偷獵者在旱季放火燒林是印尼韋卡巴斯國家公園生態被破壞的最大原因。森林被燒毀後青草再生長時會吸引鹿、野豬等來覓食，方便偷獵者獵殺牠們。這些人為山火快速造成破壞而且難以控制，公園亦是其他極度瀕危物種如蘇門答臘象、蘇門答臘犀牛、爪哇虎等的棲息地。
Fires set by poachers is the biggest habitat degradation threat to the Way Kambas National Park on Indonesia’s Sumatra Island. The growth of fresh grass after the burning will attract deer, boars and other animals that are targeted by the poachers. These fires damage the forest in fast speed and cause threats to other critically endangered species like Sumatran elephants, Sumatran rhinos and Javan tigers.
