Happy Birthday to everyone! Today is 人日 (rén rì), the 7th day of the lunar calendar. According to Chinese custom, this marks the day human beings were created.
Traditionally, Singaporeans will gather and toss yusheng. This year instead of shouting out the usual auspicious exclamations associated with lohei, some creative Singaporeans have come up with apps to replace that boisterous noise. Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 also has their own online tool called Lohei Butler, with the corresponding greeting for each ingredient.

“Lo Hei” is a festive Singaporean new year tradition that brings people together to wish good luck, good health, happiness, and prosperity ahead by tossing the ingredients together. The higher the ingredients are mixed and lifted, the more prosperity comes ahead.
As you toss up the ingredients, don’t forget to shout out “Huat Ah!” (發啦! Meaning: Get Rich!) 😆🎉

2020年1月25日から旧正月！ということで、シンガポールの大晦日の様子を撮影しました。
多国籍国家ではありますが、人口の70％以上が中華系のため、ここシンガポールでも盛大に祝られます。
とはいっても、中国や台湾などとは違う、独自の行事があり、本動画でご紹介しました。日本人のほとんどが知らないと思うので、面白いですよ。

ローヘイ（またの名はユーシェン）はシンガポール発祥と言われている行事。日本のおせち料理みたいに、それぞれの食材に意味があり、色々なバリエーションがあります。（通常はメイン具材は生魚が使われますが、ぼくたちのは調理済みのアワビでした）
