The IUCN Species Survival Commission has issued a call for immediate action to save Saola from extinction. In a position statement released recently, they emphasize the critical need for greater search efforts for the elusive species.

Since its discovery in 1992, there has been little detection of the animal, which suggests that it is now very rare. However, only 30% of potential Saola habitat in the Annamite Mountains on the border of Vietnam and Laos has been surveyed and as little 2% of that intensively. Experts believe the species still exists in the wild, but with the rising threat from snares, time is running out to find and save them.

“It is clear that search efforts must be significantly ramped up in scale and intensity if we are to save this species from extinction,” Nerissa Chao, director of the IUCN SSC Asian Species Action Partnership says. “For this to happen, there needs to be sustained financial investment in targeted locations.”

You have chest day, shoulder day, leg day, and occasional judgement a.k.a. death day. I miss judgement day, all truths slapping your face and there is no where to hide kinda day, best when it’s a group execution. Nuh don’t fancy dying alone that much, there is this thing called survival instinct ya know. With this crazy pandemic still on going and after playing and watching all those apocalypse zombie games and movies, the main outtake besides the sweat and the screams is this — the basic mean of survival is to be able to at least run faster and farther. I sometimes imagine myself jumping into cracks instead of over cracks when the earth splits open, or failing to grip tight on those loose rocks on a cliff, and I secretly used the scary images in my head as my motivation. Welcome to my wild imagination, different genres of movies playing all day around the clock 🥶😈

Hi everyone! This is Wilang, an explorer from Taiwan. I’ll be showing you how to cook in the wild using bamboo to create a classic Taiwanese, aboriginal dish.

In the past when there were no pots and pans, people sourced many things locally from nature. Today we are using the old wisdom of aborigines and turning bamboo into natural pots, bowls and chopsticks.

Our ingredients are wild fish and shrimp freshly caught from the river and seasoned with simple ginger slices and salt.
