Someone sent this to me. I agree. We cant keep using lockdowns to handle this situation. Poverty is on the rise.💙😌
-“ A CMCO on KL and Selangor is overkill. What happened to targeted lockdowns? We cannot be lurching from one lockdown to the next, especially for Klang Valley. Do mass testing with antigen RTK to quickly identify and isolate positive cases. (https://codeblue.galencentre.org/2020/10/12/klang-valley-lockdown-no-dine-ins-jogging-work-letter-needed-to-cross-kl-selangor-putrajaya/)
What is the justification for such a strict lockdown on the entire capital city and Selangor? Are we going to see police roadblocks throughout KL and Selangor like during MCO 1? The government must reverse this decision. It is a wholly disproportionate public health response.
With just 34 local Covid cases reported in KL within past 14 days as of yesterday, the govt shuts down the entire capital city? Putrajaya only has 13 cases. Selangor has 224 cases, but only two are red zones (Petaling - 53 cases, Klang - 82 cases).
A Klang Valley CMCO is completely irrational.
And news flash, economic sector can't continue if you prevent people from going out. And obviously we'll see Covid cases reported every day because we can never eradicate the virus until we get a vaccine. After lockdown is lifted, then Covid cases will go up again. Then what?
The MCO was supposed to buy us time to prepare the health care system for future outbreaks, NOT to eradicate the virus. What did we do for the past six months since MCO in March? Are you saying we didn't prepare enough?
WHO has warned against using lockdowns as a primary means of controlling the virus, stating it could have a dramatic impact on poverty. What exactly do you hope to achieve with a Klang Valley lockdown? Slow the virus transmission to prepare some more? Aren't we already prepared?
The government has repeatedly said, as recently as less than a week ago, that our health care system is prepared for Covid outbreaks. So what on earth is the justification for a Klang Valley CMCO that generally prohibits people from leaving home except for work/ buy necessities?
PM said May 1 that it’s impossible for any country to hit zero Covid cases. Ismail Sabri repeated this point on Oct 3. What I want to know is — what exactly is a tolerable number of daily Covid cases in a district for the govt? 20? 50? 100? Or nationwide — 200? 500? 1,000?
MOH claims that they advised a Klang Valley CMCO to prevent yellow zones from turning red, as various districts are recording new cases every day. Well, of course we'll see Covid infections daily; that's the nature of the disease. The old govt narrative (which it has since discarded) during the early days of the RMCO of less than 50 daily cases, or even ZERO cases a day, made absolutely no sense.
With increased testing, we’ll naturally pick up more cases. The more you test, the more you get. Important thing is to expand testing so that we detect and isolate infectious people quickly. So it doesn’t matter even if we record hundreds of cases, as long as we isolate quickly.
Now police are saying they'll mount roadblocks in the same way like the first MCO in March. So is this CMCO or MCO 1? Expect huge traffic jams in Klang Valley if the cops are gonna check each car for an employment letter to get to work. And if authorities are going to treat Klang Valley CMCO like MCO 1, expect to see the repeated hurdles to seeking medical treatment that cancer patients previously suffered, not to mention postponed appointments for regular medications from clinics for those with chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. (https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2020/10/12/cmco-police-to-mount-roadblocks-again-in-kl-selangor-putrajaya/1912050)
I'm sorry to say, but Malaysia's Covid public health policies since the Sabah election were an absolute shambles. No restriction of peninsula-Sabah travel during the election, either for politicians/ campaigners/ voters (the EC could have allowed outstation voters to vote in peninsular stations; they didn't). No enforcement of SOPs on any campaign rally during the election. No mandatory 14-day quarantine upon return from Sabah. No significant expansion of testing -- either RT-PCR or rapid antigen tests.
And before the election, no prosecution of lawmakers who clearly (and even admitted themselves) broke SOPs, including mandatory quarantine. I don't think enforcers even checked government premises to see if they follow the SOPs that they enforce on private citizens and businesses, like MySejahtera check-ins, provision of hand sanitizers, or wearing face masks. Visit government offices in Putrajaya and see how many actually comply with SOPs. Parliament doesn't mandate MySejahtera and hardly provides any hand sanitizer throughout the entire building.
The government also ignored repeated warnings from medical professionals and civil society about prison and detention centre outbreaks. Worse, enforcers even dragged people to police stations and made them wait in crowded and congested areas just to receive their saman. The Sabah surge came from cases first reported on Sept 1 in the Lahad Datu police lock-up and Tawau prison.
And now suddenly, wham, a two-week lockdown on the entire Klang Valley, even though the country's main Covid hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital, is located in Selangor, not to mention the many other tertiary hospitals in the Klang Valley. Of all places, Klang Valley has the best public health care system. How can Klang Valley not be prepared for a Covid outbreak?
People may be allowed to go to work during the CMCO, but what about small businesses and roadside stalls? Only privileged white collar workers can afford to work from home. And only lawmakers and civil servants can go through any lockdown without worrying about next month's salary.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the bushfires in Australia 🇦🇺❤️
Australia Res Cross
https://fundraise.redcross.org.au/drr
❤️ Adopt น้อง Koala

