我們於二零一九年的聖誕節終於出發去了說了很久都未成行的緬甸之旅。由於當地的交通挺不方便的，所以我們便在出發前在網上預約了一個當地的司機Thu Ra，由他的口述經歴及那幾天我們的相處，我們感受到當地人樂天知命的個性，亦感受到佛教導人向善，令大部分的緬甸國民都是如此的善良好客。

緬甸是有名虔誠的佛教國家，據Thu Ra的說法，佛教信徒約佔人口的80%或以上，他們的生活都跟其信仰有着密不可分的關係。其中一個佛教的教條是要求信徒不能說謊，所以跟當地人的對話，你都能感受到他們的殷實誠懇。

當地人熱心助人，我還記得有一天我們在路經一小村莊時，車子出現了點小問題，Thu Ra把車停泊在路邊，在小村莊裏有一個目測約十多歲的小男孩正在建Bamboo house(當地人若家境不富裕，多數住在Bamboo house)，Thu Ra跟他用當地語言說了幾句話，然後Thu Ra跟我們說小男孩會用電車單載他至附近的店舖買些修理車子的東西，叫我們待在車子上等他。我們在車子上等了一會，看見小男孩回來了繼續他的工作，但Thu Ra沒有坐電單車一起回來，我們唯有繼續等；約半小時後，Thu Ra帶着他要買的東西坐了另一個私家車回來，我們好奇問他為甚麼沒有坐小男孩的車回來，他告訴我們，因為附近的店沒有他想要的東西，所以便叫小男孩先離開，他在路邊截順風車去別的村莊買，買畢後再截順風車回來；我們問他要給載他的人車費嗎，Thu Ra說緬甸人都喜愛助人，不討回報。

In 2019, we finally decided to take our long overdue trip to Myanmar. As there are too many places to visit within a limited timeframe and the transportation is notably not well developed, we decided to hire a local driver online. Her name is Thu Ra from whom we learned the culture and Buddhism of Myanmar making this trip a very warmed and welcomed one.

Myanmar is a Buddhism country. According to Thu Ra, around 80% of population believes in Buddhism binding the everyday life of normal citizen. One of the rules of Buddhism is not to lie and, maybe that’s why people here are extraordinarily honest.

Local people are willing to help others. I recalled that our car has some problems during a transit. Thu Ra parked the car beside the road and talked to a teenage who was carrying a bamboo on a bike (Many locals lives in Bamboo house as people is not rich here.). Thu Ra asked him to buy tool in the nearby town and he left with the teen after asking us to stay inside the car. After 30 minutes, Thu Ra came back by another car and told us that since they need to go to a shop further away. So, he took a free ride and came back earlier. And, the teen finally came back 30 minutes later.

Thu Ra told us that the local is willing to help even without any reward. Trusting people and helping people is a part of the culture that is so rare for us.
