Synopsis

兩三年前，在寫碩士論文躁鬱期間，有段時間 Selena 每天介紹一首歌。那時
也沒想什麼，就是寫寫自己的感觸。其實我對音樂半點不懂，樂器更是一竅不
通，對樂理的了解大概就跟我對動力學的了解一樣淺薄（也就是完全不懂），
什麼假音轉音都是憑著自己的木耳感受來的，總之放在專業樂評前根本什麼都
不是。
但就是一直寫，記錄自己的愛歌跟聆聽時的瑣碎想法。漸漸也寫出了一種以歌
詞為主的介紹法XD
---------正文開始---------
這首 Lost Stars 很紅，是電影「Begin Again/曼哈頓練習曲」中的插曲，也
入選了甫公佈的第87屆奧斯卡最佳原創歌曲提名。第一次接觸此歌，是男友日
前在高鐵上播給我聽的，說是覺得我一定會很愛；然而那時因為高鐵轟隆作響
，借來的耳機又不合耳道，聽起來不是很清楚，並沒什麼感覺。回家後找來聽
，才深深陷下去。
Keira Knightley 跟 Maroon 5 的主唱 Adam Levine 分別獻唱的兩個版本都
很好，但我偏愛 Adam 版的，原因跟多數人一樣──他在兩次主副歌後接的過
門橋段，那個假音實在太美太難了（大概也讓一票想唱這首歌的男生飆淚了）
！當然，那段假音來的變調所帶出的副歌，也讓人耳目一新。
此歌從開頭 Adam 哼唱的部分就很美，用一種敘述式的平板節奏，慢慢帶出了
主歌最末很有深意的一句：「Best laid plans sometimes are just a one
night stand/ I'd be damned Cupid's demanding back his arrow.」這句並
不是很好翻成中文，如果檢視一些西洋歌翻譯部落格，會發現大家翻出了超過
五種不同的版本。 "Best laid plans" 指的是規畫縝密但最終仍會失敗的計
畫，" I'd be damned" 則是我會完蛋（通常後面會加個 if 敘述完蛋的前提）
；整句最後的意思請自行體會。
副歌原先以為不算很有記憶點，但經過層層舖疊後整個很洗腦，維持著流行歌
曲一貫的「美好傳統」，讓你聽完想忘也忘不掉。最可怕的是，搭配優美到令
人動容的歌詞，以及迷茫的嗓音，真的會陷在深深的憂鬱裡，並在揮之不去的
情緒中，被再次出現的主歌那句「Who are we? Just a speck of dust within
the galaxy?」擊沉；雖然，用的比喻非常老套，但不知怎地就是能觸動心靈。
我非常喜歡副歌的歌詞，雖然開頭是「God, tell us the reason/上帝，為我
們解惑吧」，但其實更像是所有年輕人在時代洪流中找無歸所的自問自答。
「youth is wasted on the young 青春都被年少輕狂揮霍殆盡/ It's hunting
season and the lambs are on the run 在狩獵時節，迷途的羔羊都在奮力奔
逃/ Searching for meaning 追尋著生存的意義/ But are we all lost stars
難道我們都是失落的星星/ trying to light up the dark? 試著點亮漆黑的
天空？」我在家第一次聽到這段時，覺得自己的處境完全被講中；常常覺得無
能為力、常常感到徒勞無功，開始懷疑自己的作為是否只是一場空。
副歌後轉承的「and I thought I saw you out there crying/ and I thought
I heard you call my name/ and I thought I heard you out there crying/
But just the same」這段，我覺得重點只在末句 But just the same，用來強
調一切如初、難以改變的無奈。這段 Adam 唱得非常好，高亢的假音有種濃烈
的情緒，從他前面努力穩住不要太過花俏的主副歌中，忽地炸出了一大片情緒。
尤其在他接續著變調的副歌，又再次接到插曲時，整整一分鐘的聲音表現非常
有層次，假音更透著一種哭不出來的惆悵。
最後來談談整首歌我最喜歡的一部分，主歌第二段的「Yesterday I saw a lion
kiss a deer 昨天我看見一頭獅子親吻小鹿/ Turn the page maybe we'll find
a brand new ending 翻過這頁也許我們將邁向嶄新的結局/ Where we're
dancing in our tears and 我們將在眼淚中一同漫舞」。歌詞回應了前面的幾
個問題，用獅子親吻小鹿，帶出了仍有奇蹟的可能，如同在一片黑暗中透出一絲
光明，讓人對美好未來仍能抱持期盼。
點亮夜空將不再是神話，即便只是失落的星辰，也有自身的價值。