Congratulations to this round of RKW Pediatric First Aid & CPR Training workshop participants w Vivian Tan!
Thank you for investing your Saturday w us in learning life-saving techniques to provide immediate emergency care.
The #1 comment I always hear from participants after they take the workshop is how wildly different their expectations of what CPR was in their head compared to the real-life hands-on practical training that they receive.
You really can't quite describe nor measure the depth and strength of compressions until you've practiced it or how to accurately perform the Heimlich on children and adults.
The #2 comment I always get?
How much more confident they feel after attending the course in being able to provide immediate emergency care!
I started facilitating this class on accident because I couldn't find a comprehensive hands-on up-to-date American Red Cross certified training for my helper when she started w us. Thanks to Jenlia Maternal Services, I learned of Vivian and remembered how much knowledge my husband and I gained when we went through the course w Vivian ourselves.
I started w just one class for Ella Grace's favorite kakak and partner-in-crime to be equipped and confident in a medical emergency but after hearing the stories from participants of how much this training has helped them and how much it has helped us, I decided to continue offering it because if there's only one workshop that you ever take in your life, parent or not, this is it.
Xx
ETA: The workshop is offered by need and interest, like and subscribe to "all notifications" so you can catch the next one! ❤️

If you don't wan't to spend too much time on baking, this recipe idea is perfect 💕 EASY ❣️
You can make them bigger or smaller. The size of your heart is up to you 😝
---------------------------------
Heart-Shaped Mini Melonpan
Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 60min
Number of servings: 24 mini (5cm/2inch) Melonpan
Ingredients:
4~6 hot dog buns (or any kind of fluffy bun)
4 tbsp. (50g) butter (softened)
3~4 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 egg
Wilton Icing Gel Color red
vanilla extract
1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
1/3 tsp. baking powder
granulated sugar for coating
Directions:
1. Cut out the hot dog buns using a heart-shaped cookie cutter. Bottom half of the buns work perfect.
2. Beat butter and sugar until creamy, add egg little by little and mix well. Add Wilton Icing Gel Color red to make it pink. If you want, you can add a few drops of vanilla extract.
3. Sift in flour and baking powder and mix well.
4. Spoon the cookie dough onto the bun, wrap with plastic wrap to coat the bun with the cookie topping.
5. Roll in the granulated sugar and place it on a parchment paper about an inch apart. With a scraper or a knife, score the cookie dough in a criss-cross pattern.
6. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Meanwhile place the Melonpan in the fridge to set. (Up to 30 minutes is ok)
7. Bake at 350F (180C) for 10 minutes. (Depending on the heat of the oven, cooking time may differ, so please watch out.)

10 Things You Didn’t Know About FUKUSHIMA NUCLEAR DISASTER: https://youtu.be/HpOG4WFKBZQ
-----------------------
10 THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE 2011 JAPANESE TSUNAMI & TOHOKU EARTHQUAKE
(March 11th)
The most powerful earthquake ever recorded to have hit Japan. A 9.0 magnitude. This of course triggered a massive tsunami that wrecked the north eastern coastline.
Japan was simply not as prepared as they thought they were for such a disaster. If that wasn’t bad enough, there was a Level 7 nuclear emergency at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant comparable to Chernobyl.
1) Every 800 to 1100 Years
From analysing the Holocene sequence in the Sendai area, it’s known that sometime between 1000 BC and 500 BC, a massive tsunami-generating earthquake hit the area.
Then in 1 AD, it hit again.
Over 800 years later, The Sanriku Earthquake and Tsunami of 869, devastated the same area in and around Sendai.
That’s 3 events of similar type and magnitude in the same region all in the last 3000 years. This indicates a recurrence interval of 800 to 1100 years. We were due another one...
2) Antarctic Ice
Seismic waves increased the flow of the Whillans Ice Stream in Antarctica, which is essentially a moving ice river. Sea waves, having traveled 13,000 km broke icebergs the size of Manhattan off the Sulzberger Ice Shelf.
3) Planetary Changes
The Earth’s axis shifted by 10 to 25 cm, which changed the tilt of the planet and the length of a day-. That’s right; the redistribution of Earth’s mass shortened our day by almost two microseconds.
4) Costliest Natural Disaster
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, $15 billion
The 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, $20.7 billion
Hurricane Katrina in 2005, $45 billion
The 2008 Sichuan Earthquake in China, $148 billion
The 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan? Over $300 billion
5) Gaman
In Japan, immediately following the earthquake, there was a notable lack of disorder.
People remained calm despite having every right to freak out. They formed orderly lines outside supermarkets even though they were desperate for food. This act of civility is due to what the Japanese call, Gaman.
Gaman means to do one’s best in times of distress, to maintain self control and discipline. There is a national desire to see civility prevail, no matter the circumstances, even when one catastrophe piles onto another.
6) Yakuza Crime Syndicate
Members of the Yakuza, Japan’s organised crime syndicate, helped enforce order on the streets.
7) North Korean Assist
North Korea donated a $100,000 US to the Japanese Red Cross Society, and the late former leader Kim Jong-Il himself sent half a million dollars to Korean residents in Japan caught up in the disaster.
8) Celebrity Aid
All around the world, many celebrities privately donated to the relief effort, including Hikaru Utada, Gackt, AKB48, Girls’ Generation, Jackie Chan, Clint Eastwood, Sandra Bullock, Gwen Stefani, Shakira, Black Eyed Peas, My Chemical Romance, and Lady Gaga.
9) Ghost Passengers
Police have received hundreds of reports from people who have apparently seen ghosts in tsunami-devastated towns. Taxi drivers in particular have reported picking up ghost passengers.
10) Vindicated Mayor
Wamura became the mayor of Fudai, and in 1972, he started construction on a 15.5 meter floodgate. The total cost was 3.56 billion yen. Many residents as well as the village council felt a floodgate of that size was unnecessary. It was reckless spending from a foolish mayor.
The Tohoku tsunami destroying towns along the north eastern coast. Fudai, however, was spared. Wamura’s floodgate had prevented much of the water from coming in. He had saved the town that had doubted him.
Today, Kotaku Wamura is remembered as a hero, the saviour of Fudai.
