Who is Messiah?

Messiah or Mashiach is a Hebrew term meaning "the anointed one" or "the chosen one". It comes from the Hebrew word "mashach" which means to anoint with oil. The Greek equivalent of Messiah is "Christos", translated in English as Christ.

In the Old Testament, whenever God chooses a new priest, prophet or king, He will instruct that chosen person to be anointed with oil as a sign of being specially set apart in service to Him.
For example, Moses anointed Aaron as a priest, Elijah anointed Elisha as a prophet in his place and Samuel anointed David as king over Israel.

Even furnishings in the tabernacle of Moses were anointed with oil to be set apart as holy objects for worshipping God.

So anything anointed with oil to be set apart to God is considered "maschiach".

However all these actually point to the true Messiah who would be anointed and chosen by God to complete the most important mission of all—to save mankind from their sins.

The ‘anointing oil is a picture of the Holy Spirit who comes upon the Messiah to provide divine empowerment.

In the Old Testament, there are many prophecies that point to this Messiah who would save Israel from their sins.

Jewish Rabbis mistakenly believe that there are two different Messiahs: one is "Messiah the Son of Joseph" (Mashiach Ben Yosef) and the other "Messiah the Son of David" (Mashiach Ben David).
This is because both are portrayed so differently that they think it's talking about two different people.

Mashiach Ben Yosef is depicted as a suffering servant who suffers and dies on behalf of Israel, whereas Mashiach Ben David is described as a glorious, triumphant King who defeats Israel's enemies and saves her, establishing a worldwide kingdom of peace.

Many Jews wrongly think that Mashiach Ben Yosef will act as a forerunner to announce the coming of Mashiach Ben David.

“The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”” (John‬ ‭4:25-26‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus plainly declared Himself to be the Messiah and fulfillment of the prophecies about both Mashiach Ben Yosef and Mashiach Ben David.

These prophecies are not talking about two different men, but refer to the different purposes of Jesus' first and second coming.

During His first coming, Jesus came as the Lamb of God to die as a perfect atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world. At that time, He didn’t come to destroy men but to save men’s lives.

In His impending second coming, Jesus will return majestically as the Lion of the tribe of Judah to defeat the Antichrist and save Israel from him and his wicked armies.
Jesus will then establish His kingdom from Jerusalem and usher in a thousand year period of world peace known as "The Millennial Reign of Christ".
Finally, He will sit on His throne as the Judge over the living and the dead, rendering to each one according to their works.

“Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” (John‬ ‭14:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

While He was on earth, Jesus authenticated His claims of being the Messiah by working numerous miraculous signs and wonders, causing many to believe in Him.

Out of the many miracles, thirty-seven specific ones were selected by God to be recorded in the four gospels in the New Testament.
This is definitely not by chance—God wants us to study these miracles and see different aspects about Him revealed in them.

In my upcoming book "Messiah's Miracles—The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ", I expound all thirty-seven miracles and unveil God's heart of goodness, grace, mercy and love towards us as demonstrated through these miracles.

It is not God’s will for a Christian to live a natural, powerless life.
We are supposed to be seeing and enjoying the miraculous power of God at work in our lives and in the lives of those we minister to.
We can't afford to only have the word of God without the power of God—effective evangelism hinges on the potent combination of both.

“For God’s Kingdom is not in word, but in power.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Often we don't experience the power of God because we don't expect it to.
Some of us pray just soothe our emotional turmoil, and others go for church just to hear a good message to feed the mind, and walk off to lunch untransformed, never really encountering Jesus.

What better way to feed our faith for the miraculous than to meditate on the miracles that Jesus did? This faith-feeding process is what I feel led to facilitate through my upcoming book.

1. 您受誰的影響最深？

我認為藝術是每個人的基本養分，可以是詩、文學、繪畫、音樂，只要我們願意，都可以在我們的生活產生極大的影響。進一步來看，我們可以發現創作者（例如作曲家）受到大自然、他們所處的時代以及週遭的人們的影響。這是一個我深受感動的雙贏局面。

In my opinion, the arts are a basic nutrition for everyone!
If it's poetry, literature, paintings, music - those art forms all has a tremendous impact as long as we let them influence our lives!
At a closer look, we find that the creators f.e. composers themselves were influenced by nature, by their time and also by their human surroundings. It's a fascinating "win-win situation" that I am very impressed by.

2. 你的樂器型號是？

我使用的是2007年製，Muramatus 14K金長笛，Tsubasa 的吹頭管。

I am playing a 14K all gold Muramatsu flute with a Tsubasa style headjoint. It was made in 2007.

3. 你有寵物嗎？

我跟我的丈夫（Christian Schmitt）都經常在外旅行演出，因此我們在家中沒有養寵物，因為他們可能經常會覺得很孤單吧。

Since my husband (www.christianschmitt.info) and me are traveling to concerts a lot, we don't have pets at our home. They probably would feel too lonely most of the time.

