Signet Ring of Authority
“Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck, and he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him, “Bow the knee!” He set him over all the land of Egypt. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.”” (Genesis 41:39-44 WEB)
Before Pharaoh put on the signet ring on Joseph’s hand, he spoke, giving Joseph authority over the nation of Egypt. The ring therefore represents the authority of the King. Whoever wears the ring has been authorized to act on the King’s behalf, and the Kingdom’s resources are at this person’s disposal.
In the story of Joseph, Joseph is a picture of Jesus, who was accused of committing a crime that He did not commit, and then subsequently raised to the right hand of God, having all authority and power, as well as the name above every other name.
Jesus endured the greatest humiliation in order to purchase the greatest salvation for mankind. That is why Abba God gave Jesus the “signet ring”—all authority, glory, honor, and power.
We don’t really find any significant thing about rings until Jesus mentions it in His parable of the prodigal son. I believe He was drawing a reference to the story of Joseph because the “best robe” also parallels with the “robes of fine linen” that Pharaoh gave to Joseph.
““But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat, and celebrate; for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’ They began to celebrate.” (Luke 15:22-24 WEB)
In the parable, we find that the ring is given to the prodigal son who is a picture of us who are saved by Grace through faith. We did not do anything to deserve forgiveness, but God forgave and restored us to sonship because of His love and Grace.
So Jesus was the original recipient of the ring, and then Jesus said that Abba God gave the ring to us.
In the context of the parable, a family ring like that would have an insignia of the rich family, and when buying things, the prodigal son could just show the signet, meaning to say, “Charge the bill to my father’s tab.”
The ring being given to us tells us that we have received authority from God to act in His name, and to receive good things because of being in His family. We enjoy all these benefits at God’s expense, and He is most willing to provide what we need.
“The glory which you have given me, I have given to them; that they may be one, even as we are one; I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one; that the world may know that you sent me, and loved them, even as you loved me.” (John 17:22-23 WEB)
Before Jesus was arrested and eventually crucified, He prayed to the Father that the glory which belonged to Him (Jesus) should be given to us as well. This is like giving the signet ring which was His, to us.
See yourself as one with God, and make no distinction between what is His and what is yours. We have been joined to Christ through the new birth and the New Covenant of Grace.
““He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.” (Luke 15:31 WEB)
Do you believe this, that everything that belongs to God also belongs to you? You are so wealthy because God gave you every spiritual blessing so that you lack nothing.
Whenever you feel like you have nothing, use the signet ring as a visual aid. Imagine Abba God placing it on your finger and reminding you that all authority that belongs to Jesus has also been given to you. In Christ, you have everything that you need!

Are We Baptized with Fire?
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.””(Matthew 3:11-12 NKJV)
I have read what some believers wrote about the passage above, saying that we need the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire. I imagine that many well-intentioned preachers are also preaching this passionately in a loud voice to their congregation.
They totally misunderstood what being baptized with fire means.
If you read the passage above carefully, you will notice that the sentence about the baptism of Holy Spirit and fire is parallel to the next sentence.
In the next sentence, the “Holy Spirit” is a parallel with God’s “wheat” being gathered into the barn, while “fire” is a parallel with the “chaff” being burnt up with unquenchable fire.
The baptism of fire is not a good thing to experience!
When we read the Amplified Bible translation of the passage, the meaning becomes very clear:
““As for me, I baptize you with water because of [your] repentance [that is, because you are willing to change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret your sin and live a changed life], but He (the Messiah) who is coming after me is mightier [more powerful, more noble] than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to remove [even as His slave]; He will baptize you [who truly repent] with the Holy Spirit and [you who remain unrepentant] with fire (judgment). His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear out His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat (believers) into His barn (kingdom), but He will burn up the chaff (the unrepentant) with unquenchable fire.”” (Matthew 3:11-12 AMP)
The word “baptize” means “to immerse”, like when you dive into a pool, you are immersed with water.
Believers are baptized with the Holy Spirit, whereas unbelievers will be baptized with the fires of Hell and the lake of fire.
The wages of sin is death, and sin has to be punished. Being burnt by the fires of Hell is the way which unbelievers have to pay for their sins, since they rejected the payment which Jesus made on their behalf; it is not set to their account. This fiery eternal torment is what being baptized with fire means.
Therefore a person cannot be baptized with both the Holy Spirit and with fire—it is only one or the other, depending on whether he receives or rejects Jesus as Lord.
So please, don’t tell believers that they have to be baptized with fire, for being burnt up like chaff in unquenchable fire is NOT their portion!

