#芬分鐘 芬兰总理桑娜·马林政府剛剛宣布了一项改革,芬兰的家庭育嬰假将变得更长、更灵活。在芬蘭原本就有12個月的育嬰假,這還不夠長,這次要延長到14個月!
這麼長的育嬰假,芬蘭政府不是給了就算,這裡面的規定是很有學問和意義的。這次新改革當中首先讓懷孕的一方,可以在寶寶出生前四十天就開始帶薪休假。有了政府的政策支持,媽媽們不用工作到最後一天,等到陣痛才被老闆准假。
這樣剛剛提到的14個月假期,先扣掉這四十天,接下來的12.8個月平分給父母,以工作日不含週日來算,父母就是各休160天,這比過去規定各增加了43天。休假期間,不能領到全部的薪水,但是政府會根據你的年薪補助企業費用,讓公司在你休育嬰假的期間,可以支付你育嬰津貼。你放幾天,這津貼就拿幾天。
而且新的規定當中,可以轉讓育嬰假給另外一半,而且延長使用假期的年限為兩年。所以將會讓育嬰假的使用更加靈活,父親的參與度也會因此變多。

這次的影片要來跟大家分享的是芬蘭所發布的一篇為期五年的研究,針對退化性的半月板撕裂問題,接受手術與假手術是否對於症狀的改善程度有任何不同?
In research, there is an experimental method that participants are divided into two groups, one receives regular treatment, and the other just receives sham treatment. During the experiment, the sham treatment is made to resemble the real treatment. All of the participants and the researchers who assess the outcomes are blinded to the treatment assignment.
Interestingly, a lot of researches find those sham treatment groups also report positive outcomes; sometimes, their improvements are more significant than the regular one. This result is called placebo effect. This kind of experimental method is common in drugs or physiotherapy research, but do you know surgery is possible, and it could also have a placebo effect?
In this video, I’m going to share a 5 year follow-up of the sham surgery for degenerative meniscus tear research from Finland with you, and to see if there are any different results between groups.

The story of "Another Night of Solitude" followed "By the Lone Light". After Bîng-hong went missing during the indiscriminate massacre in March 1947, A-hiong tried desperately to find her beloved one but in vain. As seasons changed, a year went by. Longing for Bîng-hong's safe return eventually became a foolish wish, only solitude remained.

Health benefits of regular cycling
Cycling is mainly an aerobic activity, which means that your heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout. You will breathe deeper, perspire and experience increased body temperature, which will improve your overall fitness level.
The health benefits of regular cycling include:
increased cardiovascular fitness
increased muscle strength and flexibility
improved joint mobility
decreased stress levels
improved posture and coordination
strengthened bones
decreased body fat levels
prevention or management of disease
reduced anxiety and depression.

Cycling and specific health issues
Cycling can improve both physical and mental health, and can reduce the chances of experiencing many health problems.
Obesity and weight control
Cycling is a good way to control or reduce weight, as it raises your metabolic rate, builds muscle and burns body fat. If you’re trying to lose weight, cycling must be combined with a healthy eating plan. Cycling is a comfortable form of exercise and you can change the time and intensity – it can be built up slowly and varied to suit you.
Research suggests you should be burning at least 8,400 kilojoules (about 2,000 calories) a week through exercise. Steady cycling burns about 1,200 kilojoules (about 300 calories) per hour.
If you cycle twice a day, the kilojoules burnt soon add up. British research shows that a half-hour bike ride every day will burn nearly five kilograms of fat over a year.
Cardiovascular disease and cycling
Cardiovascular diseases include stroke, high blood pressure and heart attack. Regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels. Research also shows that people who cycle to work have two to three times less exposure to pollution than car commuters, so their lung function is improved. A Danish study conducted over 14 years with 30,000 people aged 20 to 93 years found that regular cycling protected people from heart disease.
Cancer and cycling
Many researchers have studied the relationship between exercise and cancer, especially colon and breast cancer. Research has shown that if you cycle, the chance of bowel cancer is reduced. Some evidence suggests that regular cycling reduces the risk of breast cancer.
Diabetes and cycling
The rate of type 2 diabetes is increasing and is a serious public health concern. Lack of physical activity is thought to be a major reason why people develop this condition. Large-scale research in Finland found that people who cycled for more than 30 minutes per day had a 40 per cent lower risk of developing diabetes.
Bone injuries, arthritis and cycling
Cycling improves strength, balance and coordination. It may also help to prevent falls and fractures. Riding a bike is an ideal form of exercise if you have osteoarthritis, because it is a low-impact exercise that places little stress on joints.
Cycling does not specifically help osteoporosis (bone-thinning disease) because it is not a weight-bearing exercise.
Mental illness and cycling
Mental health conditions such as depression, stress and anxiety can be reduced by regular bike riding. This is due to the effects of the exercise itself and because of the enjoyment that riding a bike can bring.
