We are from a non-Chinese speaking background family, hence Joreen was not exposed to Chinese speaking environment & she is not keen in Chinese at all. Hence can you imagine how delighted we were when Joreen managed to learnt Chinese characters in the 1st class of LingoAce & applied the words accordingly! So amazing!🥰⁣

Signing up the trial class was fuss-free. After submission of form, a consultant contacted me to understand Joreen's learning needs [We tried the beginner Preschool Program- 25mins] & recommended a suitable 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆-𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓. Sun laoshi was really enthusiastic & patient towards Joreen. With her encourgament, Joreen is more confident answering in Chinese.⁣

I also love that the lesson used 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔, 𝒄𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒄 & 𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 to enhance Joreen's fun learning experience. Joreen who has a short attention span is willing to sit still & enjoy herself throughout the class! 🥰 After class, there is a 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 based on Joreen's progress in class & areas to work on too.👍🏻⁣

「集中する」の英語は「Focus」や「Concentrate」だけじゃない

日本の方にとって「集中」の英語と言えば「Focus」または「Concentrate」が定番かと思いますが、ネイティブ同士の日常会話ではその他にも沢山の言い回しがあります。今回は、その中でも頻繁に耳にする３つの表現をご紹介します。

1) In the zone
→「完全集中 / ゾーンに入る」

この表現は、極限の集中状態を示す際に使われ、最近、日本でも使われるようになっているようですが、いわゆる「ゾーンに入る」ことを意味します。仕事やスポーツにおいて最高のパフォーマンスを発揮するニュアンスが含まれ、特にスポーツの世界でよく用いられます。例えば、NBAには天才シューターと称されるセテッフ・カリーという選手がいますが、彼が試合で3ポイントシュートを連続で決めると、よく実況者が「He's in the zone!（彼はゾーンに入った！）」と言っています。
　
＜例文＞
　
That's seven threes in a row for Steph Curry. He's in the zone!
（ステッフ・カリー選手が、7本連続で3ポイントシュートを決めたよ。ゾーンに入っているね。）
　
That guitarist is in the zone! It sounds amazing!
（あのギタリスト、ゾーンに入っているね。すごい上手！）
　
Look how focused she looks. She's definitely in the zone.

2) Lock in
→「集中する」

お馴染みの表現“focus”をより口語的にした表現です。例えば、締切が迫った仕事をしていて「集中して終わらせないと！」と言いたいなら「I need to lock in and finish it!」となります。
　
＜例文＞
　
It's time to lock in. Let's get this work done!
（集中してこの仕事を終わらせましょう！）
　
Once I lock in, I can work 10 hours straight.
（私は集中すると、10時間ぶっ通しで仕事ができます。）
　
He has a short attention span. He has a hard time locking in.
（彼は集中力がありません。集中するまでに時間がかかります。）

3) Glued to
→「〜に夢中 / 〜に熱中している」

“Glue”は「接着剤」または「〜を接着する」などを意味することから、日常会話では、誰かがテレビやビデオゲームなどに「くぎ付け」になっている意味としてもよく使われます。例えば、声をかけても全く反応しないほどテレビに夢中になっている状況を「He is glued to the TV（彼はテレビに夢中になっている）」のように表現します。
　
＜例文＞
　
My son is glued to his playstation.
（私の息子はプレステに夢中です。）
　
My husband loves baseball. He was glued to the TV all day.
（私の夫は野球が大好きで、一日中テレビにくぎ付けになっていました。）
　
She is glued to her computer. She's been watching YouTube for hours.

Good time at Joreen's 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗽 𝗛𝗼𝗽 with @maddspacesg passed so fast! Mama still remembered looking for recommendation for a dance school previously when Joreen started to show great interest in dancing. Joreen had so much fun. She doesnt only build a good foundation of dance movement, the class helps to boost her confidence level and trained her discipline and teamwork skill to dance in a group.⁣
Young kids has a really short span of attention. I really like how the teachers incorporated dance-based games in teaching them the dance steps in a fun way. Kuddos to the patient and warm teachers!⁣

This is a drop-off class but mama always enjoyed watching Joreen throughout #mamarazi hehe Oh love the class size is kept small and focused too.⁣
