Semalam last patient yang saya tengok, seorang ayah bawak anak lelaki umur 4 tahun 10 bulan. Reason bawa jumpa dokte sebab cikgu tadika suruh bawak, nak tengok anaknya ada ADHD ke tak
Anaknya nama Umar. Masuk bilik dokte elok je terus duduk atas kerusi. Pandang dokte. Good eye contact. Not wandering around. Not touching here and there. Ok first impression tak nampak macam ADHD. Bagi pen kat Umar suruh lukis spiderman sebab nampak dia pakai baju spiderman. Umar malu. So dokte lukis spiderman dulu. Umar sambung lukis. Ok laju je. Good pencil grip
Tanya ayah kenapa cikgu cakap macamtu? Ayah cakap cikgu bagitau dalam kelas tak duduk diam. Tak fokus masa belajar. Ni report card dia dokte cikgu suruh bawak. Masa tu ingatkan report card kindy yang biasa. Tapi tengok terus terkejut “wow ni macam report card sekolah kebangsaan!” 😳😳 list all the subjects (math, science, bm, english, seni with grades???? He got D for bm, C for science, B for math) APEKAH??
Then ayah keluarkan kertas exam (wait, what..there is exam for 4 y/o kids??) BM he got 11/100. Ayah nampak confuse. Dia pun tak rasa anak dia ada masalah. Tapi cikgu cakap anak macam ada ciri ADHD. Ayah pun dah rasa panik. Kat rumah ok je dokte. Boleh ikut arahan. Boleh makan guna sudu garpu tangan. Sepah rumah tu biasa lah. Tapi kalau ajar buku ni A, ni B, ni C memang tak nak ikut sangat. Anak first perempuan. Memang lain lah dengan anak lelaki
Tanya ayah Umar ni suka main? Sangattt. Umar ni suka bergerak2 ke? Maksudnya tak boleh duduk setempat lama2? Ye betul. Suka main mainan yang hands on with texture? Macam play dough ke? Ye betul. Ok ayah for what i see Umar takde ciri ADHD (after few more questions and examination). Tapi Umar ni kinesthetic learner. Tapi orang selalu salah anggap budak macam ni ‘hyperactive’ sebab tak nak duk diam kat meja masa belajar. Tapi suka main (padehal memang umur ni tanggungjawab dia main je😅)
Tanya ayah Umar dah boleh dress and undress himself? Dah pandai. Gunting kertas? Tak sangat. Butang baju? Belum. Bagitau ayah yang time ni yang kena focus ialah fine motor skill. Jangan push untuk academically lagi
Dokte bagi ayah dua pilihan untuk Umar:
1) Tukar ke play school. Lebih sesuai untuk perkembangan Umar
2) Kalau nak sekolah sama ayah kat rumah kena usaha buat cara pengajaran yang sesuai untuk kinesthetic learner
3) Selit jugak advice untuk ayah cut sugar intake and gadget time
Ayah faham. Balik rumah nak discuss dengan ibu dulu macamane. Tapi dokte still refer kepada OT so ayah boleh belajar cara yang betul and for further assessment nanti. Umar pun dah siap lukis. Tunjuk kat dokte Umar lukis spider siap ada 8 legs 🕷good job Umar! 👍🏻 then cerita spiderman warna blue & red. Ada spiderman jahat nama dia venom. Ye Umar dokte tahu kat rumah dah ada budak 2 ketul cerita salasilah keluarga spiderman 😆
Lepas Umar dah balik teringat kat my Umar Hadif. Sedih rasa bila dipaksa macam tu sebab Umar kat rumah tu pun sejenis kinesthetic learner. Ajar cara conventional mengadap buku memang boleh jadi geram. Nak ajar kena sambil lompat trampoline. Atau buat alphabet guna play dough
Hmm tapi macam manapun can we adult let the kids be kids? Janganlah merepek paksa budak besar tu buat exam pastu letak grading pastu bagitau anak encik macam ‘gagal’ pastu menambah stress parents and budak2 dalam dunia yang serba nak cepat & stress ni. We actually destroy the love of learning in children 💔

蕃茄雞蛋牛肉上海麪
材料:
蕃茄(大)4個
急凍金錢腱半隻
上海粗麪2個
雞蛋6隻
蔥1條
處理:
1. 大火煲滾1鑊水,放上海麪,水再滾起時,冚蓋,熄火,浸30分鐘。
2. 牛腱,清水解凍。
3. 牛腱解凍大約3分鐘,打橫切薄片,再用清水解凍。
4. 上海麪已浸了30分鐘,檢查一下是否已軟身,擎乾水,清水沖洗乾淨,擎乾水。
5. 牛腱已完全解凍,清水沖洗乾淨,擎乾水,廚紙索乾。
6. 牛腱調味:
a. 生粉1湯匙
b. 油1湯匙
c. 胡椒粉半茶匙
d. 蠔油1湯匙
e. 糖半湯匙
撈勻。
7. 蕃茄,去椗,1開4。
雞蛋,打在碗內,打勻。
蔥,洗淨,切粒。
烹調:
1. 白鑊,大火,加入蕃茄爆香1分鐘,加入清水2湯碗(約800毫升)。
2. 加入調味料:
a. 雞粉1茶匙
b. 糖1茶匙
c. 茄汁100毫升
大火煮滾。
3. 加入上海麪。
4. 另一邊鑊,大火燒熱油2湯匙。
5. 倒入蛋漿,四面推至凝固,放上碟。
6. 麪已滾起,加入牛腱,再大火滾1分鐘。
7. 夾起麪,放入湯碗內。
8. 放好蕃茄及牛肉,加入滑蛋。
9. 注入蕃茄濃湯。
10. 放上蔥粒。
11. 完成,可享用。
Beef Shanghainese noodles with tomatoes and eggs
Ingredients:
Tomatoes (large) 4 Nos.
