[寵物小知識]貓咪絕食可致的後果--貓肝臟脂肪代謝障礙: Hepatic Lipidosis
情境題：
「如果一隻胖貓想減肥，主人決定3日不餵食，禁食3日後，最有可能發生以下那個情況？ 」
1) 成功減肥
2) 腎衰竭
3) 脂肪肝
之前問朋友的時候答案最多人揀左2) 腎衰竭，
但其實答案是3)脂肪肝(貓肝臟脂肪代謝障礙: Hepatic Lipidosis)｡
問題中舉的情況當然極端了少少，但其實想帶出幾個要提升Awareness 的地方。
事源是昨天和我家先生閒聊，講我們正在sitting 的kitten開始長胖，要多加注意餵食量和貓咪運動量。他講笑的話「咁你幾日唔好比野佢食，餓牠幾日咪會瘦lor」，我知他專登比個陷阱我踩，於是我答了句「肥而突然完全唔食野，會脂肪肝的」。因為我記起約10年前，他的一隻食用過好的Bearded Dragon突然很久沒有吃東西，本著它有D肥，身體大把脂肪燃燒，餓一陣應該沒問題，很後期才帶它去看醫生，結果發現有脂肪肝。
當知道這件事後，對我的認知頗有衝擊，所以記到今日。-->唔食野唔係會燃燒脂肪咩?@@點解反而會搞到有脂肪肝?@@
他更話最嚴重的情況，如果是中年而過胖的貓，基本上唔食野3日，已經可以出現脂肪肝。
在貓和狗當中，突然絕食對身體的影響貓比狗嚴重很多。經常都會在報紙上看到流浪狗好慘無野食餓很久都無事無死到，只係瘦到得棚骨。
但貓的情況原來和狗很不同，他解釋說因貓天生是純肉食性的動物而狗是雜食性，身體構造很不同。簡單來說，貓需要高蛋白質，肝臟會把蛋白質處理轉化為能量，貓的構造肝功能基本上是不會停止的，但沒有來自食物的蛋白質，肝臟便需要轉化身體的脂肪。但過胖的貓肝臟不能有效率的處理油脂，許多油脂因此被存放在肝細胞，形成脂肪肝，嚴重的情況可在幾日之內構成生命危險，需要住院，放置餵食喉來供給營養。
如果是瘦貓，絕食而引發脂肪肝的機會就低一點，但缺少從食物中攝取的營養，仍然會對健康做成很大問題。
總括來講，要注意的事包括以下幾點：
1)貓咪突然唔食野，最好不要拖多於3日就一定要去看獸醫。
2)"脂肪肝的症狀是： 一隻超重的貓變得厭食(停止進食)，突然體重減輕，也許會過量分泌唾液或嘔吐。 貓變得非常遲鈍，並且常有黃疸徵狀(眼睛、黏膜和皮膚發黃)。"
3)貓對飲食和環境頗敏感，轉糧要循序漸進，太突然或一下子的改變很容易導致厭食。
4)過尤不及，物極必反。唔好以為完全唔食野就會瘦~
5)預防勝於治療，適當的進食量和食物，適量的運動~

"Normally, when a body is undernourished or starved, the body automatically moves fat from its reserves to the liver to be converted into lipoproteins for energy. Cat's bodies are not designed to convert large stores of fat, so when a cat is in starvation mode, the fat that is released to the liver is not processed efficiently, resulting in a fatty and low functioning liver. As the fat accumulates in the liver it becomes swollen and turns yellow. Because it is not able to process red blood cells efficiently, the yellow pigment that makes up a portion of the red blood cell is released into the bloodstream, causing a yellowing of the eyes. If not treated promptly, hepatic lipidosis can lead to various complications and eventually death.
Cats have high nutritional requirements for proteins, as they are strictly meat eaters, so that a lack of protein or inability to process proteins will quickly develop into malnutrition. Profound lack of appetite and stress are also related to hormonal disturbances, which can also affect fat metabolism and cause fat mobilization from other parts of the body to the liver – with the same results described here. This condition also frequently occurs in conjunction with illness, periods of stress, changes in diet, diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, aggressive weight loss attempts by owners, and being lost (away from home and meals).

有人形容它是世界上色彩最豐富的市場.. 有些當地人走一兩天的路才到得了.. 我們那天起了個大早, 山上的霧很大, 做了三哥小時的車才到, 那裡的車經常超賣.. 所以那天車上超擠的.. 但是Bac Ha Market 真的滿特別的.. 最外面算是美食街.. 各類山菜野味(還有蟒蛇) 旁邊有玩音樂和駐唱..(Worse band ever ..LOL) 然後就是一個超大的市場.. 但是孩子們覺得新奇的應該是最上面的live stock market..雞鴨狗豬.... 那些狗應該不是寵物:-( ... 還有水牛拍賣! 當地年輕人會在那一天穿上自己最美的衣服到那裡去交朋友.. 我們吃飯的時候有一個好可愛的小女孩坐在Nathan 旁邊.. 感謝他很有耐心地幫我們做了一番介紹! Some call it the most colorful market in the world. 3 hours of dense fog and over packed bus ride. Bac Ha was really amazing. The market starts with a food market. Even a fresh cleaned python. Live music LOL.. and then a huge market with lots of beautiful colors.. After that is the meat, fresh vegetables, than the fish market with huge live sturgeons. I think the big attraction for the kids was the last part of the market with live stock. Live pigs, ducks, chickens, ducks... and dogs.. and I don't think they were sold as pets.. :-( after that it's the water buffalo auction. There's something you don't see everyday! The little girl sitting next to Nathan gave us a full rundown of the market. She tell us the young people get dressed up in their best clothes and come from miles around to meet people and have fun. And we told her she looked stunning :-)
