EVERYONE wants to retire comfortably. However, it would be difficult to enjoy your golden years without any worries if you do not have sufficient funds to support yourself during retirement.
While many are complacent with their retirement savings that have been set aside through their mandatory retirement contribution, it may not be enough to sustain you throughout your retirement years. Moreover, you may even find it difficult to earn an income to replenish your savings and cover any shortfalls once you have retired. Therefore, you need to save and invest to generate multiple sources of income during retirement.
The following are some other reasons why you should take steps to bolster your retirement fund today.
1. Long-term sustainability
Malaysians have a rising life expectancy, thanks to medical advancements, and this means that you will need to support yourself for a longer retirement period. At the same time, healthcare costs are escalating, which can lead to increased costs in retirement. As such, you need to take these factors into consideration when planning for your retirement.
2. Be self-reliant
As family sizes may have become smaller nowadays, it will take a lot more for children to support their parents during their retirement. You do not have to be a financial burden on your loved ones, especially as your children may have their own family to support, when you are able to generate your own income through your savings and investments.
3. Manage the impact of inflation
Inflation will erode your retirement fund as the value of your money today will not be the same in the future. By having a diversified savings and investment portfolio, you may hedge against the effects of inflation to protect your retirement fund.
To supplement your retirement savings for your future self, you may consider contributing into private retirement scheme (PRS) funds. Apart from building an additional income stream, you can also enjoy up to RM3,000 tax relief per year until 2025 and have peace of mind as your money in PRS will be protected from creditors.

Trading is a mental game.
If you want to excel in this endeavour, your mindset must be at peak performance.
But if you borrow money to trade, you erode whatever edge that you might have.
Here’s why…
Trading with borrowed money = Trading with money you can’t afford to lose.
And when you trade with money you can’t afford to lose, you make poor trading decisions because you have the “I can’t afford to lose” mentality.
So, what do you do?
- You shift your stop loss because you don’t want to take a loss
- You take tiny profits because you’re afraid of watching them turn to losers
- You average into your losers hoping to catch the bounce and recover your losses
Eventually, your poor decisions catch up with you and you lose everything (including the money you borrowed).
Now you’re worst off than before because not only are you broke — you’re also in debt.
Do you want this to happen to you?
Then, don’t borrow money to trade.
Repeat after me…
I’ll never borrow money to trade!

Complacency Let Covid Erode Taiwan’s Only Line of Defense
1. Opening line:
2. Background:
3. Key moment:
4. Outcome:
5. What to do: 國際專家建議應該怎麼做
7. Details:
All the virus had to do was get through the border.
Until this week, Taiwan’s Covid-19 containment appeared to be so effective that virtually no other defenses were put in place: few tests, no local surveillance to pick up undetected infection and close to zero vaccination.
Lauded as one of most successful places in the world at containment, a high level of complacency about the risks had set in among both the public and authorities. Covid-19 seemed to be something happening only in the outside world.
All the virus had to do was get through the border.
The virus’s opening was an ill-fated decision on April 15 to shorten quarantine for airline crew to just three days, as carriers struggled to operate their cargo lines with staff undergoing 14-day isolation periods. Infected pilots introduced a more transmissible U.K. variant, whose spread was then accelerated through a network of “hostess bars” -- places both staff and patrons were reluctant to be associated with, making contact tracing more difficult.
📌 Note:
The virus's opening was an ill-fated decision...
Infected pilots introduced a more transmissible U.K. variant, whose spread was then accelerated through a network of “hostess bars” -- places both staff and patrons were reluctant to be associated with, making contact tracing more difficult.
哇噻,尤其 "reluctant to be associated with",好。。。
Infected pilots carried a more transmissible U.K. variant, which then spread quickly through a network of "hostess bars". This also made contact tracing harder — because staff and customers didn't want to admit that they worked at or visited these bars.
Taiwan reported 267 new infections Wednesday, bringing the total over the past few days to 1,291 -- a small number in global terms but an astonishing one in a place that, before May 1, had posted just 1,132 cases during the entire pandemic.
The surge from zero to quadruple digits signals that undetected spread has been occurring for months, and concern is now growing that Taiwan will go the way of other cautionary tales, from the outbreak last year in Australia’s Victoria state that took a brutal three-month lockdown to quell, to Thailand’s ongoing surge driven by prison clusters.
"The surge from zero to quadruple"
"Go the way of other cautionary tales"
“If they have 300 diagnosed cases, they have 3,000 cases in the community -- they just don’t know it.” said Gregory Poland, a virologist and director of the Mayo Clinic’s Vaccine Research Group. “It’s going to require a hard lockdown, what’s called a circuit-breaker approach, and then getting the vaccine out as quickly as they can.”

Reminiscence (End Game Version)
Chapter one | Reminiscence (End Game Version)
Technological advancement vs The emotional regression (3D animator)
Technological advancement is perhaps the reason why people are still able to live amidst the Great Regression. In the AI cities, people distance themselves from each other. The AI started to develop something that the makers did not intend them to learn through self-learning algorithms: emotions.
In the city of Reminiscence, Ms AI was living a plain, repetitive and normal life like the others. One day, she discovered ancient life forms that's so different from her species, organic with blood and tissues. The great shock that led her to the urge for truth was then spreading throughout the city. And slowly day by day, the program that controls the AIs was overwritten and finally erased. At the very moment of losing control, the city started to fall apart and everyone started to gain self-consciousness, and realised that they are only stone-cold robots. Emotions in the AIs eventually started to erode their body to death.
Song:
Reminiscence is interesting in a subtle way. The passing of time, the happening of different events... they afterwards become fragmented memories in us. So can we seize the day when it passes?
【Lyrics】
#She come and gone
Left me alone
Three years no call
They said it was not my fault
I grabbed her wound
My weakness I poured
That’s how we were torn
They said it was not her fault
If I were a tree
Would you be my leaves
What keeps us believe
Our fragile love would always exist
If I were the sea
Would you be my fishes
Tell me you believe
Our fragile love would always exist
*Cry Cry out loud
I don’t need to be the one
who makes you smile
Fly Fly to someone I can’t shout
When you’re about to falls
I will keep my feet on the ground* #
Repeat #
Repeat *
