講到19世紀的英國，不能不知道這位英國女詩人，伊莉莎白巴雷特勃朗寧 Elizabeth Barrett Browning。
出生於1806年3月6日，逝世於1861年6月29日。

伊莉莎白出生的年代就是影集劇中的時代，嶄露她的詩詞文學出版是在19世紀英國維多利亞女王時代，

對於她的詩作，大家較為熟知是她的愛情詩集，以"葡萄牙14行詩集"最為代表性作品。

這部詩集的創作起源是她遇到她的丈夫羅伯特勃朗寧之後，由於父親反對這門婚事，兩人計畫私奔，相約於義大利會合，最後也在義大利辭世。

伊莉莎白就把這段人生經歷，心境上的轉變，用洗鍊精準的詩詞文字表達。