4. 你做些什麼運動？

我是會在很晚的時候去健身房運動的那種人。如果是在旅行，我經常會去飯店的健身房運動，因為很方便。
伸展我們的背部、維持健康是很重要的。同時我們也別忘了要伸展我們的肌肉，因為演奏長笛的姿式並不是全然對稱平衡的。
另外，我最近發現擊劍是一個適合右撇子的神奇運動，它旋轉身體的方向與長笛演奏時相反，非常好的運動！

I am one of the people who go to the gym at very late hours in the evening. Also while traveling I frequently take some time for a workout at the hotels gym, which is very convenient.
It's important to strengthen our back and to stay in good physical health. Also we should not forget to stretch our muscles since holding the flute is not symmetrical.
By the way: I recently discovered fencing to be a fantastic sport for right handed people. One has to twist the body in the other direction from flute playing - very good exercise :))

5. 如果不當長笛家，你想要做什麼？

我覺得我很幸運在11歲的時候，就停止追求不可能會成功的芭蕾舞蹈生涯。
對我而言，音樂家一直都是想要追求的，很開心、也很感激我現在的生活與職業。
在每一場音樂會，我都非常開心可以與觀眾分享我的音樂。

I think I was lucky not to continue an impossible career as a ballet dancer already by the age of eleven :))
For me to be a musician is just what I always wanted to be. I am very happy and thankful for my life and profession.
I am pleased to share my music with the audiences at every single concert.

6. 在舞台上最難忘的經驗？

一個最難忘的經驗是2007年在羅馬教皇本篤十六世面前演出，由杜達美指揮。這場演出由DG唱片公司發行DVD。

One of the most memorable experiences has been the concert in Rome for Pope Benedikt in 2007, with Gustavo Dudamel.
A DVD recording of this performance was issued on Deutsche Grammophon.

7. 你在學校中，最不喜歡的學科是？

我必須承認數學是我最不喜歡的一個。大部分的語言課，像拉丁文、希臘文等，我比較喜歡。

I have to admit, that mathematics was not one of my favorites...
Most language classes including ancient Latin and Greek I liked much better.

8. 你最推薦哪個長笛練習曲？

我覺得塔法奈爾的音階練習是每個長笛家每天都要練習的，然後再把音樂添加上去，你可以練習中變換強弱、節奏、articulation、速度，或想像不同的作曲家風格。

I am a huge promoter of Taffanel Scales as an everydays exercise for every flutists life. Let's just make sure to add music to it.
Have fun by changing dynamics, rhythm, articulation, tempo and imagine different composers styles while practicing.

9. 請問您對年輕長笛家們有什麼建議，關於學習、準備考試，或任何事情上？

專心在演奏品質的建立，總是把尊重音樂的內涵擺第一位，但是也要具備自己的風格。從聆聽別人去知道自己的程度，最好去聽那些同儕中最好的演奏者。
要知道作為一個音樂家，傳達與溝通是我們的責任，也是我們的喜悅。

Be focused on developing your playing in quality, always respect the meaning of the music first, but also add individual style.
Know your playing level by listening to others, preferably listening to the best players of your peer group.
Be aware that as a musician it is our responsibility and our pleasure to give and to communicate!

Kasutera (Castella) is a very popular Japanese sponge cake made from a few ingredients.

It is a very typical Oyatsu (snack) in Japan :)

I am going to bake it in a rice cooker, but of course you can bake it in an oven!
I don't recommend baking any kind of cake in a really good rice cooker (it can damage your pot), so please try if you don't mind it!!!

FYI from Wikipedia:

Now a specialty of Nagasaki, Kasutera was brought by way of Portuguese merchants in the 16th century. The name is derived from Portuguese Pão de Castela, meaning "bread from Castile". Castella cake is usually sold in long boxes, with the cake inside being approximately 27 cm long. It is somewhat similar to Madeira cake, also associated with Portugal, but its closest relative is pão-de-ló, also a Portuguese cake.

There are similar types of sponge cakes named after the same fashion, in French: Pain d'Espagne, in Italian: Pan di Spagna, in Portuguese: Pão de Espanha, in Romanian: Pandişpan, in Bulgarian: пандишпан, in Greek: Pantespani, in Turkish: Pandispanya (Castile is a former kingdom of Spain comprising its central provinces, thus Pain d'Espagne and other variants are quasi-synonymous to "bread from Castile").

Kasutera

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 2hrs (incl. cooking time)
Number of servings: N/A

Ingredients:
3 eggs
90g (3.2oz.) sugar
45g (1.6oz.) cake flour*
45g (1.6oz.) bread flour (strong flour)*
2 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. honey
butter
*you can use 90g (3.2oz.) all purpose flour instead

Directions:
1. Warm the milk in a saucepan. Add honey and mix well.
2. Place the eggs and sugar in a large bowl. Beat them with an electric mixer until white and fluffy.
3. Add 1 in 2. Place the bowl over a pan of hot water. Mix until the batter continuously drips back into the bowl like a ribbon when you scoop it up.
4. Sift in flour and gently cut through the mixture with a spatula until combined.
5. Butter the pot of the rice cooker and pour in the mixture. Drop the pot lightly on the counter to raise the air bubbles out of the batter. Place the pot in the rice cooker, close the rice cooker, then press the button to start. *When it is half-baked, press the button to start (cook) once again.
6. When it's done, let cool on a wire rack until warm. Then place it in a plastic bag (to keep it moist) to cool completely. It tastes even better the next day after the flavors have settled!

How to bake in the oven:
Bake in an oven at 170C (338F) for 10 minutes. Then turn down to 140C (284F) and bake for 40-45 minutes.
