Unlike his sisters, the 2yo little brother is not so fond of thrills and rides, does not like to try out new things and is frightened by loud noises or the dark.

It takes lots of persuasion, assurance and even bribes to get him to be willing to try. While he loves train rides and carousels, anything that is a tad more exciting tends to freak him out. It is a very new experience for me because the girls have always jumped at the chance to go on any kind of theme park ride and are the kind who dig first row seats on roller coasters.

This was the first time he sat on Beetle Bounce at @legolandmalaysia and it took me long to convince him that sitting on Mama's lap was not allowed and he had to be brave to sit on his own beside me. He started to bawl when the bar came down and a part of me thought maybe this was all wrong and we should just let him come down and skip the ride. Yet, another part of me told me to just go ahead because nothing ventured, nothing gained and he needs to at least try before he realises whether he can do it or not.

See how tightly he was holding onto my hand with his teary eyes? It was really sweet for a moment and I deeply cherished how much he needs me at this toddler phase.

The thing is, once we started bouncing, he was all smiles, couldn't stop laughing and to his own surprise, he quite enjoyed this first experience after all. It was a relief and a proud moment for me because hey, this boy did it after all and maybe he just needs lots of assurance and tender loving care to help overcome his fears.

Yup, one day, I will ride the most thrilling roller coaster with all three kids. For now, I shall enjoy this needy phase, hold his hand lovingly, offer more hugs and kisses, and carry him more while I still can. Glad you did it, my boy!
