Farewell to the 5th generation Peak Trams, which have served Hong Kong since 1989 and let’s hope we can take the 6th generation Peak Tram in Hong Kong together at the end of 2021!
The Peak Tram service will be temporarily suspended for the Peak Tram Upgrade Project.
The current tramcars, which have a capacity of 120 passengers, will be replaced with new 210-passenger tramcars. I hope the new tramcars will look as classy as the old ones.
The Peak Tram was the first cable funicular in Asia with its service commenced since 1888!
Say farewell to the 5th generation Peak Tram before 28th June! If possible, go there on a weekday. We went there yesterday (Sunday) and the line was sooooooooooo long. Waiting time to get onto the tram was around one hour 😕 So we took a taxi up to the peak instead (HKD$60) and then took the peak tram back to the city centre. The waiting time to go down the Peak is always shorter (I waited for 1 minute 😎).
By the way, it is impossible to take photos with the classic red Peak tram now as the Peak Trams are in farewell design, designed by 8 local artists, now.