Frozen golden coin muscle half No.
Shanghainese noodles (thick) 2 Nos.
Eggs 6 Nos.
Green onion 1 No.
Preparation:
1. Heat up a wok of water at high flame. Put noodles. Wait for boiling up. Cover up the wok. Turn off fire. Soak for 30 minutes.
2. The beef, defrost in tap water.
3. The beef has been defrosted for 3 minutes, thinly slice it horizontally. Defrost in tap water again.
4. The noodles have been soaked for 30 minutes, check if it is soft. Drain. Rinse thoroughly. Drain.
5. The beef has been totally defrosted, rinse thoroughly. Drain. Dry with kitchen towel.
6. Season the beef:
a. Tapioca starch 1 tbsp
b. Oil 1 tbsp
c. Pepper 0.5 tsp
d. Oyster sauce 1 tbsp
e. Sugar 0.5 tbsp
Mix well.
7. Tomatoes, remove anchors, divide each into 4 shares.
Eggs, break in a bowl. Beat well.
Green onion, get it rinsed and diced.
Steps:
1. Plain wok, with high flame. Put tomatoes, fry for a minute at high flame. Add in 2 big bowls of water (about 800ml).
2. Add seasoning:
a. Chicken powder 1 tsp
b. Sugar 1 tsp
c. Tomato ketchup 100ml
Heat up at high flame.
3. Add in noodles.
4. On the other side, heat up oil 2 tbsp at high flame in wok.
5. Add in egg syrup, push to the centre of wok until it gets condensed. Put on plate.
6. Noodles have been boiled up, add in beef. Heat up at high flame for a minute.
7. Pick up noodles and put in a big bowl.
8. Put tomatoes and beef on plate in good order, add in scrambled eggs.
9. Pour in tomato thick soup.
10. Put green onion cubes on top.
11. Complete. Serve.

1 year ago today, I went on a semester long exchange to study at Korea's Sungkyunkwan University #성균관대학교 for Fall 2020. 🇰🇷It was truly an exchange journey that really changed my life. I still can't help to think back to all of the amazing people that I met on this exchange, all of the awesome adventures exploring Korea, making the best out of every day in the 5 months that I was there for. That's why I selected A to Z of my favourite memories from August to January to show you guys why going on exchange can be so life-changing and it is definitely the best decision that I have made! カヌレの型は、ずっと欲しかったけどけっこうお高い。いつもこの動画で使ったクグロフ型を使ってカヌレを作って楽しんでいました。( https://youtu.be/JqCU6YOvdCo )
そんな時に知った100円ショップの情報。たった100円でカヌレの型が買えるなんて!夢みたい!とセリアのシリコーンモールド カヌレ型をずっと探していました。そして、この度、やっとやっと入手することができました!
ずいぶん長いこと探していたセリアのシリコーンモールド カヌレ型だったので、迷いなく4個を即買い。
しかしここで問題が発生。家に帰ってパッケージの裏を見てみたら、そこには衝撃の事実が!
