The Labour Movement is vital to our unique system of tripartism. Our union leaders work in close partnership with the Government and employers to help workers, businesses and Singapore thrive and excel.
We are fortunate to have had good union leaders who champion the interests of workers and, at the same time, understand the national interest. Looking ahead, we need such union leaders, and unions, more than ever.
I attended the NTUC National Delegates' Conference dinner yesterday. As part of NTUC’s leadership renewal, the Delegates Conference will be electing a new Central Committee. I thank all outgoing union leaders for your dedication, support and friendship. I hope the newly-elected team will continue to lead the Labour Movement wisely, uphold our model of tripartism and help us progress as one united people.
