Q1: What is success mean to you?
I'm not sure what defines success, for me, success or failure is just a “phenomenon” that keeps changing. “Everything with form is unreal; if all forms are seen as unreal, the Tathagata will be perceived.” There is no rule to achieve success, we don’t know whether or not we can succeed before we start exploring.
Q2: How did you get into film and media? Can you tell me about your childhood?
As a child, I was obsessed with children's literature and illustrations, it was the reason I decided to study Design in HK PolyU. My first scriptwriting class in School of Creative Media, was a turning point. Dr. Tam Ka Ming’s teachings guided me towards the film industry. All I know is that I couldn’t help but follow my desire to use a camera to tell stories. It’s what led me drifting down this life-long career path. At the age of 23, I filmed my first movie, “High Noon". It portrays the dilemma of teens becoming adults and stepping into society.
Q3: How do you approach story or scene as a director, and what do you want to achieve on set?
The motifs of my movies are youth, growth, desire, bright and dark sides of human nature.
I think making movie is a journey of “Discovery”, “Recovery” and “Being”. Youth and teen growth is not only the topic for my debut, it is the topic of life that I concern.
Q4: Why you also started a talent agency? You also produce, why you choose to do so many things?
When I started my company Dumb Youth, my 1st intention was to protect those artists. Then I realize that a part of my role in life is to embrace my life with my "companions". I believe that the people and things around us coexists in the same space for a reason. I live by the Kahlil Gibran quote: “And all work is empty save when there is love”.
Q5: What inspires you about the film world and in HK Film Industry?
Love and Death, Lust and Desire, Humanity and Spirituality, lightness, heaviness and thickness.
For Hong Kong Film industry, I think the creativity and imagination always inspire me the most, and most importantly, people here have the ability to find humor amongst adversity.

If this were a picture with a positive quote, you would’ve thought I had a great day.
You would’ve thought my life is full of good luck and positivity, and things are always easy for me because of the ways I look at things.
Truth is, it’s not.
In fact, I had a rough day with unexpected bumps & setbacks the whole day. As much as I knew these experience will eventually help me grow, I can’t help but feel a little down & demotivated.😞
But you wouldn’t guessed that if I didn’t say it out…would you?🧐
Just this morning, my patient told me that she’s on a Social Media Detox.
With more time spent on social media, it’s easy to put ourselves in a toxic pressure where we think we have to “live the best life” all the time.
As a person who tend to avoid sharing negative things in life, I can relate to that. I always have the mindset that I should NOT talk about the bad stuff, the negative stuff online, because I don’t want to make social media a depressing space.
But life is not perfect.
In fact, we have and we NEED the “lows”…so we can appreciate the “highs”. It is important for us to acknowledge our negative emotions and accept it as a part of growth. After all, it is never a good thing to hide your devil, but to learn how to co-exist with it.
We are humans. And our emotions, grey or bright, are what make our lives colourful. Admitting that you’re going through something bad in life once in a while doesn’t make you weak, it makes you more human.
I guess this was a long post for saying “I had a bad day”.😂 But hey, it’s me, and I like sharing stuff in my brain. So if you had a bad day, know that it too shall pass, and if Kayla can do it, you can do it better. 😆💪

Steve Jobs 講過,"People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1000 things."
Business is about making tough choices. Who is your primary customer? ...
What Strategic Boundaries Have You Set?
Opportunities to avoid!
(1) Generate US$100 million recurring annual revenue
(2) Sustain a 15% growth rate
(3) Be number one or two in the market, with the potential to be number one in five years
(4) Offer standardized noncustomized products ans services
(5) Have a clear exit plan
Crazy!
What not to do and what opportunities to avoid?
Whatever it is!
How Are You Generating Creative Tension?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
This is our last vlog of 2020. Can you believe it? As strange as this year has been, thankfully it has flown by for our little family. This was the year I wore a mask more than I wore a bra. It was also the year I saw my postman more than my own family and friends. Still, I am thankful for my loved ones being healthy and well. I know everybody is sick of 2020 and hopes the New Year will be better. I am optimistic about the future but honestly, I'm just taking it one day at a time and celebrating little wins. I read a quote that says 2021 shouldn't be looked at as some magical year. Instead, we must also take ownership of our actions, change our habits to support our growth and make health and happiness a priority. Here's to not only GOING through 2021 but GROWING through it!!
Wishing you a SAFE HEALTHY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. May your bowel movements always be smooth and regular.
All my love,
Bubz xo

What people don't realize, is that Japan is far more diverse than they may think.
With a couple hours on the road, you can end up in the middle of nowhere.
and this is where things can get a little exciting.
Living in this huge island country, you can surround yourself with all sorts of landscapes. From the depths of vast sand dunes, to the heights of snow capped mountains, there’s a lot more than meets the eye.
I grew up in Tokyo and there’s not much to complain about.
The city’s a photographer’s dream, there’s always something to capture.
But for some reason, it felt empty to me.
Initially I was probably guilty of thinking I knew everything about my country,
But little did I know, there was a whole new world to explore out there.
It was with these interactions, that I finally found what I was searching for, and gave me a whole new sense of appreciation for a country that it turns out, I didn’t know so well.
Interactions with not just the local people, but fellow travelers, each with their own unique passions, and experiences taught me that there’s so much to gain, if you just go after it.
There’s always new places, people and experiences, just waiting for you to go and explore, but unless you take that first step, you never know what you might find.
Originally I wanted to document Japan from a local's perspective, and hope that both Japanese and tourists from other countries would take their time to explore outside the mainstream. But the more I traveled, the more I realized the lessons I learnt were far more valuable. There is a well-known quote "Growth and Comfort cannot co-exist". As cliche as it sounds, I don't think there's a better phrase that can summarize this experience.
