What is the Difference Between the Old and New Testament?
The Old Testament tells us the promise given to Abraham and how Israel was consistently unable to deserve it through obeying the Law.
The New Testament shows us how God made a way to qualify us to become children of Abraham and heirs of the world through the righteousness of faith, apart from the Law.
The Old Testament prophesied the coming of the One who would save Israel and the world from their sins, whereas the New Testament plainly reveals that Jesus is the prophesied Savior.
The Old Testament hints of the blessedness of not having sins imputed to you whereas the New Testament clearly tells us who we are and what we have in Christ.
What are some other differences between the OT and NT that can you think of?

imputed righteousness 在 Milton Goh Blog and Sermon Notes Facebook 的最佳解答
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.”” (Hebrews 8:12 WEB)
Dear brethren, our Heavenly Father doesn’t keep any records of your sins. As He promised, He remembers your sins and lawless deeds no more—that’s really good news!
When the Books of Remembrance/Memory are opened before Jesus’ throne at the end of time, there will not be any record of your sins in them.
There will only be records of your good works done in faith.
“Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh doesn’t impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit.” (Psalms 32:2 WEB)
All your sins were already imputed to Jesus at the cross—it’s not on your record—as if you never committed them.
They were all punished in Jesus’ body as though He had committed the sins.
Does that mean that God has lost His memory or that He is blind to the sins that you’re committing now?
No, He’s not holding a record of them against you to punish you, but He will still correct you because He loves you too much to see you suffering the earthly consequences of your sins.
“and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him; For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?” (Hebrews 12:5-7 WEB)
Our Heavenly Father corrects us for our profit so that we can enjoy the abundant life that Jesus died for us to receive, so that means He doesn’t correct you with sicknesses, accidents or harm.
“Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? For they indeed, for a few days, punished us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.” (Hebrews 12:9-11 WEB)
There is an “afterwards” once the discipline has been completed.
The primary way He corrects us is through His word, but if we remain unrepentantly fixed in our sinful ways, then He will use other ways such as allowing frustrating circumstances (example: getting painfully lectured by your spouse *ahem*) to teach us the lessons we need to learn.
No matter what, you have something to rejoice about: Your Heavenly Father doesn’t hold your sins against you and He loves you so much that He bothers to correct you for your benefit!
