You were spotted on a bustling highway.
Tiny, ugly, tailless and terrified.
Your little body trembling with fear, a strong urine stench was emitting from your body.
A week later. I woke up to you snuggling in my bed; pillow to be exact, securely, warmly.
Since then new house laws were enforced.
My bed was your bed. I was your mother. I was your favourite human who provides you unlimited food and endless playtime.
You then befriended Twelve and Monkey.
Three of you shared a bed, a blanket, a bowl of water.
But not their food.
You, however, welcomed them to enjoy your bowl of kibbles generously.
My first thought was: what a loving cat.
In hindsight, you probably thought: The human will refill my bowl with fresh kibbles. Two of you can have my leftovers.
You were named Goku for two reasons; too vigorous as a kitten and for a long time I believed you were immortal, just like the manga character.
4 months later we moved.
You grew into a rebellious teenager. Longed for a taste of freedom and the outside world.
Your free and wild spirit wouldn’t keep you home. You broke the mosquito net and habitually left house for wildlife adventure.
Once you didn’t return for one and a half day.
Your picture was up. I canvassed the neighbourhood and called for you.
Nothing.
I thought you were gone for good. You craze for freedom after all.
The second night you returned meowing for food and water and snuggles. I performed a dramatic scene.
I believed you understood my performance, because ever since, you never once spent another night out.
You always come home.
Your freedom didn’t come free. It came with three cat bells.
When the three cat bells jangling they played as a smoothing refrain. They became my lullaby that reassured that you were around, healthily, happily.
And it calmed my anxious heart.
You. My lizard catcher. My life saviour.
My whole life, the relationship between the lizards and me have been fiery.
Shrieking, bouncing, yelling when there’s one.
You appeared to protect me from them.
I felt safe under your surveillance.
Despite some odd days you instinctively showed appreciation by bringing one to bed, at two in the morning, your appreciation is very much appreciated.
But now my lizard catcher is gone.
The walls creaked the night you left.
Lizards paraded in the house, hissed loudly, as if they were celebrating victory their biggest enemy, my lizard catcher has gone forever.
I loathed them for that.
Over the past one month, home has become something else.
It feels empty without your surveillance.
Soundless without your bells jangling.
The bed and pillow feel naked.
The air smells bitter and heavy and icy.
My body and imagination have gone riot.
Every insect I see around the house I suspect that is you come back to pay a visit.
Then my lungs behaving strange. Like a puntured balloon that will never reach a full measure of oxygen.
My heart feels like its sinking one inch deeper into a dark abyss each time I think of you.
A few times the baby at next house cries and I mistaken that is you that came home meowing for me.
Only to be reminded you are gone.
And I feel abandoned.
The day I planted your ashes in the white Morning Glory.
A butterfly dropped by.
Watching me place your Morning Glory on your favourite, regular spot near the gate, carefully, peacefully.
Now whenever my hearts sinks one inch deeper.
I step out of the house and stare at you; your white Morning Glory.
And I see you: your obstinacy, your haughtiness, your delicacy.
Your White Morning Glory, it’s growing free and it’s growing wild.
Just like you.

【給迪士尼CEO的公開信:促披露與新疆政府達成的秘密協議】An Open Letter to Bob Chapek, CEO Walt Disney Company
I call upon Disney to disclose the details of its agreements with Xinjiang authorities, as well as all the subsidies, funding, assistances and instructions that it has received from the authorities.
As the movie is widely considered as an attempt to spread propaganda and whitewash China's cultural genocide, I also urge Disney to suspend the screening of such a controversial movie and clarify its stance on human rights violations regarding re-education camps in the region.

[An Open Letter to Bob Chapek, CEO Walt Disney Company]
Dear Mr. Chapek,
Since the release of its teaser trailer last year, Mulan has already been under heavy global criticism. A few days ago, it was reported that Disney offers "special thanks" in its credits to eight government entities in Xinjiang where re-education camps are reportedly located, including the Turpan Municipal Bureau of Public Security. According to the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the Turpan Municipal Bureau of Public Security is responsible for running at least 14 re-education camps in the area "to extrajudicially detain minorities."
In October 2019, the U.S. Commerce Department already placed the department on its Entry List, for participating in "human rights violations and abuses in the implementation of China's campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, and high-technology surveillance against Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other members of Muslim minority groups in the XUAR."
While Disney has been completely remaining silent on the Uyghur issue, its cooperations with the officials responsible for brutal crackdowns on Uighur Muslim minority really sends an alarming signal to the world - what kind of values Disney advocates for, especially when the company's target market is the children worldwide.
Besides, the film also expresses thanks to three CCP's propaganda departments in Xinjiang, from the Publicity Department of CPC Turpan Municipal Committee, the Publicity Department of the CPC Turpan Gaochang District Municipal Committee, to Publicity Department of the CPC Shanshan County Committee. It casts more doubts on whether Mulan is the propaganda masterpiece that Disney works hand in hand with the CCP government to whitewash the cultural genocide and human violations on ethnic minorities in the region.
In fact, Mulan was filmed in 2018, the same year that China staged the hardest suppression on Uyghurs in the region. The film was also shot in locations where all these re-education camps have been documented. As media reports, there are at least seven re-education camps located all along the highway from the Turpan airport to Shanshan desert where the filming took place. Turpan was also the first documented case that political indoctrination was used against Uyghurs by the Chinese authority.
According to the 2019 Report on International Religious Freedom published by the U.S. Department of State, over a million of Uighurs, ethnic Kazakhs, Hui, members of other Muslim groups and some Uighur Christians were detained in internment camps in Xinjiang and subject to "forced disappearance, political indoctrination, torture, psychological and physical and psychological abuse, including forced sterilization and sexual abuse, forced labour, and prolonged detention without trial because of their religion and ethnicity."
As the incident has sparked global concerns, I call upon Disney to disclose the details of its agreements with Xinjiang authorities, as well as all the subsidies, funding, assistances and instructions that it has received from the authorities. As the movie is widely considered as an attempt to spread propaganda and whitewash China's cultural genocide, I also urge Disney to suspend the screening of such a controversial movie and clarify its stance on human rights violations regarding re-education camps in the region.

