On the wall of my living room hangs a wooden board that says: “Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.”
We hear sentences like this so much that it goes straight through us without leaving a trace. But there is deep truth in it.
The big illusion is to think “I will be happy when…”
Psychology even has a name for this: arrival fallacy.
So the question is: How can I be happy now?
As someone who had history with depression, I can tell you this doesn’t mean to run away from negative emotions. This also doesn’t mean to try to be happy. Or to repeat mantras of positive thoughts.
This doesn’t mean to create the perfect bedroom, have the perfect morning routine, perfect nails, or wear color-coordinated outfits.
You can’t will yourself into being happy. (Trust me, I’ve tried.)
Like how water always flows once you remove the rocks that block the river, real happiness emerges within you when you remember who you are and who you are not.
You are not your thoughts. Not the voice inside your head that says “Her life is more interesting than me.” when you check your friend’s Instagram feed. Not when it tells you “I’m a failure.” after what you want badly didn’t happen. Or when it says: “This is all my fault” when he leaves you.
You are not your emotions. Not the heat you feel in your chest. The sunkenness in your stomach, or the ache in your heart. Dreadness, sadness, madness, even gladness, don’t define you.
You are not your childhood, your heartbreak, your trauma, or your illness.
You are the observer of these experiences. You hold them. The same way the ocean holds the waves, the forest holds the tree, the sky holds passing clouds.
Yes, you are that big.
And how wonderful it is to get to experience so much!
What does heartbreak taste like in your mouth? What does the sunset feel like on your skin? The wind at dawn on your hair?
All these, the privilege of being human. 💛

===========================
Steamforged Games is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Capcom to bring the iconic Resident Evil™ 2 video game to the board gamers of the world. Building on the success of previous titles including “Guild Ball” and “Dark Souls: The Board Game”, Steamforged Games will be launching this latest game, “Resident Evil™ 2: The Board Game” via Kickstarter in late Autumn 2017.
Steamforged is proud of its proven capability to bring video game IP to life as board games and plans to fully realise the core game experience of the much loved Resident Evil 2 world. “It’s a privilege and an honour to be trusted to bring such an important video game to life as a board game,” said Mat Hart, Creative Director and Co-founder of Steamforged Games. “Resident Evil 2 helped to define its own genre of games and has created a lasting legacy in video game history. Steamforged has several Resident Evil super fans on the team and so we have a deep understanding of what makes RE such a compelling game experience; one that still has legions of fans around the world still playing the game nearly two decades after its release. We’re determined to surprise and delight players new and old with this board game realisation, even the most hardcore of fans!”
Steamforged Games previously broke a number of Kickstarter records with their last game “Dark Souls™: The Board Game” including the highest funded board game ever launched on the KS platform. Steamforged takes immense pride in taking amazing game worlds and lovingly crafting them into high quality board and card games…we specialise in understanding what makes each video game so compelling and then unlocking that experience in the physical game space.

AMANDA IMANI PRODUCTIONS
AMANDA IMANI
Just 20 and having won awards and nominations, apart from coming up with a Malay album, an English EP and recently a new single Cemburu featuring Malique, not forgetting concerts abroad, it's business yet therapy for young Amanda, director of her own production company. Passionate is she in music and in every sense of the word. From writing, listening and performing, she recognised her creative talents as her strengths, and exploited these to create the best outcome, contributing towards the pleasure of her audience and community. Clearly age doesn't define her maturity and capabilities.
MT: Explain your experiences as a young woman in this industry, your thoughts on gender equality and an initiative you'd like to promote in aid of the skilled, talented and capable women of today.
AMANDA: I love every minute of being in this competitive industry as it's a privilege to be doing what I love most and being female, I have a feminine advantage when coupled with great vocals and presentation. As director I am accountable for the whole nine yards of branding, artiste and repertoire strategy, marketing, production, et cetera. All these experiences have moulded me to be very hands on. As a businesswoman, I like to be respected for my business intelligence, quality of music and entertainment expertise. I am also a great supporter of gender equality and my observation is that many may be culturally influenced that women are typically associated and valued for their more caring and nurturing roles rather than providing leadership and material substance in a business scenario. If I could set up an initiative in aid of today's women, I'd foster quality part-time careers in competitive packages as in quality positions that value women's expertise in their fields. And that part-time also not be exploited otherwise.
Influential women she admires: Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, her mother
