What's Mensuration to Ethiopians?

In Ethiopia, the common tongue they speak is Amharic. Menstrual period ‘የወር አበባ’ (pronounce as yewer abeba) literally means ‘Month Flower’. How poetic.

However, in various tribes of Ethiopia, it is also being referred to as ‘እድፍ (pronounce as idif)’ meaning ‘Dirt’, and ‘ጋዳዎ (gadawo)’ meaning ‘Disease of the abdomen”. Such stigma and shaming of menstruation causes young girls deprived of menstrual hygiene management products (pads) in this 21st century.
