Mr Dad and I have been working together for various projects ever since we got married 17 years ago. Even though we have so many differences, I believe that’s what makes us a great team cos we compliment one another. Hence we have both always enjoyed working together so much! Unfortunately when my health started to decline 8 years ago, I haven’t been able to join him that much - just supporting him from behind.

But last year when we came to view #TheOldForgeCottage 🏡 and fell in love at the first sight with this period property, I have been dreaming to work alongside Mr Dad and his team. Of course I wouldn’t think that it would be possible considering my poor health condition. Plus last year alone, I had to go through 2 long bad episodes until I couldn’t even speak. But then I planned and Allah planned…and indeed Allah is The Best Planner!

Yes, all praise is due to Allah The Almighty for making my dreams come true to project manage our dream home alongside Mr Dad. Don’t ask how I do it cos I don’t have an answer to that but miraculously, one day I just went out of the house and did it. Of course the process isn’t easy but it’s all worth it. With a few hiccups along the way plus 2 incidents where the team almost had to call an ambulance for me, Alhamdulillah, I managed to push through in the end.

The most important part of this reno-journey is that it finally makes me feel normal again. Plus the fact that I’ve got to work side-by-side with the love of my life - Mr Dad - makes me enjoy every bit of the process very much! And having to witness the result of our hard work really means a lot to me.

On top of it all, a big fat thank you to my husband - Mr Dad - for all his hard work and of course, not forgetting my dear sister Dr Auntie for her endless support and for believing in me. I guess these 2 important people plus my 3 amazing children are some of the main reasons that have driven me to never give up…

There are times when you should just step back, listen, learn and be a passenger. And I was so honoured to be @reebiesw ‘s passenger and let her take the lead in the #insideflow class at @iris.hkg at @thegroundshk this past weekend. I’m no stranger to teaching yoga at big scale events. But teaching #insideflow was a first to me 😳. Thanks to @reebiesw ‘s choreography and patience, i managed to pull it off with her. Yes there were hiccups, there were some confusion as to which side to face 😆 and of course there a few #handstand s. But together, we made it happen. Together we are stronger. Together we are united. Together, we can double the fun.

Remember, you are never alone. Whether if you’re wandering around, or facing the horror of a Covid-19 journey, or any challenging marathon. If you open your heart, you can find a friend who can be your shoulder and elevate you.

My first solo wedding in awhile. David and Beatrice are a beautiful couple that had their wedding in an equally gorgeous location, Janda Baik in Malaysia. It was a smooth sailing day and hardly any hiccups. Such a treat an honour to film their wedding.

TECHNICAL ASPECT:

This was the first time shooting a full day video shoot with the Canon 1DX Mark iii. Wanted to step away from the whole "cinematic wedding" video and start developing a documentary style of wedding videos and I'm really happy with how everything turned out! Used a 24MM F1.4 ii, 35MM F1.4ii, 100mm F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8.

The whole piece felt much nicer when graded a little softer. Used Film Convert with a Kodak Portra 400 look. The camera performed very well but like all log footage, don't underexpose. Still wasn't fully well versed with the camera so I made some slight mistakes with white balance and exposure on a few shots. Overall very happy with the image quality and usability of the camera!

For the first week of my 30-day Spanish challenge, I decided to try and learn to speak conversational Spanish in one week from scratch. Before starting this challenge I spoke almost no Spanish, and my goal was to see how much I could learn in just 5 days solely by putting maximal effort into conversational practice. Can you learn to speak Spanish in just one week by abandoning traditional language classes? By disregarding textbooks? Even without memorizing vocabulary? You can judge for yourself the results!

For online tutoring I used Baselang, which offers unlimited Spanish tutoring with teachers based in Latin America (mostly Colombia and Venezuela). There are occasional hiccups with Internet connectivity but overall I quite enjoyed the quality of the teachers and the Baselang curriculum itself. https://bit.ly/3oIStFk

The course I used initially to give me a good foundation in Spanish was called “Spanish Uncovered” by the polyglot Olly Richards, which is a way to learn Spanish naturally through stories. I really enjoyed it, and it seems to be an excellent way to get a good foundation in a new language. http://bit.ly/3pPB0we

For finding Spanish speakers to do language exchange with, I used a great app called Tandem, which lets you find people from around the world to practice languages with (not just Spanish). https://www.tandem.net/

For finding random strangers to video chat with in Spanish (like Omegle or Chatroulette), I found a website called Bazoocam, which has a Spanish section. https://bazoocam.org/es/ (WARNING: this site is definitely not safe for work or for children. Like Omegle you will almost certainly encounter people exposing themselves — along with plenty of people who just want to chat!)

The game I was playing in where you can talk with people from around the world is called VRChat. It’s a really fun game and great for language practice, but note that you may encounter some NSFW stuff or sexual content here as well. https://www.vrchat.com/
