นี่ก็แชร์กันมาหลายปีแล้ว ถึงสูตรในการเอา "มังคุด" มานึ่งนานๆ บอกว่าจะทำให้สารที่อยู่ในเปลือกมังคุดนั้น ซึมเข้าไปในเนื้อมังคุดได้ กินแค่วันละผล จะป้องกันโรคได้สารพัด รวมถึงต่อต้านมะเร็งได้ด้วย ... ไม่จริงนะ แถมถ้ากินมากๆ ระวังจะมีอันตรายตามมาด้วย
แม้จะมีงานวิจัยว่า สารที่ชื่อว่า แซนโทน ที่อยู่ในเปลือกมังคุดนั้น จะสามารถช่วยต้านอนุมูลอิสระ ต่อต้านการอักเสบ ต่อต้านมะเร็ง และอื่นๆ ได้ แต่สารแซนโทนนี้ เป็นสารที่ไม่ละลายน้ำ ดังนั้นการนึ่งมังคุด แม้ว่าจะทำให้เนื้อมังคุดกลายเป็นสีแดง แต่ก็ไม่ได้จะทำให้สารแซนโทนละลายออกมาอยู่ในเนื้อมังคุด
นอกจากนี้ การสกัดสารแซนโทนจากเปลือกมังคุด ยังต้องใช้วิธีการผลิตโดยเฉพาะ และปัจจุบันนี้ ก็ยังไม่มีผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ผลิตจากเปลือกมังคุด ได้รับขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นยาสำหรับมะเร็งแต่อย่างไร
ในทางตรงกันข้าม เปลือกมังคุดมีสารกลุ่มแทนนินอยู่ การนำมังคุดไปนึ่งอาจทำให้สารแทนนินซึ่งละลายน้ำได้ ซึมเข้าสู่เนื้อมังคุด เมื่อรับประทานเข้าไปมากๆ อาจทำให้เกิดอาการท้องผูก และสะสมในตับและไตได้
การรับประทานมังคุดให้ได้ประโยชน์ จึงควรรับประทานผลสดมากกว่าการนำไปนึ่ง และควรกินไม่เกินวันละ 4-5 ผล เพื่อไม่ให้ร่างกายได้รับน้ำตาลมากเกินไปครับ
