tasmanian forest is an important habitat for the critically endangered swift parrots. their habitat had been lost because of human developments; they are also threatened by the invasive species, sugar gliders. an analysis in 2015 found that the swift parrot might become extinct within 16 years. recently, there are new proposal s to clear 40 hectares of the forest to build a dam for fish farm, a golf course and housing; if the proposals got approved, that will cause more threats to the swift parrot.
