How to Prophesy
“Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation.
Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.
Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking with other languages.” (1 Corinthians 14:1, 3, 5, 39 WEB)
Firstly, it starts with knowing that all believers can operate in this gift, by the Holy Spirit.
If it wasn’t so, the apostle Paul wouldn’t ask all believers to earnestly desire to prophesy—to ask someone to earnestly desire something he will never receive is cruel, deceptive, and not the way of God.
If you haven’t received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, be filled with the Spirit and you will be activated to flow in the spiritual gifts.
Prophesying will always be edifying, exhorting (strongly urging believers to walk in God’s ways), or consoling.
It will never produce fear, worry, and it will never go against God’s word.
When desiring to prophesy for someone else or yourself, be in a conducive environment. A quiet one, or one that’s having soft praise and worship music in the background.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what He wants to reveal about the other person or yourself.
Wait in stillness, close your eyes, and pay attention. Keep your spiritual ears open and the eyes of your heart ready to see.
Images may float up or even words and Bible verses.
Write or draw them down. As you write, more will be revealed to you as you are participating with the Holy Spirit, moving in His flow.
The video below is a praise report (testimony) I just received yesterday, showing the prophesying gift in operation.
This is Nathan’s testimony: “A year ago I was in need and you prophesied about my career, saying that I would have a job and that it is something related to “a forest type of area” and indeed it manifested. Now I am employed to one of the government agencies here in the Philippines in our province that is assigned for reformation of lands. Indeed God is such a good good and loving Father who supplies the needs of His children.” - Nathan Tormon, Philippines, 29 Jan 2021
The same Holy Spirit is in you. Simply ask Him to use you through this gift and He will gladly give you the knowledge and wisdom which belong to God!

Jesus: The Upholder of Creation
“His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” (Hebrews 1:3 WEB)
Jesus is the eternal Word—the second person of God (Yahweh) that existed since the beginning. He upholds all things by the spoken word (rhema) of His power.
The original word for “upholding” is “pheró” which means “to bear, carry (bring) along, especially temporarily or to a definite (prescribed) conclusion.”
Jesus speaks a word, and that word carries the authority and power to accomplish the very purpose it was sent for.
“so is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do.” (Isaiah 55:11 WEB)
This is the rhema word, not just the written Scriptures in general. It’s not just about randomly flipping through the Bible or finding lists of Bible verses.
At different times and seasons, Jesus says different things to you, and these words will never contradict the Scriptures.
Therefore, you are not upholding yourself—you have no power to. Apart from Jesus, you cannot even do a thing. If He stops speaking to hold all things together, your body and the rest of creation will fall apart.
Have no trust in your arm of flesh for there is no power (dunamis—God’s miracle-working power) to save you from any troubles.
Instead, focus on receiving Jesus’ rhema word for your situation. It may come directly from the Holy Spirit, from a minister of God’s word, or even your fellow Christian friend. This is the word you need to prosper and experience God’s deliverance.
After you know what Jesus is saying to you, begin to agree with it. Believe and speak the same thing as Him, and that is how you activate the power contained in that word.
I realized that it is much easier to hear what Jesus is saying when you are listening or reading God’s word. As you receive the words, He will arrest your attention to certain portions and use that as a rhema word.
In my book “Messiah’s Miracles: The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ”, you can read all about the 37 miracles of Jesus Christ as recorded in the four gospels. Through it, I aim to show you God’s love and grace so that faith will come to you.
It is a book that will show you how good God is—when you see Jesus in action as the Father’s perfect representative. As you read, allow Jesus to speak to you and give you the rhema word you need for your awaited breakthrough!

From Nothing to All Things
“John answered, “A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven.” (John 3:27 WEB)
“I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5 WEB)
The two verses above reveal a clear-cut truth: apart from Jesus, there’s absolutely nothing we can do.
Do you really believe that even sinners who don’t care one bit about Jesus, need Him to even take a breath?
“He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.” (Colossians 1:17 WEB)
Ponder on this: when Jesus was a newborn baby wrapped in swaddling cloths, His very spirit was holding all things in creation together!
If sinners can do so many things without caring about Jesus at all, imagine what we children of God can do when we remain closely in Jesus—resting in His grace, depending on His Spirit and living by faith in Him.
“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 WEB)
It’s no surprise that if we can do nothing apart from Jesus, we can do all things when we remain vitally attached to Him in body, soul and spirit!
