SUPPORT OUR GIRLS #choosetochallenge

In conjunction with International Women's Day 2021, we are launching our online crowdfunding campaign - Fight for Their Rights of Education: SDG 4, SDG 5. This crowdfunding campaign focuses on expanding our work in empowering our refugee girls.

Why? Some of our girls need to quit school once they reach puberty.

We are planning to increase our capacity to conduct all-girls classes. We realise that closing the gap of gender equality goes hand in hand with the awareness and education they obtain, be it formal or informal.

Come and join us, to help our girls to be able to challenge their social norms. They deserve more than early marriage and adhering to the stay-at-home social roles.

Our girls have chosen to dream!

美國在台協會經濟組副組長邵藹帝於上周三舉行的《2020性別議題國際趨勢研討會》中提到：「促進女性的經濟力量是政府在推動經濟成長與平等上的最重要的一步。」此研討會是由行政院性別平等處舉辦，參與者為來自全台灣各地的公務人員。

邵副組長讚許台灣身為印太地區女性政治賦權的重要領導者，也強調美台在女性經濟賦權上的合作，展現了雙方在政治、經濟與國際的共享價值。身為一個致力推廣女性經濟賦權的美國外交官， 邵副組長指出，美台之間的努力會讓這個世界更為繁榮與和平！

另外，美國國務院全球婦女議題辦公室也自11月25日推出一個為期16天的社群媒體宣傳，以紀念「消除對婦女暴力國際日」。這個計畫將提出對女性使用暴力防治的具體措施、分享最佳作法以及近期的研究、強調暴力防治，以及改變讓犯罪仍能持續發生的心態。這些努力再度強調了美國致力於在全球防範並且因應性別暴力。#StriveTogetherThriveTogether #16Days #16DaysofActivism #IDEVAW #OrangetheWorld

“Empowering women is the single most important step the governments can take to boost economic growth and promote equality, ” AIT’s Economic Deputy Chief Arati Shroff highlighted to Taiwan’s civil service employees during the “2020 Conference on Global Trends in Gender Equality” hosted by Taiwan’s Executive Yuan on November 25.

Ms. Shroff lauded Taiwan’s progress as a leader in the Indo Pacific in the area of women’s political empowerment and reaffirmed that U.S.-Taiwan cooperation on women’s economic empowerment showcases our shared political, economic, and international values. As a passionate U.S. diplomat promoting women’s empowerment throughout her career, Ms. Shroff told the audience that our joint efforts between the United States and Taiwan could make the world a more prosperous and peaceful place!

Also, on November 25, the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues (S/GWI) at the U.S. Department of State launched a 16-day social media campaign to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW.) This campaign will highlight concrete ways to combat violence against women, share best practices and recent research, emphasize violence prevention, and aim to change the mindsets that enable such crimes to persist. These efforts reaffirm the enduring U.S. commitment to preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) globally.

It is truly an honour to become the first UN Women Goodwill Ambassador to Asia and the Pacific. My mother instilled in me very early on a strong sense of justice and fierce belief in the resilience and strength of women, and these values continue to guide me today. I am so deeply grateful for the opportunity to work towards achieving greater gender equality in the region, especially in the areas of eliminating gender-based violence and in providing equal opportunity for girls and women to realize their full potential.

For the next 2 years I will be representing UN Women to promote gender equality and other UN Women priority goals, raise funds and build partnerships. I will also continue to promote public awareness through education, dialogue and cooperation with schools, communities and governments with my @donttellmehowtodress campaign.
