“You shall observe to do all the commandments which I command you today, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers. For Yahweh your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs, and underground water flowing into valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey; a land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper. You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you. Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today; lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses, and lived in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with venomous snakes and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who poured water for you out of the rock of flint; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end: and lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.” But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.” (Deuteronomy 8:1-18 WEB)

The Lord gave me a word “scorpions” which led me to this passage.

I sense that a lot of us here have been through a long wilderness journey where we have been asking God “How long more,” and we are already close to entering our promised land.

As we are about to enjoy His marvelous restoration and multiplication of provision in our lives, in whatever way He has been leading you, REMEMBER HIM when you go into the land flowing with milk and honey.

Don’t forget all the precious lessons about humility and faith that you learned while in the dry wilderness.

Money can be destructive because the sinful flesh is tempted to make money its idol.

Keep your eyes on Jesus…

There is a reason why things take time. The preparation phase is needed so that you would be able to handle the sudden multiplication.

Despite all the tough times, God has always been faithful to you, and you are still alive. Give thanks to Him!

Under the New Covenant of Grace, to keep God’s commandments means to believe in Jesus Christ and to love one another as Christ has loved us. Will you allow yourself to continue being led by the Spirit to walk in love, even after you have prospered?

I say again, REMEMBER HIM. Okay, now go and possess your promised land. The Lord shall go before you, and you will approach it one step at a time with each passing day!

Jesus said a lot of things in the four gospels, but we must discern why He said certain things, in the light of the cross.

One of the things He did was to preach the full measure of the Old Covenant of the Law so that the hearers clearly knew that they stood no chance of being justified through works of the Law.

If you want to be saved through the Law, you have to be perfect just as God the Father is perfect.

You must love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

You cannot have a single lustful or murderous thought.

If your body parts (eyes, hands, feet) cause you to sin, you must cut them off to keep yourself from stumbling.

Can anyone do all that?

God knew that we cannot, and that is precisely why He sent Jesus to die as our atoning sacrifice for sin. This was the only way we could be saved from eternal destruction and separation from God.

When you don’t understand why Jesus said certain things, you will make the mistake of trying to do what He said, not knowing that He wants you to give up on your self efforts.

There is great freedom in rightly dividing the Word, according to the covenants. 「とりあえず」は様々な状況で使われるとても便利な日本語表現です。レストランで注文する時の「とりあえずビールで」、友達と決めごとをしている時の「とりあえずそうしよう」、またビジネスの場で一時的な処置を施す場面でもよく使われるフレーズかと思います。今日は状況に応じた「とりあえず」の英語表現をご紹介したいと思います。

レストランで「とりあえずビールで」と言う場合は「I'll take a beer for now.」が最もナチュラルでしょう。ここで使われるFor now は「まずは」を意味し、ビールを注文した後に食べ物など別のを注文する意思を表すことになります。
　
✔「I'll take a _____ for now.（とりあえず◯◯をください）」を省略して「Just _____ for now」と表現してもOK。
　
✔注文後の「とりあえずそれでお願いします」は「That's all/it for now.」
　
✔日本の居酒屋では「とりあえずビールで」と注文をすれば生ビールを持ってきますが、アメリカでは生ビールの種類が多いので「I'll take a Corona for now.（とりあえずコロナをください）」のように、ビールの種類を具体的に伝えましょう。

Start off with _____ を直訳すると「〜で始める」になり、メイン料理の前に飲み物や前菜を注文する際によく使う口語的なフレーズです。一般的に、レストランでテーブルに座ると、店員がまず飲み物と前菜をすすめてきますので、その時にこのフレーズを使いましょう。また、店員が「Can I start you off with any drinks or appetizers?」と質問してくることもよくあります。
　
✔「とりあえず◯◯をください」は「I'll start off with _____.」
飲み物や前菜を全員分まとめて注文する場合は「We'll start off with _____.」

✔その他、「Let's (just) go with that for now.」「That should do for now.」「That should be OK for now.」も同じ意味合いでよく使われるフレーズ。
　
＜例文＞
　
〜会話例１〜

A: Why don't we just make reservations? We can always cancel it.
（レストランの予約しとく？いつでもキャンセルできるし。）

話がなかなかまとまらない時や、何かを決断できない状況で「とりあえず◯◯をしよう」と言いたい場合はanywayを使いましょう。「とりあえず」や「とにかく」を意味します。例えば、友達とどこのレストランに行くかなかなか決められない時に「とりあえず出かけよう」と言う場合は「Anyway, let's get going.」になります。
　
＜例文＞
　
Anyway, let's just give it a try.
（とりあえずやってみましょう。）
　
Anyway, I'm going home. Call me when you guys decide.
