於各種慶典不時會有放飛氣球的活動，這些氣球放飛後成為塑膠垃圾，造成大量污染，嚴重危害生態環境，特別是海洋生物及雀鳥，牠們會誤食或被纏繞至死。美國多個州分已立法管制或禁止放飛氣球。

Balloons are released from time to time at different celebrations and events. These balloons will turn into plastic waste and most of them end up on the ocean, polluting the environment. Wildlife especially marine animals and birds would mistake these marine debris as food or entangle to death. Some States in the US already set up legislation to control or ban releasing balloons.

感謝 綠惜地球 The Green Earth 前天邀請，初次於香港體驗潛水，見識香港的海底世界，以及見識一下海廢的「力量」。由於自己沒有潛水牌，因此海廢都靠 Blue Ocean Club 和綠惜地球的義工們幫忙撈上來，當中包括不少「鬼網」，即被棄置的漁網，不少海洋生物如小魚、蟹🦀、蝦🦐等都被困其中。兩害取其輕，縱使過程中發現沒能救回一些被困的小動物，但移除鬼網讓它不再為禍海洋，以免它再困住殺死其他海洋生物，始終是件好事。

而更重要的是，他們像行山執垃圾般，也有統計數據，將數據統計後化成有用的資料，去推動大眾關注甚至政苦採取措施，否則永遠都執不完這些垃圾呢 🥲 而且分類比行山的垃圾分得還要仔細。單單是早上大家潛一轉的「收獲」中，就有不少膠樽碎片、塑膠魚標、鋁罐、玻璃碎片等等，遠在不近岸的海底裡都有這麼多人類的垃圾😪 收集到的海洋垃圾數據將會輸入 Project Aware 網上資料數據庫。想了解多些 Blue Ocean Club 在香港推廣 Dive Against Debris™️ 打擊海洋垃圾潛水計劃™️可瀏灠以下網址：http://bit.ly/diveagainstdebris

不論是漁民、遊船河人士、還是誰丟的，解決方法跟在山上的都一樣： #源頭減廢！ 假如我們日常生活中不減少製造廢物，尤其是難以分解的塑膠，不論在哪裡我們都會發現垃圾無處不在。可以重用的就重用到不能再用為止，繼而回收，都不能回收的廢物才棄掉。

除了垃圾，藉住今次機會見識到香港海底的美貌！今次 #DSD #體驗水肺潛水 是在近岸處，只深約二至三米，由於沒有潛水牌因此我和導師都不能帶相機，但美麗的景像都影進我的腦海裏去了 💚 見到比我手掌還要長的海馬，大家都說我很幸運，因為絕不常見！另外還見到很多魚🐠，小丑魚、有些好像半透明的、一群群細小的、害羞地快快躲進沙洞裏的...還有手臂般長的海參、奶嘴般的珊瑚、還有紫色、綠色的珊瑚等等，真的好美！！！

導師特別有提醒大家不准使用化學清潔劑，提供海洋友善的物理防曬（雖然我都沒塗），以及潛的時候要留意自己或身上的器材有否影響海底生態，例如潛水儀錶或後備的呼吸器要扣好在身上，以免不小心在海床拖行破壞生態，或掉了任何個人物品變成海廢等等。就如我平日行山會順道執垃圾般，blue ocean club 每月也有至少一次潛水是順道執垃圾和清鬼網的，大家都身體力行幫忙愛護環境，讚喔！💚 有潛水牌的朋友可以留意他們的活動嘗試幫忙。 #一人一袋和你執

提醒返，水底「鬼網」除咗纏住海洋動物，仲會纏住船漿或潛水嘅朋友。清理佢，係需要好有經驗嘅潛水員、帶備工具合力完成，普通潛水嘅朋友見到鬼網係要避開，唔好嘗試清理呀。

Azmi and I recently took part in the Downbelow x Rip Curl Marine Conservation Program 2017: a joint event between Downbelow Marine & Wildlife Adventures and Rip Curl Malaysia with the objective to raise awareness, educate, and encourage action towards the global problem of marine debris and the importance of preserving our coral reefs.


This event was fully sponsored by the Downbelow & Rip Curl partnership and was held on the 19th of November, 2017 at Downbelow PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Sabah Borneo. We were amongst the 100 participants who took part in this marine conservation activity on-site and BOY! Did we have fun!

Anybody can be an ocean hero irrespective of whether you are a scuba diver, snorkeler or non-swimmer, all you need to take part is a desire to make a difference. Marine conservation activities are fun and a heroes way of life is rewarding !

ALL proceeds went to AWARE Project as well as the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Kota Kinabalu (SPCAKK). I LOVE my furry animals, so this struck a chord with me and I will be working closer with SPCAKK to encourage more folks to choose to adopt than to buy a new pet from the store.
