the same time it is a revolutionary symbol".
