The pandemic has brought home the hard work of our food delivery riders. Day and night, rain or shine, they are out and about, getting our orders to us while we work from home, or when dining-in restrictions are in force.
His personal experience as a food delivery rider inspired Muhammad Ruzhael Marwazi from Institute of Technical Education, Singapore College Central to create this touching a short film called “Kejar” (or chase in Malay). It tells of the challenges delivery riders face as they “chase” as many orders as they can in a day.
Ruzhael’s film won the Best Direction Award (Student Category) at this year's ciNE65 Movie Maker Awards. These Awards are organised by NEXUS, Ministry of Defence, Singapore (MINDEF), which aims to capture our Singapore identity through the lens of our young filmmakers.

‘Chicken Rice’ was the Oxford English Dictionary Word of the Day on our National Day yesterday (https://www.oed.com/view/Entry/82932046)
The first citation given by the OED for the phrase is from a 1950 Straits Times advertisement for Swee Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant. I remember Swee Kee fondly. It used to be at Middle Road, but sadly closed in 1997.
Hawker food is central to our multicultural identity and a big part of our everyday life. It was a proud moment for us all when Hawker Culture was inscribed as Singapore’s first element on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 16 December 2020.

Here is a twist to the classic Chee Chong Fun. Instead of prawns, we serve this version with salmon belly that's cooked to perfection into two types of rice wrap: one layer which is deep fried and the the other, steamed.
*Malaysia, A Melting Pot of Flavours* 🥗
Kerabu, a slowly forgotten Malayan heritage, is a dish that has all the elements to represent Malaysia: it is punchy, tangy, sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, refreshing, herbaceous, all in one bowl. Just like how our nation is. We are a beautiful mix of cuisine, history and culture and this bowl of Kerabu is and amazing representation of that.
*Coconut & Venus Clam Soup* 🍲
This bowl of goodness was inspired by a local delicacy in Batang Kali, a small township at the outskirts of Selangor. There, this dish is cooked in the coconut fruit itself, where the flesh and juice would lend that special sweetness to the broth. In our version we've used plump Venus clams and unripe papaya for the added flavor twist.
*Claypot Curry Rice* 🍚
We present to you Kuching's Sunday staple: Curry Rice. Unlike any other versions you've had before, this Borneon version includes chicken charsiew, Hainanese steamed chicken, braised soy sauce and curry. The distinctive aroma that is similar to truffles comes from a native jungle nut called kulim. Please mix everything to enjoy!
*Tongkat Ali* 🍮
A hazelnut chocolate dessert with tongkat ali for your enjoyment. It's known by the locals that tongkat ali leads to happy endings.

我们几乎被关在在自己的国家将近一年了,相信每个人都很想念旅行。前几天,我翻开了我旅行时拍摄的所有视频,我发现了Songkran的录像,既好玩又令人难忘的一次旅行,所以我决定完成剪载这些视频。
那年,我和一位挚友一起去了曼谷庆祝泼水节,这是我第一次去泼水节,非常兴奋,一路都在宿醉着过。在这次旅行中我还食物中毒真的很烦人。2019那时年我仍是单身,在这次旅行中我喝了很多,而且在泼水节的第一天Yellow Claw 玩了他们的前5首单曲后我就翻车了,我摔断了指甲,再次差点丢了我证件和电话。

Almost a year we lockdown in our own country, I believe everyone misses traveling. Few days ago, I was watching back all the videos I took when I traveled and I found this Songkran footage. It was so fun and memorable, so I decided to finish up my video.
I traveled to Bangkok with one of my besties to celebrate Songkran, this is my first time going to Songkran. So excited, hangover and I got quite an annoying food poison during this trip. I was still single by 2019, I had so many drinks and food during this cray cray trip and I was literally KO on the first day of the Siam Songkran while Yellow Claw played their first 5 tracks. I broke my nails, almost lost my identity card and phone AGAIN.
Time flies, 3 years and now we are all stuck at home and it seems like MCO 2.0 is happening soon in Malaysia. So let’s just sit back and enjoy watching my travel vlog, Ukraine and Amsterdam vlog will be coming up soon. STAY TUNED!
