冬瓜薏米湯清熱祛濕
夏天常飲冬瓜湯,因為冬瓜有清熱解毒、利水消腫的功效,但煲湯最少都要一小時,如沒有時間的話,其實滾湯亦有相同功效!滾湯時間比較短,所以材料最好切成大小相若的顆粒,容易煮熟及出味。生薏米能清熱健脾祛濕,而熟薏米有健脾作用,薏米屬於粗糧,故這款滾湯宜連湯渣食用,配一碗白飯就成為開胃的湯飯。現在正值夏轉秋之際,是在處暑前後煲的最後一次冬瓜湯了。
冬瓜雪耳薏米湯
功效:清熱祛濕、利水消腫,紓緩暑熱、無胃口、身體感覺睏倦、肥胖等症狀。
材料:冬瓜600克、雪耳一朵、生薏米30克、熟薏米30克、乾瑤柱3-4枚、薑2片
做法:
1. 全部材料洗淨,雪耳以清水浸軟,去蒂洗淨切塊備用。乾瑤柱浸水至軟身瀝乾,瑤柱水備用;冬瓜連皮去籽切粒。
2. 在深鍋裡加入約2000毫升水,加入所有材料,武火煮至水滾,改用文火煮約30分鐘直至冬瓜軟腍,最後下鹽調味即可。

Winter gourd and coix seed soup can clear heat and dispel dampness
We enjoy drinking the winter gourd soup during summer as it can clear the heat and toxins from the body and relieve edema. Regular boiled soup takes an hour, and some people just do not have the patience for it. If you don’t have time, you can make boiled soup instead. The boiling time is relatively short, we need to dice the ingredient to make sure the winter gourd cooks faster and tastes better.
On the other hand, coix seed can clear the heat, strengthen the spleen, and dispel dampness from the body. Since coix seed is a type of coarse grain, we can eat it while enjoying the soup. Adding a bowl of rice to the meal can also stimulate our appetite. Let’s make ourselves a pot of winter gourd soup before we enter the fall season!
Winter gourd and snow fungus soup with coix seed
Effects: clears heat, dispels dampness, promotes diuresis and reduces bloating. It can relieve summer heat, poor appetite, fatigue and obesity.
Ingredients: 600g winter gourd, 1 ear of snow fungus, 30g coix seed, 30g cooked coix seed, 3-4 dried scallop, 2 slices of ginger
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Soak snow fungus in water until softened, then cut off black bits from the bottom and slice into pieces. Soak dried scallop in water until softened then drain. Save the soaked water. Seed winter gourd, keep the skin and dice it.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2000ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 30 minutes until the winter gourd softened. Add salt to taste.

Food tracking is a habit I picked up about 5 years ago when I started training with @movementdynamicsfit but I’ve only started taking it seriously this lockdown as I’ve just been home.
I even go to the extent of weighing all the food and drinks I consume.
I’m thankful for my parents who are so supportive of my fitness journey and do not mind my crazy behaviour!
I use this app called “MyFitnessPal” to track the macros of the food I consume daily.
It gives me info on the % of protein, fat and carbs which makes me more conscious of the food I put into my body. At the beginning, food tracking was a nightmare. I HATED THE PROCESS SO MUCH because it was tedious and it can be quite tricky to track if you’re out dining and sharing food with friends.
However, this process got so much easier since I’ve been stuck at home! So slowly food tracking has become a big part of my life now. I track every single thing that I eat and drink! It’s become an obsession haha
The fun part is, along the way, I actually learned so much about nutrition.
e.g.
100g chicken breast= 3.6g fat & 31g protein
Whereas 100g chicken thighs= 8g fat & 24g protein
This is why I have switched to eating chicken breast instead of thighs/drumsticks as the fat percentage is relatively low.
My current fitness goal is to gain muscle mass & lose fat. I do not starve myself, I eat whenever I feel hungry, but I try to opt for healthier options. So I’ve drastically reduced fried/oily and sugary food.
Of course, balance is key. There are days where I eat desserts as well but I only take a small portion because when I discovered 50g of a tiny slice of yam cake I took the other day carried 200 kcal, I got shocked 😮
So anyways, the top 3 REASONS why my trainer asked me to track my diet are;
1) When I report to my trainer, there is more accountability and thus more discipline
- Having someone to be accountable to increases consistency and ultimately leads to better results
2) I learn more about the food I consume and my eating habits when I put in the effort to track myself
3) When I send my report to my trainer, he is able to learn more about my lifestyle and eating habits which allows him to optimise my programme

