What a great day last night. After finished the race, I got back to the hotel. Had lunch and the have a short nap. Then say goodby to my friend @bashirabdi204

Then I received a message on Instagram from a Malaysian, Nik who based in Newcastle and they would like to invite me to come over to the race site for Nasi Lemak as they have set up a camp at the field next to it over there there, together with a group of Malaysian (Akmal, Mahat, Shu, Hilmi) and other members.

Took a 2 mile walk from the hotel that I stayed to their camp, and throughout the journey, I got to see the runners still doing their run. Last 2 mile to the finishing line. Gave them some cheer and motivate them to keep going. Jog or brisk walk, don't stop.

Super happy to have Malaysian food - Nasi lemak over there. We have a great time chatting and sharing about the race experience and got to know more about each other.

Later I got invited to one of their house, Abang Jamal, for coffee time and dinner. Got to meet their family members at his home and they are all so kind and thoughtful. Brought up some cakes, snacks, of course coffee ☕.

Warm welcome from them and then we had dinner together (kuey teow ladna, chicken, basmati rice).

We exchanged ideas, thoughts and sharing of our own experiences. I got to learn some new valuable information from them.

Then Abang Jamal fetch me back to the hotel at 10pm. Once I entered the lobby of the hotel, I got to see the Elite Athletes like @kingcheserek

And the organizer, Matt.

And so I joined them. We have a great time laughing, talking, chatting. They are really funny and lovely. Super happy to spend time with them. Forgot to take a wefie for this moment! 😭

Enjoy the atmosphere so much. Wanna visit the 👑 @kingcheserek definitely after the Empire State Building Run Up and to train with them.

I am looking forward already to come back to Newcastle for the Great North Run 2022 and this time I will be prepare for it and to hit a much faster timing (perhaps the NR!).

What’s one thing that comes to your mind when you think of Aaron? “His sweet smile” says Papa.

You always smile so cheekily! It’s like you have something up your sleeves. You would take a piece of tissue to clean the table. After 3 wipes, run to the bin and come back to proudly tell us “Throw”! We will tell you “Cannot waste! Yeye beat!” The playful you will beat your hand to show us how yeye would lightly slap your hand if he’s home.

Aaron is 18 months old! That’s 1 and a half years of you, my dearest sonshine. You still prefer to call me Mimi which is music to my ears! You can baby-call me “mimi” for as long as you like because I know that I will miss that baby you very soon. You are still speaking mostly 1 syllabus words and some new favorite words include, mei mei, kor kor, there, nice, car, bus, throw, bang, yes, no, piggy, bubbles, egg, bread and please! Bao bao is still ba ba now. You take instructions well, better on things that interest you - like making coffee with papa and we tell you “Want to cycle?” You will run to your shoe rack, take your helmet! You love car rides and the vehicles on the road. You will look out of the windows and very excitedly exclaim “Mimi mimi!”! I don’t even have to turn to know that you are pointing at the vehicle in front of us. You will only stop calling mimi after I have acknowledged you by saying “Oh yes, is that the bus, Aaron!” You will do a slow nod, with eyes closed and say mmm!

You are still unadventurous with food, extremely particular with appearance of food. You refused red bean pancake because it’s reddish black. Your favorite food are snacks and eggs - any way we prepare, you love it! Snack reward system hasn’t worked on you - to you, no means no.

You have 8 upper teeth and 8 lower teeth, which is 3 more lower teeth from last month! You are growing way too fast, my love. It’s such a dilemma, loving to see you meet milestones yet wanting you to grow up slow. Sigh… nonetheless, I’m enjoying all the time I have with you before we start you at preschool in January 2022, when you’re 2 years old. Happy 18 months old, Aaron boy. I love you so so much! YES, my fellow performers, we survived 365 of the darkest days for theatre worldwide 🙏🏼 and the theatre community is slowly seeing a small "Pancaran Cahaya” as our arts scene is slowly coming back to life.

Our hearts bleed for those in the arts community who have lost their source of livelihood over the past year, and companies who have had to suffer cancellations and losses. We at Enfiniti weren’t spared either - we had to postpone Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical TWICE 😪 2020 to 2021 and now (insyaallah) to 2022. No shows mean no work for hundreds of people usually involved in a production like #PGLmusical. And NO BUSINESS to sustain a company of 20 plus staff like Enfiniti 😭

But TODAY, being World Theatre Day, my dearest brothers and sisters in the Arts Community, let’s spend today celebrating WHY we all chose to be performing artists. Pat yourselves on the back for all the stories you’ve shared, the joy you’ve brought to audiences who came to immerse themselves and lose themselves in the magic.

When this passes (soon, hopefully), we will all move into this next normal with a new sense of community, resilience, hope, and optimism. Now we know we need to stay open to new ideas, new technology, new ways of staging, and we will come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.

Let’s look forward to that day when we can celebrate the glory and magic of live performances together with all our wonderful audiences, once again.