なんと『耐熱温度以下であっても20分以内で使用してください』との説明書き。カヌレって1時間連続加熱がほぼ常識。これどうすりゃいいのよ!と考えて、苦肉の方法で焼成しています。焼き、腰折れ、色々と改善の余地ありなのですが、材料は16個分ぴったりの卵液量で、しかも卵黄1個で作れるように調整しました。焼き菓子と蝉の声のアンバランスもお楽しみください。
*レシピ*(3.5 ✕ H3.5センチのミニカヌレ16個/400ml分)
薄力粉:70g
Mサイズの卵の卵黄:1個分
グラニュー糖:115g
牛乳:250g
ラム酒:10g
バニラオイル:3振り
無塩バター(型に塗る用):適量
1.薄力粉 70gをフルっておく。
2.ボウルに卵黄 1個分(Mサイズの卵の卵黄 20g)を溶く。
3.グラニュー糖 115gを入れ混ぜる。
4.60℃に温めた牛乳 250gを(3)に少し加え混ぜる。
5.(1)を加え混ぜる。混ぜすぎないこと。
6.(4)の残りの牛乳を加え混ぜる。
7.ラム酒 10gとバニラオイル 3振り加え混ぜる。
8.アミで濾す。
9.冷蔵庫で12〜24時間休ませる。
10.卵液を冷蔵庫から出し、1時間ほどおき、常温にしておく。
11.カヌレ型に無塩バターをちょっと多めに塗り、冷蔵庫に入れておく。
12.オーブンは220℃にしっかり予熱しておく。
13.(10)の常温にした卵液を静かに底から混ぜる。
14.(11)の型に流し入れる。
15.220℃に予熱したオーブンで20分焼く。
16.一旦取り出し3分待つ。
17.再び、220℃に予熱しておいたオーブンに入れ、170℃に変更し20分焼く。
18.再び、一旦取り出し3分待つ。
19.再び、170℃に予熱したオーブンで20分焼く。
20.オーブンから取り出し、型のまま10分おく。
21.網に取り出す。
22.でけた。
オーブン温度を
220℃を230℃に 170℃を180℃に上げ、もっとカリカリに焼けるように再挑戦したいです。
改善の余地ありだけど、家族がおいしいと言ってくれたからよし。しかし、このカヌレ型かわいい。ゼリーやチョコレートにも使いたいわ。

That's when I learned about a 100 yen shop information. How can you buy a canelé mold for only 100 yen? It's like a dream! I've been looking for the Seria Silicone Canele molds for a long time. And now I've finally, finally got one!
I've been looking for these molds for a long time, so I bought 4 of them right away without hesitation.
But here's the problem. When I got home and looked at the back of the package, I found a shocking fact! It said, "Please use within 20 minutes even if the temperature is below the heat resistant temperature." It's almost common knowledge that canelés should be heated continuously for an hour. I thought to myself, "What am I supposed to do?"
Thinking that, somehow I managed to bake it.
There is a lot of room for improvement in the baking process, but I have adjusted the ingredients so that I can make 16 canelés with exactly the right amount of egg liquid, and only one egg yolk.
Please enjoy the imbalance between the baked goods and the cicadas' voices.
* Recipe * (3.5 ✕ H3.5 cm mini canelés 16 pieces / 400 ml)
Cake flour: 70g
Egg yolk of M size egg: 1
Granulated sugar: 115g
Milk: 250g
Rum: 10g
Vanilla oil: 3 shakes
Unsalted butter (for applying to mold): Appropriate amount
1.Sift 70g of cake flour.
2.In a bowl, beat the yolk of one egg (20g of yolk from a medium egg).
3.Mix in 115g of granulated sugar.
4.Add a little from 250g of warmed milk (60℃) to (3) and mix.
5.Add (1) and mix. Do not mix too much.
6.Add the remaining milk from (4) and mix.
7.Add 10g of rum and 3 shakes of vanilla oil.
8.Strain through a mesh.
9.Let it rest in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours.
10.Remove the egg mixture from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about an hour.
11.Grease a canelé mold with a little more unsalted butter and put it in the refrigerator.
12.Preheat the oven to 220℃.
13.Gently mix the egg liquid at room temperature in (10) from the bottom.
14.Pour the mixture into the mold of (11).
15.Bake in a preheated oven at 220℃ for 20 minutes.
16.Take it out and wait 3 minutes.
17.Place in the preheated oven again at 220℃, change the temperature to 170℃, and bake for 20 minutes.
18.Take it out again and wait for 3 minutes.
19.Bake again in a preheated oven at 170℃ for 20 minutes.
20.Remove from the oven and leave the mold for 10 minutes.
21.Take it out to the net.
22.It's done.
I'd like to try again to raise the oven temperature from 220°C to 230°C and from 170°C to 180°C, so that it bakes more crispy. There's room for improvement, but my family said it was delicious, so that's good. By the way, these cannelé molds are cute. I want to use them for jelly and chocolate.
