TIP #2 - APPAREL
rain - humid and warm - wind - strong rain - dark and mist - rain and mist. It was scenario of weather condition during UTGK100.
Mandatory equipment list was very strict and my UD vest was very blow up. However I still add "no brand LIGHT JACKET" which is great for running in not so cold weather but give me enough comfort even during strong wind. It is very compact and I could keep it ready in my back pocket of Formosa Trail jersey.
Mandatory included waterproof jacket, inner warm layer (exclude cotton - very good advice) and gloves. Gloves may be very useful, but I like feel the dirt. :) (for races as UTMB need waterproof gloves and trousers)
BUFF
I race only with buff on head for many reasons.
SHORTS
Compressport Taiwan Trail running short is best option for long races. Reduce chafing* and do not feel wet.
SHOES + gaiters
Altra Olympus were pretty good, include muddy sections. Just insole little folded during steep downhill. Gaiters need. Socks and spare socks (type which you used to, preferable wool or synthetic, never cotton)
*ANTICHAFING
Somebody may know this issue of chafing. Past two years I use Gurney Goo (night before race and morning again on exposes parts, include feet)
we have few tubes in TBR eshop: http://www.shop.taiwanbeastrunners.com/product/gurney-goo/
ANOTHER
Naked Belt (this time mainly for poles)
BIB belt (everyone in The Beast Trail will get one)

Throwback to last week of today where I had my one day trip to Kuantan, Pahang for my event of 5000m in SIPMA 2017 (7th Malaysian Educational Institution Games).
↓
It was really a great adventure though.
↓
Dad picked me up from my hostel in UM at 8.10am to LRT Kerinchi. Bought a pack of Rice plus a piece of chicken with some cucumber and keep it with me. Then, I took the LRT and switch line to LRT Bandar Tasik Selatan. Bought some foods (Orange Juice & Milk) and brought up to the Bus.
↓
Took a 4 hour bus from TBS to Kuantan Terminal Sentral (10am→2pm). Had my breakfast while waiting for the Bus.
↓
Reach Kuantan at 2pm. Went and ask around on how to reach the Stadium Darul Makmur that I going to race my 5000m there. And so took a bus and reach the Stadium at 3pm as the Bus started to move at 2.30pm. At the same time had Beet It Sport Nitrate 3000 from @beetitsportmy while on my way to the track.
↓
Reach the Stadium and got my race bib, running vest and running shorts from my teammate. Got myself ready, practice imagery session while on my headphone playing my favourite jazz songs.
↓
Took a capsule of Actigin from @nulivscience an hour before my event as it helps in increased glycogen delivery to muscle tissues for more muscle fuel. Then went and proceed with my warm up and zone in for my event. 5000m started at 4pm and the weather was really hot and sunny, average 34℃ during that hour.

Race story next time 😜
↓
Done with my race, went for a cool down jog, shower and changed, prepare for the prize giving.
↓
Once done with the prize giving, went and inform my team that I am heading back to KL.
↓
Went and ask around where to get the bus rapid Kuantan and head back to Bus Terminal and had a Protein Hit (coconut, lemon and raspberry flavor) on the bus.
↓
Reach the terminal at 6.10pm. Bought a sandwich there and brought up to the bus and have it on the way back to TBS KL.
↓
6.30pm → 10.30pm. Back to TBS, and quickly went and took the train and headback to LRT University. Walked back to my hostel. Back at 11.45pm.
↓
Saw the BEST Club there and had a piece of moon cake from them. Thanks guys! Happy late Moon cake Festival! Back to room at 12pm. A full Day!