在兩個月內,臺灣成功將每天的病例數字從高峰期的每日476例降到每日不足15例。部分功勞必須歸功於臺灣人民的守法和互相尊重。很難想像可以有更好的方法讓台灣擺脫目前的狀況,但我人在台灣真的讓我覺得很安全。😌

After three precious weeks spent visiting my family, here starts my quarantine back in Taipei. 🔒
While life is getting back to normal in Europe, with I need to mention an unfortunately sharp increase of the delta variant cases, regulations here in Taiwan are much more strict.
With a relatively low number of cases compare to other countries, the government request to do our quarantine in a hotel, in separate room.
I’m going to be honest, I don’t understand this last point. Des and I live together, we spent three weeks next to each other, took our flight together, took the same taxi, kissed each other to say goodbye but we can’t quarantine in the same room. But rules are the rules and if this really can make the situation safer for all of us then there is not much to say.
In two months time Taiwan successfully decreased the daily cases from 476 at it peak to less than 15. A part of the credit must go to the obedience and respect from Taiwanese. It’s difficult to see a way out of this situation, but I definitely feel safer here. Now, booking a quarantine hotel was a very stressful experience as most of them were fully booked and other were either looking uncomfortable or overpriced. (We had the bad experience to finally book one through the quarantine hotels website and then receive a call from them saying they don’t accept quarantine!!).
Then thanks to a friend, we finally find two rooms in CHECKINN hotel. I’m very happy we got to book with them as the communication and booking was very fast, easy, the rooms are super clean, the bed is super confortable and they are very caring. We also learnt that some hotels don’t accept delivery from Uber eats which was unimaginable for us ahah!😅
So if you are travelling right now or planning a trip, I highly recommend to book your hotel right now!

有在運動或看運動賽事的人,應該對於十字韌帶斷裂這樣的運動傷害不陌生。雖然現今的醫療可以將斷掉的十字韌帶做重建,但並不是每一位運動員都能在手術後順利重返運動賽事,或是恢復到和過去一樣的運動表現。根據統計,如果不計運動賽事等級的話,在十字韌帶重建後能回到運動場上的比例大約落在56%-100% (不同研究有不同結果)。但如果要恢復到受傷前的運動表現的話,則只有13%-69%的人有機會能做到。即使回去運動後,也有20%-25%的機會再一次受傷。在面對韌帶重建的個案時,我們是否有甚麼方法可以評估個案是否具備回到運動場上的能力,或是個案達到甚麼標準之後,未來受傷機率可以比較低呢?這次的影片將跟大家分享四個用來評估十字韌帶重建後,何時可以重返運動場上的測試動作。
People who like to play sports or watch sport events might be familiar with ACL rupture. Although we can reconstruct the ruptured ACL with modern medical technology, not every athlete can return to sports after the reconstruction, not to say regain his previous performance level. It has been indicated that the rate of return to sport at any level ranged from 56%-100% (Different research has different result.). However, only 13%-69% athletes can regain their pre-injury level of performance. After back to sport, up to 20%-25% athletes will experience contralateral tear or re-rupture. When faced with those ACL reconstruction clients, do we have any method to evaluate whether client is ready to return to sport? Is there any standard client can achieve, which indicate the risk of injury could be relatively low? Today’s video will show you 4 single-leg hop tests commonly used to assess functional performance and predict when to return to sport for ACL reconstruction clients.

I recently decided to take a 3-5 month trip to Taiwan and because I wanted to stick with my commitment to sustainable fashion, I decided to pack a capsule wardrobe.
This 33-piece wardrobe includes daily wear, clothing for special occasions, outerwear, shoes, workout clothing, and pajamas. I really tried to pack as many versatile pieces as I could while still keeping the weather in mind. Winter in Taiwan ranges with a high of 75°F (24°C) and a low of 55°F (13°C).