A very interesting text about how we teach reading to kids! (值得一讀!)
https://www.apmreports.org/episode/2019/08/22/whats-wrong-how-schools-teach-reading
學界爭論不休的 whole language approach 和 systematic phonics approach,究竟哪一個有更多的科學理據,去支持成為較適合幼兒閱讀的策略呢?
Whole language approach 著重提供一個豐富的、包含讀寫聽說的語言環境,著重文字在文本中呈現出來的意思,鼓勵孩子運用思考力從不同的 cues(例如圖畫、上文下理、beginning sound)去猜估文字,講求make sense of language。孩子有學習 phonics 的,只是不完整也沒有系統。
.graphic cues (what do the letters tell you about what the word might be?)
.syntactic cues (what kind of word could it be, for example, a noun or a verb?)
.semantic cues (what word would make sense here, based on the context?)
另一套觀點則強調要 explicitly, systematically 教授 letter 同 sound 的關係,怎樣 decode words,即是在孩子初學習英語時,集中把 phonics 的系統循序漸進式地好好掌握。
香港的學校多是採用 whole language approach,而家長努力付費外補的多是 phonics。
文中詳細描述了能夠掌握有效 phonics 策略的學生是如何閱讀:
//Here's what happens when a reader who has good phonics skills comes to a word she doesn't recognize in print. She stops at the word and sounds it out. If it's a word she knows the meaning of, she has now linked the spelling of the word with its pronunciation. If she doesn't know the meaning of the word, she can use context to try to figure it out.
By about second grade, a typically developing reader needs just a few exposures to a word through understanding both the pronunciation and the spelling for that word to be stored in her memory. She doesn't know that word because she memorized it as a visual image. She knows that word because at some point she successfully sounded it out.
The more words she stores in her memory this way, the more she can focus on the meaning of what she's reading; she'll eventually be using less brain power to identify words and will be able to devote more brain power to comprehending what she's reading.//
近年很多學者從科學研究的角度證實 systematic phonics approach 對提升孩子閱讀能力更有幫助。

In my recent video I got a little over zealous and made some bold claims about Taiwanese people not caring about their own national pride.... I think some people may have taken my words out of context. So in this video I attempt to clarify my meaning along with a few other things that people mentioned in the previous videos comments.

關於最後提到的 Intercultural Training,如果你有興趣了解更多內容的話,以下是我擷取的一小段!
Silence!
Pauses, silence and tone of voice are all categorized under the non-verbal channels of communication. Intonation patterns carry a lot of meaning in English. In fact, this is a high-context aspect of the way English is used. Various other languages stress all syllables equally; for speakers of those languages the meaning carried by stress in English is not transparent.
Nb. Silence is understood to mean silence as used deliberately to communicating something (disagreement, for example). The length of pauses – during conversations in person but also on the phone – is tolerated differently according to cultural preferences.

Here is my English cover of "Yume Tourou," the last song in my "Your Name" series! Thanks so much to everyone that has watched my videos, subscribed, given thumbs up, and shared! I'm so glad that you all like what I'm doing, and I hope you'll continue to check out my future videos :)
*Meaning of the song's title:
Yume = "dream"
Tourou = "lantern"
There is a tradition called "tourou nagashi" where a paper lantern is set afloat during the last day of the O-bon festival. The lantern lights the way for the souls of the departed to cross back into the afterlife after they visit at O-bon (hopefully I'm correct in the details). So I think this title is meant to give the image of a lantern lighting the way into or out of a dream. I think this song really only makes sense in the context of the movie :)

Ah, if only our voices that speak in the night
Instead of fading into the edges of light at far ends of Earth
Could find their way through all of space, all of time
Oh, and if they could, what would we say?
What will the words be that we first exchange?
Let’s make a promise, one that will never fade
On my count of three, say it with me, yeah
Ah, I’m told that some part of every wish will be heard
But lately I lost sight of the truth in those words
I can’t even remember when I gave up believing
What could have been the reasoning?
Ah, you told me in the very moment that the rain subsides
And everywhere a rainbow is born or dies
And where the end of this life lies
You always would insist there was something that begins nearby
One day we’ll go, unearth emotions we’d buried all our lives
We’ll high-five love we’ve yet to discover and give a kiss to time
The five dimensions may laugh right in my face
But I will keep on looking at you, babe
Let’s decide on a sign for when we say “nice to meet you” again
I’m on my way to you, chasing after your name
いつか行こう 全生命も未到 未開拓
itsuka ikou zen-seimei mo mitou mikaitaku
の感情にハイタッチして 時間にキスを

5次元にからかわれて それでも君をみるよ
