兒子從鞦韆上摔倒了，哭得有點慘，旁邊還有很多小朋友在看。
我跟他說：「很痛就哭吧，覺得丟臉也沒關係。覺得難過想哭，不是丟臉的事。」
後來我跟他再次挑戰盪鞦韆。
這一次他盪得很高，有種在天上飛的感覺。
My son falls off the swing and he is crying his eyes out. A lot of kids nearby are watching him.
I say to him. ‘Cry, if it hurts you so much, even if you feel embarrassed. It’s not embarrassing to cry when you’re upset.’
Later we challenge the swing again.
This time, he swings up so high as if he was flying in the sky.

尷尬的 embarrassing/embarrassed/awkward怎麼區分？
這三個都有「尷尬、難為情」的意思
但我們分兩組看
embarrassed/embarrassing
這組很單純就是「某情境尷尬、丟臉」或「讓人覺得尷尬、丟臉」
🔘Being trapped by automatic doors is embarrassing. 😅
被自動門夾住是件尷尬的事
🔘She feels embarrassed when she has to make a dance solo in front of lots of people.
要在許多人前面創作獨舞，她覺得很丟臉、難為情。
awkward除了也有「尷尬、難為情」的意思，少數情況跟embarrassing意思一樣
🔸an embarrassing silence
🔹an awkward silence
看起來就敲極尷尬滴😰
🚥可是！awkward還有些意思是embarrassed跟embarrassing沒有的，像是
🚨形容「人行動笨拙、不自然的狀態/場景」
🚨形容人「歹逗陣、難相處」
🔘 Both of her parents suffered from polio as children and their walk was a little awkward. 她雙親小時候都得過小兒麻痺，所以他們走路姿態有點不自然/笨拙
🔘 Kids can be quite awkward sometimes, let alone adults.
