Me partially looking like am somewhere else coz I had 3 hours of sleep the night before and am a bit full from eating nasi lemak with tons of lada putih and tuhau 🤣

Tried the Matcha Earl Grey RM15 nice and thick, fragrant 👍🏻 nice. Mocha RM14 bitter coffee but 🤔 not quite on chocolate taste. Takeaway Houjicha Latte RM16 a tad on the sweeter side but smells nice. Tried the cinnamon whirl RM4 too sweet for my liking 😅 and the croissant 🥐 with butter RM8 comes with kaya that I think also too sweet 😂. Wanted the Portuguese custard egg tarts but they didn't have em this week 😢

The croissant is not bad, soft and buttery. Next time try other food on the menu, today am too full and sleepy.

Easy to follow and minimal hands on work, with pre-made tart shells, you can now prepare your very own Portuguese egg tarts in just a few simple steps!
Generally larger than the Cantonese-style egg tarts served in dim sum restaurants, what differentiates the Portuguese egg tart is its signature bright yellow base with blisters of charred finish, resembling that of a creme brulee. Many think that those black spots are the result of caramelized sugar, but rather, they form when the layer of film from the milk is heated.
Calling for just a handful of ingredients, combine milk, thickened cream, vanilla beans, cinnamon, egg yolks and sugar into a saucepan and stir the mixture until it thickens. Make sure you strain your mixture for it creates that creamy and tender texture to the filling. Bake till the tart shells turn crispy golden brown and those iconic dark black bubbles start to form.
Recreate this fuss-free custardy treat in under an hour! Still need to cut down the cooking time? Great news! You can store your custard filling in the refrigerator up to 3 days in advance! I love some egg tarts. For some reason, they just get me but I don't go for just any egg tarts. I prefer those with butter pastry base compared to the puff pastry type. I also prefer the classic egg tarts better than Portuguese egg tarts. In short, the recipe here is just the kind of egg tart that I love :)

Ingredients
Makes 12 - 14 egg tarts
Bake at 180C for 25 mins
Butter pastry:
140g soften butter
1/2 egg
60g icing sugar
200g all-purpose flour
Egg filling:
100g sugar
150ml water
4 eggs
250ml fresh milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
