When I'm not shooting for weddings and engagements, you'll often find me working on creative editorials! I find it truly rewarding to put more meaning into my work, and to put an idea originally at the back of my head into reality.
I can't stress enough how important it is to keep my passion and my 🔥 going. To have the privilege of directing a shoot from start to finish, from deciding on the mood board, wardrobe, hair and makeup, to choosing locations, posing, photographing, culling and editing, these are what spark joy for me. Work will always be busy but I find it so important to keep my side projects going. That's how I bring a fresh perspective to my work. And I hope I can inspire couples to express what they deeply resonate with, know that the finer details are worth putting time into, and to understand that anything they envision/imagine for their own shoot is possible!
This shoot is part of an ongoing multi-year series I'm directing. It celebrates Chinese traditions with a modern twist. Having started photographing weddings in Vancouver at the beginning of my career, I realised how important it is to the couple’s family that they still incorporate tea ceremony in weddings to honour their family. I personally love this meaningful tradition, and can honestly imagine couple’s family would really appreciate the extra effort put into designing a beautiful tea ceremony. From choosing an embroidered “cheongsam” (such as this one by @cinobicinobi ) to finding a fitting location, there’re so much couples can do to bring surprise and awe to their family!
