An annular solar eclipse occurred on June 21, 2020. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun's, blocking most of the Sun's light and causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring). An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region of the Earth thousands of kilometres wide.

2020.6.21 4:08pm // solar eclipse @ Hong Kong
89% of the Sun’s diameter was obscured by the moon at maximum eclipse at 4:08pm. Thanks to the alternating sun-and-cloud weather which is typical in June, the lighting condition was very varied during the course of the eclipse (it even rained!), in turn making the dynamics more interesting to capture.
HK’s next solar eclipse with larger magnitude will be in 2070... not sure if I’ll be able to witness 😅
(I seldom take pure landscape/astronomical pics, but it’s really once in a lifetime to capture it in hometown, would be memorable to have a little record of it!)

Hong Kong experienced a rare solar eclipse on the summer solstice. The moon obscured 89 percent of the sun's diameter. It's known as an annular eclipse - when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun.
Our dog Merlin watched it with us from the rooftop of a skyscraper. He was a little nervous - and rather confused...
There was a strange light over Victoria Harbour and the city's iconic landmark, Lion Rock.
The maximum eclipse took place at 16:08 local

· Glue
【Procedure】
① Glue the rolled styrofoams with woodworking bonds, wrap them with cloth, then glue the brackets to the back with a metal adhesive.(Diameter of styrofoam: 4 cm, 3 cm, 2 cm)
② Make 15 pieces of petal cloth folded with tweezers.
③ Attach a petal with a bond.
④ Cut the extra part of the flower core and bond 5 pieces to the center of the flower with glue.
⑤ Apply a glue to the tip of the petal and sharpen the tip of the petal with a finger.
⑥ Make 7 pieces of cloth for leaf folded with tweezers.

A mooncake (simplified Chinese: 月饼; traditional Chinese: 月餅; pinyin: yuè bĭng; Jyutping: jyut6 beng2; Yale: yuht béng) is a Chinese bakery product traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節). The festival is for lunar appreciation and moon watching, when mooncakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese festivals.
Typical mooncakes are round pastries, measuring about 10 cm in diameter and 3–4 cm thick. This is the Cantonese mooncake, eaten in Southern China in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. A rich thick filling usually made from red bean or lotus seed paste is surrounded by a thin (2–3 mm) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Mooncakes are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by tea. Today, it is customary for businessmen and families to present them to their clients or relatives as presents, helping to fuel a demand for high-end mooncakes. A considerable amount of waste is also produced. According to the Wall Street Journal's China edition, as many as two million mooncakes are thrown away each year in Hong Kong alone, not to mention the often voluminous packaging.
Due to China's influence, mooncakes and Mid-Autumn Festival are also enjoyed and celebrated in other parts of Asia. Mooncakes have also appeared in western countries as a form of delicacy