2018 Honda Forza 125
Honda’s segment-leading sports/GT Forza 125 scooter maintains its rapid upward trajectory, receiving a thorough-going restyle, plus electrically adjustable screen, LED indicators, new instrumentation, two all-new colour options. increased underseat storage space and an optional 45-litre Smart Key-linked top box that improve still further its all-round premium appeal.
Honda’s Forza 125 was designed specifically for discerning European scooter customers who demand the maximum out of their ride in every respect – style, presence, performance and specification. And right from its introduction in 2015 it has met and exceeded all expectations, evolving year on year with owner feedback and selling over 30,000 units to date.
Straight out of the crate the Forza 125 hit the ground rolling, deftly mixing traffic-busting agility – thanks to its compact dimensions – with ample ability for longer-range highway commute thanks to its engine performance, wind protection and comfort. It combines the comfort of a ‘GT’ (Grand Touring) scooter with a sports-oriented attitude and handling ability, while offering plenty of storage, a host of premium details plus Honda’s engineering innovation and high build quality.
Classy and agile, and expanding on its obvious success, the Forza 125 is not standing still: for 2018, maintaining a steep development curve, it has been redrawn with fresh new lines and several significant rider-focused upgrades.
- Adjustable electric screen controlled from the left handlebar
- Revised dash offers a mix of analogue and digital information
- LED indicators complement the LED headlight and taillight
- The Smart Key also now operates an optional 45-litre top box
- Refreshed design lines further enhance the premium feel
The Forza 125’s fully-refreshed look flows back from the new electric screen, which adjusts smoothly through 140mm and is designed to provide wind protection (with airflow directed around and over the rider’s head) and reduce wind noise. Stability and comfort at higher speeds – and for long distances – can be instantly exchanged for a greater sense of freedom with the screen in its lower position by simply pushing a switch on the left handlebar to move it to any point in the 140mm range.
Handlebar width remains 754mm as does mirror height of 1125mm, the perfect dimensions for slipping through streets clogged with cars – one of the Forza 125’s incremental development steps already in place from 2017 was to raise its own mirror height to avoid issues with car mirrors. Seat height is unchanged at 780mm; there’s plenty of room for two and the sit-in riding position cups the rider securely. The front and rear indicators are now LED, matching the headlight and taillight.
Two full-face helmets can be stored under the seat, which now offers increased storage space of 53.5 litres, up from 48 litres. It’s also possible to partition the storage area to house a helmet and/or rain gear and A4 sized bags. The front left inner fairing pocket is lockable, and its internal space can be arranged for the rider’s convenience, to hold a phone and water bottle, for instance. It also houses a 12V-1A charging socket.
The Forza 125’s Smart Key – as well as controlling the main ignition switch knob and compartment locking – also now manages the optional 45L removable top box, a first on a Honda scooter. With the Smart Key in the rider’s pocket the box automatically locks when the rider walks away. It can also be locked from the key. The top box switch is on its bottom surface, and to maintain the internal volume of the box the actuator mechanism is located in the rear body of the machine.
Revised instruments present analogue speedometer and rev-counter dials flanking a digital display that can switch between 3 modes (controlled by a switch on the left handlebar); odometer, range remaining and current fuel consumption; trip meter, average fuel consumption and timer; or ambient temperature thermometer and battery sensor.
The Forza’s sharp design lines and distinctive contemporary presence have played a big part in its success since launch in 2015. Now for the 2018 model, the design has been substantially re-worked. While the bold design lines remain instantly recognizable as a Forza 125, every panel has been revised to give the machine a slightly smoother, more mature appearance, with a more rounded, ‘stubby’ feel to the front end and slightly softer design lines throughout. Further heightening the new look, black signature points around the nose, front and side cowls give an added sense of sportiness.
