Diverse Gifts for the Body of Christ
“Yet I wish that all men were like me. However each man has his own gift from God, one of this kind, and another of that kind.” (1 Corinthians 7:7 WEB)
You are not just another person.
You have your own gift from God, and He has also given you a calling. He designed each of us individually and in a personal way.
“For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot would say, “Because I’m not the hand, I’m not part of the body,” it is not therefore not part of the body. If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now they are many members, but one body. The eye can’t tell the hand, “I have no need for you,” or again the head to the feet, “I have no need for you.”” (1 Corinthians 12:14-21 WEB)
The apostle Paul used members of the body to represent believers with different types of gifts.
The foot can represent evangelists who bring the Gospel to the nations.
The hand can represent miracle workers and people who minister in gifts of healings.
The eye and ears could represent prophets and pastors who frequently see visions and hear from God.
It is definitely not limited to these body parts—God’s gifts are very diverse.
Each person has a different function in the body of Christ, and all of us are important in our own way.
Through your gift, you can do things that I cannot, and I serve a different purpose that builds up the body of Christ.
Declare: “I have a gift from God and a calling on my life. The Holy Spirit who distributed these gifts to me will also show me how to operate in them. I have an important role in the body of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”

What “In Christ” Means
“For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things are held together. He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him; and through him to reconcile all things to himself, by him, whether things on the earth, or things in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross.” (Colossians 1:16-20 WEB)
The central focus of Heaven is our Lord Jesus Christ.
He is the head of the church. When we received Him as Lord, we became members of His body. This is what it means to be IN CHRIST.
We all have different callings and purposes, just like different parts of the body. But we need each other, and the whole body is built up in love.
To be in Christ means that whatever He is and has, is also yours. Your new identity is inseparable from Him.
If a person touches a table, we say, “John just touched the table.” We don’t say, “The hand that is on John touched the table.”You are part of the body of Christ, so God treats you as Christ.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;” (Ephesians 1:3 WEB)
God has placed every spiritual blessing in Heaven in Christ. When we identify with Christ and realize that whatever is His is also ours, we can begin to experience these truths as observable realities in our life.
Say this with me, “Because I am in Christ, God’s righteousness, grace, favor, mercy, power, honor, protection, divine life, and every spiritual gift is also mine. This truth overrides all temporal facts in my life right now, in Jesus’ name, Amen!”

My Mother
Oil painting 75x47cm 1982 Hong Kong
My mother’s maiden name was Huangpu Daoan and she was born in Taoyuan County, Hunan. The Huangpu family had fallen upon hard times, but her father was an avid reader who counted an original copy of the Twenty Four Histories in his collection. My mother attended the Zhounan Women School in Changsha then fled an arranged marriage to study at Daxia University in Shanghai. She quit the university after marrying my father. Together they had six children and when the Japanese invaded, she fled to Chongqing with relatives. When my father went to Taiwan in 1949 with Chiang Kai-shek’s government, the cross-strait separation meant they never did meet again in this life. When her children grew up and moved to different parts of the country, my mother applied to become a primary school teacher. She kept me and my little brother by her side and made the ends meet as best as she could.
My mother’s health was always poor and underwent many operations. She even fainted once at the front of the classroom. In 1950, she took me to the countryside to seek refuge with her brother. My uncle was a “small landowner” who had been persecuted by the farmers’ co-operative during the land reforms to cough up his “ill-gotten gains.” My grandma was so terrified that she chose to drown herself. My mother also tried to drown herself one night but I immediately woke my uncle up. He lit a torch and we fished my mother out of the dam with a bamboo pole. Many years later, my mother told me that it seemed so bright under the water that she thought the Guanyin Goddess had come to save her. On a pillar of the simple wooden house used as a dormitory by the primary school, she had pasted a picture of the Guanyin Goddess sitting in the lotus position from the packaging of a cigarette box.
We waited and waited, but when we finally received word from Taiwan in 1978, it was bad news. My father had passed away in Taipei! In 1980, I received permission to go to Hong Kong. Five years later, my little brother accompanied her to Taipei where she could finally burn incense at my father’s grave….Four years later, she moved with me and my big sister’s entire family to Taipei. She fell sick a short while later; when we took her to the Chang Gung Hospital in Keelung, the doctor said that it was organ failure.
I was very busy at the time and I didn’t realize how serious my mother’s condition was at first. As I was massaging her icy-cold hands during one visit, she asked me, “Mau-kun, was your mother great or not?” I was taken by surprise and did not know what to say. I eventually answered: “Let’s not use the word great. You are a wonderful example…” My mother patted the back of my hand…
I almost choked on my tears during the simple funeral in Keelung. Oh, mother, how much you suffered! You even donated what little wages you earned towards flood relief. You taught me to write in a neat hand, to be fluent in my writings, and to lead an earnest life….My mother was a truly great woman. We refurbished my father’s tomb and placed the urn with my mothers’ ashes inside the coffin by my father’s shoulder….They can now talk about ancient Chinese poetry for all time…

