It all started from "Mama, so we can't celebrate Halloween this year, right?"
Yup, after having joined in Halloween parties at Kidzania for years or going to our friends' houses for gatherings, the kids were a little sad that it would be a quiet October 31st this year. So.... I decided that we shall not be defeated by the pandemic and despite it being a stay-home Halloween party right in the midst of exams, it turned out to be one of the best things we did this entire year.
It might seem like I did this solely for the sake of the kids but the truth is I am also grateful to them for letting me feel young, playful, wild and carefree, at least for a night. Yup, it's for all of us and I think we had lots of fun and joy this year or like what the kids say, it was seriously the best Halloween ever.
The little girl asked if I could do a video for them to remember that night, in addition to being the organiser and game master. Hahaha. 你真的觉得妈妈是万能的吗? But I couldn't refuse that request and told them "Then you must be willing to take a lot of pictures and videos lor." And so they did. Despite changing in and out of their costumes (either parts of it fell off or they were feeling too hot during the activities), they did everything and followed every instruction. Yup, honestly I couldn't asked for anything more from them and seeing their big smiles at the end was my best reward.
Thanks for all the encouraging messages that poured in upon seeing our stories (check under 'Halloween' in my highlights if you missed them), you guys are very kind. Will be sharing a video next week which will include a surprise too!
For now, it's back to regular and mundane stay-home life but we are looking forward to the post exam celebrations and more fun during the school hols. Yup, if you remember, all my kids are year end babies so we are gonna get very busy planning for more family parties soon!

2020 vs 2009.
It was our first time celebrating Halloween in Sweden and although I was 36 weeks pregnant with the big girl then, we still went trick-or-treating and partied with our friends.
Fast forward to 11 years later and despite the pandemic, we still had a blast last weekend and this time round, it's with all three of our little ones.
Yup, so much has changed yet I think deep down, some things still remain the same. Will share more of the happenings in a video soon because I bet the kids will wanna reminisce that fun-filled night and remember all the joy we had.
P.S. Posting this for the record because I asked the 4yo if I can take a photo with Papa (his answer has always been "No") and for the first time, he said "Mama, I can let you take photos with Papa and your friends from now on." Awwww, thank you, my dear. Let's see if you really mean it, haha.
P.P.S. 3 more days till the end of exams and it will be time to celebrate (again)!

This year was our first time trick or treating and doing Halloween activities. Every time we passed a house with pumpkins, I’d pop a treat in their bucket. Just like that, we started our first little traditions for Halloween. Nothing big, just something simple but more than enough to make the kids happy. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve never liked Halloween. I scare easily. I told myself I’ll kindaaaaaa go semi-out for this holiday and you know what? I went “barely-out” still but Isaac and Ayla had a blast. Isaac doesn’t like to dress up but this year he was happily his hero, Gecko from PJ masks. Ayla was Aurora (or Roawa) despite never watched Sleeping Beauty (fun fact: the only Disney movie I’m still afraid of still as an adult). I even threw on a costume on which was my Princess Peach costume I never ended up wearing for Isaac’s 2nd birthday. I’m glad it actually came in use. This month has been a heavy month for a lot of my loved ones and I’m thankful for this holiday lightening things up. I realise I prob never liked Halloween because I never did those little things growing up. It’s nice I can live them through Isaac and Ayla. Anyways what I mean to say is, HELLO CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!! 🌲Michael Bublè is defrosting as we speak. Do you like Halloween? How is this holiday different for you this year? #happyhalloween #trickortreat🎃 #itsbubz #family #isitchristmasyet #bubzvlogz

There are a lot of styles in Lolita fashion : Traditional, classical, gothic, sweet, prince, punk, pirate etc... and it is often difficult to get the difference between some of them, so we grouped them in 5 main categories and had Misako Aoki explain them thoroughly especially for KAWAII PATEEN.
This video is an extension of the styles Misako presented in her noes Lolita fasshion book, which presentation video is here :

Hi everyone, this is Aoki Misako (Japanese name order; the surname is Aoki).
Today, I'm paying a visit to the storeroom of Baby, The Stars Shine Bright (top lolita fashion boutique chain in Japan, shortened to Baby).
Here, I'll introduce 5 major styles in lolita fashion.
The first is "Traditional Lolita".
This style consists of cute, girlish dresses made from plain, natural-toned fabrics and lace.
Traditional Lolita is the old-school style worn by (actress) Fukada Kyoko in the movie Kamikaze Girls. It places a lot of emphasis on basic colors, lace and ribbons to achieve that sweet, feminine look.
Even though patterned fabrics are all the rage these days, vintage dresses like these with natural cloth and lots of lace are timeless and have never gone out of style.
The chest area of this dress is shirred, making it exceptionally comfortable and easy to wear. Check out these 2 ribbons. The blouse can easily be matched with anything.
These items are sold in a set by Baby, making it easy even for beginners to coordinate, such as with this matching Alice band.
Now i'll introduce hair accessories for the Traditional Lolita style.
First is this headdress i'm wearing; it's a classic piece that is iconic of Lolita fashion.
Next are these ribbon hair ties, which can be used to create an array of hairstyles, such as twin ponytails.
And here is perhaps the easiest item to accessorize with, the ribbon Alice band. Like magic, the simple addition of one can turn any look from plain to adorable.
At times when you want to tone down your Traditional Lolita outfit, or during cold weather, i recommend these fluffy beret hats.
The style I'm wearing now is called "Sweet Lolita".
The hallmark of this style is pink color from head to toe, together with patterns featuring chocolates, candy, animals and other such sweet and cuddly motifs.
This Sweet Lolita dress's design features Baby's original character Kuma Kumya, along with cookies and chocolates. It is a very popular style at the moment.
When you put it on, it looks so sweet that you could almost smell the aroma of chocolate coming from it!
This piece has a "Kumya and Friends" design with a Halloween theme. Lately, having seasonal themed designs such as for Christmas and Halloween has become very popular in the Lolita fashion world.
The design of this piece is called "Alice's Dollhouse". It is filled with images of Alice having a tea party with her animal friends like Rabbit and Cat.
Sweet Lolita is all about pink - for example this blouse made of pink fabric coordinated with this jumper decorated with pink patterns. On top of this pink-on-pink theme, it uses images of sweet things like candy and pastries, and feminine things like cosmetics, to really maximise the sense of feminine identity.
This piece I'm wearing retells the story of Hansel and Gretel with lots of sweets, it's really cute, and one of the bestsellers as well.
For the Sweet Lolita, carrying an animal-shaped bag like this one further enhances the cuteness of the look.
This one is Kuma Kumya, and this one is Rabbit Kumya. It has a 'kiss lock' type metal clasp.
Many Sweet Lolitas coordinate their outfits with accessories like these. For an even bolder statement, you could also go for a backpack. It's just big enough to contain snacks and sweets.
As for hair accessories for the Sweet Lolita, besides the ubiquitous ribbon Alice band, mini hats like this are in fashion now.
This one is designed to look like a piece of strawberry chocolate, and other than wearing it on your own head, you could also let Kuma Kumya wear it!

I was inspired by a lot of things for this look. The manga Rozen Maiden, anime Vampire Knight, and those big eyed gothic dolls. This was kind of a belated Halloween Tutorial, but better late than never right? You can still tone it down and make it look more wearable =P Nutcracker series coming up soon!
