Exactly a year ago, 2 August 2019, I visited the Jewish Museum in Berlin for the second time. It was a day of crazy weather (heavy rain x shining sun), unlike my first visit which was a gloomy and freezing day in November.
The museum is brilliantly designed by the famous Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind which incorporates layers of Jewish historical significance in Germany (his parents are both Polish Jews and Holocaust survivors).
Before visiting the interior exhibition spaces, I chose to spend some time to feel and capture the exterior zigzag titanium-zinc façade which I missed last time.
During the fortnight when I was in Germany, anti-ELAB protests in Hong Kong occurred every few days. I could really relate the lines and dots of these façades as scars and bruises. So, it was after all a strangely heavyhearted experience to shoot a cold architectural structure under such moments of summer solitude.
