這張專輯再釋出前，許多人大概就因為專輯名稱 folklore 而有預感會是一張全新風格的作品，另外泰勒絲也在貼文中暗示大家這是一個她想了很久但一直沒完成的事情，也因此讓很多粉絲確信會是一張民謠作品
出生鄉村樂的泰勒絲，民謠可以算是近親樂種，在樂風上的分類，鄉村樂來自於民謠音樂的支派，兩者最大的不同是在樂器的使用及編曲的手法，常見的鄉村樂樂器有斑鳩琴和曼陀林，而民謠音樂常見的有 Cajon、鋼弦、尼龍弦吉他、小提琴、中提琴等弦樂，在整體氛圍上，鄉村樂更為外放活潑，民謠樂則相對唯美精緻。也因此在這作品裡面，大家可以聽到很多 Cajon 和一些打擊樂器的聲音，相較於先期幾張流行音樂專混搭爵士鼓和鼓機的聲響明顯不同，Mr. 很喜歡在 mad woman 這首歌中 Cajon 的聲音，非常的舒服又有律動感！如果要說在這張專輯中，有哪一首可以聽到早期泰勒絲的感覺或是鄉村樂的影子，我會說是 betty，在這首歌中，大家可以聽到有種 Speak Now 時期音樂的感覺，也是泰勒絲開始從鄉村樂轉往流行樂的開始。
另外在整張專輯中，最令我喜愛的歌就是和獨立民謠製作人 Bon Iver 合作的 exile，在這首歌中，其實不會聽到太多的民謠的影子，反而比較像是整張中最為流行的男女對唱情歌，而 Mr. 喜歡的點在於其聲音層次上的堆疊，非常的夢幻又帶有空間感，特別是兩者在對唱時，Mr. 聽到那個合唱及弦樂的拉扯，瞬間就把這首歌的情緒及亮點帶到最高，並且將人帶進下一段故事之中，以一張 16 首歌的專輯，exile 作為前四分之一的尾曲，非常驚人也非常亮眼！
進到第五首 my tears ricochet 時，不知道大家有沒有一種回到 Delicate 的感覺，而之前也有人跟我說泰勒絲的第五首一定是最動人又最私人的歌，等等看完影片或是現在按一下暫停，去聽聽看 The Archer 跟 Delicate，然後再聽一次 my tears ricochet，大家一定會非常佩服她編排音樂的巧妙心思及製作手法呈現上的相似，若說這次比較大的差別就也只是節奏組沒這麼強烈，但是聽到後段大家就會發現鼓聲的出現以及電子和聲的堆疊！
第六第七兩首也是非常好聽的作品，不過在製作上，總覺得缺了一角，另一個有趣的是，大家聽到 seven, cardigan 等歌時，不知道有沒有聯想到 Lana Del Rey，特別是 seven 給了我很強烈的連結感，那種氣音式的口吻，也是先前泰勒絲比較少見的演唱方式！
This is me trying 是 Mr. 覺得不論在編曲上或是混音製作上，都非常高品質的一首歌，清晰的聲音迴響，在耳邊不斷圍繞堆疊，非常舒服好聽＝）
illicit affairs 和 invisible string 大概是整張專輯聽起來最民謠的兩首，簡單的吉他、卡轟、人聲，就構築了美好的畫面與律動，後面有些故意留下的刷弦聲也很美、很自然
總結整張專輯的曲序安排，從宏觀角度來看，專輯歌曲的同質性很高，塑造了非常專一的音樂氛圍，然而在每一首歌中卻又都帶有不同的音樂元素，曲序的安排也讓安靜與活潑彼此交錯使聽眾在聽專輯的同時非常順暢，就好像聽一首一小時的歌曲，隨著泰勒絲自然地走過了悲歡離合與人生起落！
