A lot of people asked me why I love Fender Duo Sonic so much! My first vintage Duo Sonic was a 1963 Brown guard Duo-Sonic from East Village Guitars in Kyoto Japan. That tone, you just cannot get from a Stratocaster or other guitars, because 22.5 inch neck!! So the pitches are very sensitive! I had to learn how to not press hard on my left 🖐! And I have worked on my bending technique with soft touch because I just don’t want to change the frets! All original parts except the strings!! So I am so thankful for this special experience🙏❤️🎸 Hope you know why I love my vintage Fender Duo Sonic and how I developed my bending technique and my touch! So here we go!! Tomo Fujita possesses all the elements of great musicianship: astounding technical ability, flawless rhythm skills, and a total command of his instrument. But if asked, Tomo would tell you that music is not just about playing. It’s about feeling. Tomo earned a degree at Berklee College of Music and has been a faculty member at Berklee since 1993. Thanks so much for watching my YouTube channel! It's time for my new lesson for this week.

It's Lesson #6!! How about bending technique? Most people practice bending with phrases. But I normally practice only bending part. Please watch my video for the details.

1) Practice bending with C Major scale on 3rd, 2nd and 1st strings.
Slowly, checking the right pitch. Try to use less pressure from your fret hand.

2) Similar idea on E Major scale. Only use the 2nd string. Bend each 2nd note to 3rd note.
This way you can play like melodies.

3) Apply this technique into C slow blues. Play slowly to focus on each pitches.
Then you can play it in tempo. Bend 1st & 2nd strings.

4) Now change the key! It’s E! Focus to bend with 2nd & 3rd strings.
Watch out each pitches carefully, because different strings set, different positions has a different tension.

It’s so important not to use too much pressure from your left hand. Use as much as less pressure possible!