Now I don't mean to be rude, but Moso-mom has been told for many years that she looks like Goma-chan from Shonen Ashibe... https://youtu.be/4eZNB24RonI
For that reason, I've made a Spotted Seal bread with sesame seeds inside that look something like the seals you'd see in an aquarium.
'Gomafuazarashi' (spotted seal) made with 'goma' (sesame)... haha, what a corny joke! But, I was surprised to find out that 'gomafuazarashi' is 'spotted seal' in English... there's no sesame (goma) in the name! Will this lame joke even translate into English?!
I put cheese (the kind that stretches when melted and goes very well with sesame seeds) inside so you can't go wrong with the flavors.
*Recipe* (8 Spotted Seals)
1. Knead together: 225g (1 1/2 cups) bread flour, 15g (1/8 cup) light brown sugar (any kind is okay), 2g (1/2 tsp) salt, 3g (1/2 tsp) dry yeast, 105g (2/3 cups) tepid water (it was cold inside on the day I made this, so around 30 degrees C or 85 F), 15g (1 Tablespoon) fresh cream and 23g (1 1/2 Tablespoons) milk.
2. After it has been roughly combined, knead in 20g (1 1/2 Tablespoons) of unsalted butter. Halfway through, add 10g (1 Tablespoon) of black sesame seeds and knead until it becomes smooth.
3. Knead into a ball and place in a bowl that has been coated lightly with vegetable oil, and allow it to ferment for 40 minutes at 35 degrees C (95 F) until it doubles in size (first proof).
4. Punch down the dough to remove the gas bubbles.
5. Divide the ball into 8 equal parts and further cut up the parts that will become the hands. Take all 16 pieces and pull on the smooth sides of each and roll them into balls so that the cut end is on the inside.
6. Cover with a damp cloth and let sit for 15 minutes (bench rest).
7. Put the cheese in. This time I used half a stick of 'Sakeru Cheese' (a Japanese string cheese brand) in each. Tuck in the cheese and close the opening.
8. With dampened scissors, construct the tail by making a cut.
9. Cut the 'hand' dough balls in half and stick them on either side of the balls in 7.
10. Leave the dough to ferment at 35 degrees C (95 F) for 35 minutes, until it expands to 1.5 times its size (second proof).
11. Lightly sprinkle bread flour on the surface using a tea strainer.
12. Make the eyes and nose by pressing in chocolate chips.
13. Make slits for whiskers with a dampened knife of scissors.
14. Reduce preheated oven from 190 degrees C (375 F) to 160 C (320 F) and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce again to 150 C (300 F) and back for an additional 4 minutes.
15. Take a picture of that ugly/cute thing. Let that gooey cheese stretch as you take a bite. Yummy.
If it cools down, wrap it in plastic wrap and warm it up in the microwave for about 15 seconds. The gooeyness will come back.

https://youtu.be/FBVGtnVSCCM
冷めてしまったら、ラップに包んで電子レンジで15秒ほど温めて。ビヨーンが復活します。

It was modern urban life's answer to a movie premiere, complete with hulking black SUVs, gawkers and screamers, barricades and video paparazzi.
The scene was the Reebok Store on Philadelphia's South Street. The debut was for sneakers. And 500 people, most of them school-age, were standing in line, waiting to see a basketball player and a rap star.
Allen Iverson and 50 Cent met the media yesterday afternoon in an event staged to promote Iverson's new Answer 7 shoe and 50 Cent's new G6.
Iverson, of course, is Reebok's star in the basketball-shoe endorsement business and one of the hottest merchandise sellers in the NBA. For 50 Cent, though, signature shoes are something new.
But the 76ers guard said that pairing the two for promotional purposes (and billboards across America) made perfect sense. Hip-hop and the NBA, he said, go together like peanut butter and jelly.
"All rappers do is watch basketball," he said. "All we do is listen to rap and watch videos."
50 Cent echoed that thought. "I told the people at Reebok: Put me next to A.I. I want to be hot."
Iverson's new shoe, which he will wear on the court, has a suggested retail price of $115. The G6, meant for leisure wear, goes for $80.50, with the 50 cents going to charity.
These are relatively good times for Reebok, which recently issued its best quarterly earning report in six years. While Nike dominates the basketball shoe business, Reebok, based in Canton, Mass., has new hopes of eating into the industry giant's market share.
Nike still has Michael Jordan, the unchallenged king of the basketball shoe, with a LeBron James product line arriving in stores soon.
Last month, though, Reebok signed Houston Rockets center Yao Ming away from Nike, a move likely to have more impact overseas than here. And it has Iverson.
"The Iverson shoes have been very successful," said John Horan, publisher of Sports Goods Intelligence, an industry newsletter based in Glen Mills. "Kids really identify with him because he's been through it all. He has a lot of currency, and Reebok has basically made a lifetime commitment to him."
Among those in line to see Iverson and friend yesterday was Fred Anderson, 28, of Willingboro, Burlington County, carrying two bullet-proof vests that he'd sewn by hand for the celebrities.
Iverson's was white with parts of a blue Sixers jersey on it, No. 3; 50 Cent's was silver and black and bore his name.
Bringing such a gift to the rapper made perfect sense; 50 Cent was shot nine times three years ago and always wears a vest when he performs. Anderson figured that what he did for the one man he ought to do for the other.
"I'm hoping they'll accept the vests and maybe that they can help me get a clothing line started," Anderson said. "If not, if I can get a picture with them holding the vests, that would do."
More typical of the crowd, in terms of age and outlook, was Marqus Yip, 13, of West Philadelphia. In a white shopping bag, he had an Iverson basketball, an Iverson picture, and newly purchased Answer 7 sneakers, white with a black heel and silver trim. He was hoping to get autographs on all the items.
"He just loves A.I.," explained his mother, Jacqueline Holmes, who had taken him out of school to be there. "The Iverson gear is how I keep the A's and B's on his report card. It's an incentive. He knows that if you don't get the A's and B's, you don't get the stuff."
