Join Leica Akademie and Ralph Gibson this December for an enriching virtual workshop that will clarify the bookmaking process in a clear and accessible manner. Starting with the creation of a book “dummy” or maquette which includes aspects of layout, design, double-page spreads, book cover impact and editorial thrust as well as binding, typography, separation for platemaking, distribution formulas and more will be addressed.

On HKFP today: The four largest Nordic newspapers marked the centenary of the Chinese Communist Party’s founding on Thursday with a joint front-page editorial denouncing the regime’s attacks on Hong Kong’s independent media. "Enough is enough," the open letter said, adding that "The world can no longer stand idly by as China gradually sucks the air out of freedom of the press in Hong Kong."

On Thursday morning, acting Chief Executive John Lee said that press freedom was assured under the security law.

Taiwan is one of the elements in the opposition between the U.S. and China, and the confrontation between the two powers is both a risk and an opportunity for Taiwan. It is not easy to have any of the above four qualities, but Taiwan must manage to joggle them all. Following instructions, Chiu Tai-san proposed “constructive ambiguity.” Although the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council commented coldly and said it’s “wordplay without sincerity,” it is still an indicator worthy of follow-up observation."
