Bodyless, award-winning VR work by renowned Taiwanese director Hsin-Chien Huang, is now ready to be experienced at Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF)!
In Bodyless, the audience experiences an ultra surreal journey through the eyes of a political prisoner, who became a ghost after his death in prison. Trying to find his way home, he travels through a spectacular and fantastical underworld interwoven with nature. Will he find his way home and finally be free? Or digital domination has replaced political oppression in the past, only to disembody him again from his humanity and reduce it into digits and commodities? His search for home - can it be a powerful metaphor of the search for lost humanity in our digital age? Bodyless delivers a thought-provoking “ghost story” of the most unusual kind. Visually stunning, emotionally intense and spiritually haunting… absolutely not to be missed!
From August 5th to 22ed, 2021, films featured in MIFF, 2021 can be viewed at various venues in the city of Melbourne or online! Paid online-viewing is available through the official MIFF Play service.
This Year, MIFF XR Category is also available online for the fist time, to anyone with VR equipment and computers at home. So viewers can enjoy their selected MIFF XR works in the comfort of their own home!

台灣導演黃心健 的得獎VR作品《失身記》即將在第69屆墨爾本國際電影節 (Melbourne International Film Festival, MIFF) 開放體驗！
《失身記》帶領觀眾進入超現實虛擬實境體驗，化身鬼魂，飄盪在臺灣戒嚴的暗黑歷史與數位控制的想像世界。 一名於政府祕密實驗中的政治犯在獄中孤獨地死去，老人死後成為孤魂野鬼，墮入冥界之中。根據台灣民俗信仰，農曆鬼月地獄之門大開，鬼魂試著找尋回家的路。透過老人的眼睛，文化與自然交織成豐富的精神世界。然而，一股機械力量開始腐化精神世界。。。身心都飽受迫害的老人，是否終究能回家？他的靈魂能否得到救贖？在《失身記》中，過往的戒嚴統治及現代的數位科技合而為一，形成對人們生活與信仰對立的深沉壓迫，將真實而複雜的人性變成了虛擬的電腦像素與謀利的商業工具。或許老人的旅程也是每一個人的旅程，我們都在尋找靈魂的家、真正的自由。《失身記》是個讓人深刻省思的“鬼故事”，生動的 VR 感官體驗將帶領您進入一個充滿了人性與靈性、深具文化色彩與豐富美感的奇幻旅程。
今年邁入第69屆的MIFF於8月5日至22日盛大舉行。觀眾可以選擇前往墨爾本各地的劇院及戲院欣賞電影節影片，或者透過MIFF Play的官方服務，採用線上觀賞的方式付費體驗，暢覽今年度的精彩影片。
而本次MIFF XR項目也首度開放給具有VR設備與電腦的觀眾在線上觀賞，讓觀眾在家就可以觀賞這次MIFF XR項目的作品。

濁水溪公社榮獲今年金曲獎最佳台語專輯，得獎感言說：「這是濁水溪公社的最後一張作品，能和金曲獎沾上邊，三十年前組團的時候，完全沒有辦法想像。」
二十年前，我和政大廣電班上的同學毛致新拍攝濁水溪公社的紀錄片時，也完全無法想像有一天，這部作品能在金馬影展放映。
《爛頭殼》是我們的畢業製作，2000年十月（即整整二十年前的此時），濁水溪公社的主唱小柯和我們約在地下社會碰面，他在《破報》看到了我們刊登的畢製徵求拍攝樂團的啟事。
想想，他就把這樣的機會給了兩個與他毫無淵源的、名不見經傳的大學生，我每次回想起這件事，都覺得很神奇。
我們從大四上學期拍到下學期，拍到畢展前一個月，才開始剪接。拍片的那半年，依然是我人生中最魔幻的六個月，跟著心愛的樂團東南西北地跑，走進他們的生活，走入後台和練團室，看見別人看不到的另一面—舞台上的暴力美學之外，私底下更真實的、有情有義的一面。
2001年畢展結束後，水晶唱片的任將達先生替《爛頭殼》發行了VCD（多有年代感的載體），後來陸續在一些場合做過小規模映演，偶爾也會聽見有人說他曾看過（透過各種莫名其妙的管道）。
而我自己，大概每隔三四年會在家裡再看一次，當初一些技術上的瑕疵一直都在那裡，但我發現，隨著時間推移，它愈是提醒了我一些什麼，就是那種對未來毫無顧忌對他人眼光漫不在乎地做一件自己真的很喜歡的事情的單純與熱情。
我們就是這樣單純地拍了一部片，也許它替這個樂團、替台灣的搖滾時代留下了一些東西，在濁水溪公社已經解散的現在，《爛頭殼》有機會重新躍上大銀幕，讓人看一看二十年前的台灣，有一群與眾不同的人，這是發生在他們身上的故事......
感謝金馬影展節目總監曉珮，她是我們廣電系的學妹，畢展初次放映時人也在場，那時還是大三生。

電影本事：
世紀末，島國結束了五十年的國民黨統治，新總統宣誓就職前，亂彈、五月天、脫拉庫、四分衛在金曲獎同台演出，振臂高呼：「樂團的時代來臨了！」
這一切，和濁水溪公社似乎沒有任何關係。這支由台大學生左派和小柯籌組的龐克樂隊，總將態度擺在技術前面，他們剛在墾丁的舞台點燃了一場暴動，而90年代初期即活躍於各種地下文化現場的濁水溪公社，也在經典專輯《台客的復仇》發行後，在世紀之交走到一個重要的十字路口……
《爛頭殼》是兩個政大學生的畢業製作，2000年底一通神秘的電話，把兩人捲入了濁水溪公社成軍來最動盪的一年—總統府前跨年演出樂迷被吉他砸傷、反併吞演唱會引起軒然大波的政治行動劇，乃至蛇年春天吶喊那場砸琴縱火的表演。
這次20週年特別放映，讓新一代獨立樂迷也有機會掉入當年那個風風火火的地下搖滾圈子，推開傳說中水晶唱片、聖界和地下社會的門，重溫一個真誠而躁動的時代，也重新認識這個台灣樂團史上最危險的樂團。
Loh Tsui Kweh Commune, the most influential & controversial punk band in Taiwan’s independent music history, viciously combined its restless performing style and left-wing attitude from the early 90’s until it disbanded in 2019. The unusual mixture of radical political awareness, staggering showmanship and catchy melodies makes it an extraordinary phenomenon and a great conflict between its social and historical contexts. This documentary paints an honest portrait about a struggling band at its critical crossroad.

The controversial "Pig Butchering" festival in Taiwan is by far one of the more bizarre festivals that I've ever attended.
Come join me for a walk around the temple & experience the sights & sounds of this extraordinary cultural & religious Hakka festival. I was told that this particular festival was celebrated to mark the completion of the temple renovations. I think the thing I found quite strange was that these "exotic dancers" were dancing to trance music in front of the sacrificial pigs & goats as a 'gift' for the gods.
